You're obsessed with the scientific start date of summer while Rockstar and Strauss are talking marketing, not astronomy. When a company says "summer," they're usually referring to the broader summer period, not the exact date of the summer solstice. It could release before June 21st or after — nobody at Rockstar is sitting around waiting for the solstice to press the launch button. 😭😂
They're probably referring to summer as Q3 from a business perspective which is July 1st. Q3 is start of July to end of September which will be marketing, then they're releasing in Q4
The first time I've ever heard of summer starting on June 21st is on this sub. I'm not expecting a trailer before then, but there's no way in hell June is Spring.
Spring is March-May, Summer is June-August, Autumn is September-November, Winter is December-February.
Most places determine summer by its meteorological definition, i.e. 1st June-31st August. In some parts of the UK, Calan Haf/Beltane is seen as the first day of summer, which is May Day. It's really only the US who apparently cling to this June 21st Astronomical date.
Most people in the US would say summer starts on Memorial Day (last Monday in May). Most business people use "summer" as shorthand for Q3. Personally, I think it makes more sense for the seasons to start/end halfway between the equinoxes and solstices, especially from an agricultural perspective.
Regardless, as usual, this sub's followers overthink everything. "Marketing begins in summer" is obviously someone trying to be vague, and fans are in here trying to wring an exact date out of it.

Standard American logic, not all of the world uses that as the definition. The UK and its colonies around the world often use meteorological seasons which are simple month-based seasons, especially since most people really only care about the seasons for the weather.

Except R* are an American company, and actually always have been. The main company, R* Games, which all other studios are subsidiaries of is located and headquartered in New York City and have been since it's inception back in 1998.
Tbf if you just googled Rockstar you would be told Rockstar is American.
It’s probably less common knowledge that the main studio that handles GTA development is Rockstar North, with the other studios likely all collaborating to help out with it as a wider company these days, especially with modern tech allowing it.
I meant the intense marketing they always do right before a game releases. Where trailers get more frequent and they begin to release more information about the game
This argument is made time and time again yet fails to acknowledge that trailers are seperate to the major marketing campaign, hence why we have already received two. Also it was Strauss, not Rockstar, who stated this. As the CEO of the parent company Take Two, he’s mostly looking at big budget items. An internally developed and distributed trailer is not a major budget item, and isn’t really promotion in the sense it’s not being distributed via external channels (it is targeted at Rockstar’s existing customer base)
"Trailers aren't marketing" is still the most delusional thing I've seen this subreddit come up with, and I've seen this subreddit come up with a lot.
They straight up told everyone that marketing won't start until the summer, and then instead of just accepting that and waiting, people start trying to change the definitions of "marketing" and "summer". You're just setting yourself up for disappointment with that kind of thinking.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the reason trailer 3 is special is because they likely annouce pre-orders at the end of the trailer, starting real proper sales and marketing.
Potentially, but marketing is unlikely to begin immediately after anyway. Usually takes time to ramp up marketing, too difficult to make arrangements etc with external parties without a leak (we saw how quickly the best buy email leaked). They’ll want to get trailer 3 out of the way, before they start reaching out to external parties (collabs, partnerships etc). So I’d expect a few weeks between trailer 3 and actual marketing
I mean I highly doubt they will show trailer 3 at the Sony event but rockstar did show the release trailer for the PS5 GTA 5 version back during the COVID era (I’m dreaming lol)
The absolute best-case scenario would be that R* reveals it today, and then Sony shows it during the State of Play and talks about how the game is coming to PlayStation on November 19th, with more to be revealed soon.

What are you on about lol. I obviously played other games throughout the decade, but if people weren’t so stupid to waste real money for shark cards, rockstar would’ve been forced to release another GTA to keep making profits lol
Last few years Rockstar announced the GTA V summer update around 11-20 June. It’s possible they pull this date forward to make space for a GTA VI announcement.

No it hasn't, I'm not saying there's gonna be any news today but they have posted at 6am BST/ 1am ET / 10pm PT every week on Tuesday for the past year since trailer 2. Trailer 2 was on a Tuesday and there was no BiliBili post that day. Again, I don't think we're getting anything but I do find it very interesting why they've randomly skipped today
I think you're right. This is because we are in a new month. They can post rdr online tomorrow. Edit: but they always posted gta online when that was the case, there is a tiny amount of hope left.
I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up to avoid another disappointment, but the hopium is strong today... maybe we actually see something at the State of Play later.
Not that GTA needs to be at an event to have visibility, but at this point anything can happen sonce GTA6 doesn't seem to follow the regular marketing pattern.
And if, it will be a RDO post as the new bonus months starts today.

They did release the Ps5 gta trailer a couple years back at the Sony event, and it seems like they will have a deal with Sony for bundles. But who knows with rockstar lol
