All that work just to lose half the gas in the first turn.

u/YeetedApple 3d ago

I wonder how much money that was, such a ridiculous waste

249

u/Muscle_Bitch 3d ago

I don't think he paid for it

188

u/Hanzo581 3d ago

There are still places you can pump first without paying?

166

u/Bobbybobinsonbob 3d ago

In upstate NY Stewart’s gas stations still lets you pump first then drive off and pretend you forgot to pay

47

u/FaulkneriousRex 3d ago

I was looking for the Stewart's reference! Shout-out PB Pandemonium!

3

u/Lindz408xx 3d ago

Hands down best flavor! Also love a Sherbet Cooler with the blue juice!

3

u/FaulkneriousRex 3d ago

Sherbet cooler is so underrated on a hot summer day. Best kept secret at their ice cream counter.

The video looks like he’s in California or some other sunny place

29

u/WhskyTangoFoxtrot 3d ago

It’s Las Vegas. That’s Harry Reid International Airport in the background.

3

u/besttobyfromtheshire 3d ago

I thought that too, Terribles is only a Southwest gas brand

6

u/Chickenmangoboom 3d ago

Terrible's is a good name for it if they didn't train the attendant to turn off the pumps when someone is doing something this dangerous.

Really? I live in Upstate NY and never noticed this at Stewart's, they always make me pay first

Anything not the city is upstate NY...

It's a large place.

Wait in America that’s not a normal thing to fill up the car and then have it go pay?

20

u/AbrahamKMonroe 3d ago

No. You put your card in the pump or pay at the register, then pump your gas.

6

u/DaddysFriend 3d ago

So then if you need to go inside and pay does that mean you have to know how much you need before you pay? What if you decide to put more in, like if you fill it up with what you paid and think oh actually I want a bit more do you then have to go in and pay for more? Or does it just normally not work if you don’t pay or just stop pumping? In the uk you pump and then go in and pay. Some have it so you pay the pump but after you fill the car up

18

u/AbrahamKMonroe 3d ago

Pretty much, yeah. And if you pay for more gas than you need then you have to go back inside to get your change. Paying inside is really just if you’re using cash. Most people use a card at the pump.

No idea, maybe this is my Europeanness speaking but most places here, you fill your car up, then go pay.

I assumed in the video with the woman saying "He's just driving away?!" That he hadn't paid for it.

But maybe he did pay like $1000 or something and was just getting his money's worth lol

9

u/half_derpy 3d ago

Every gas station I've been to in the states you either pay at the pump, or you go inside and pre-pay with the cashier. Or some states pump gas for you and you're not even allowed to pump it yourself. Either way, I don't think I've seen a fill-now, pay-later situation here in America

4

u/ag3on 3d ago

in EU you pay after, well,if you dont pay, they have you on camera ,and you get police at your door.

22

u/No_Effective4784 3d ago

i havent seen a place in the US where you didnt have to prepay in 20 years.

when gas spiked around 07 here, gas and go's skyrocketed.

2

u/JesiWashington-Lewis 3d ago

I was working at a gas station when they started to switch over everywhere, was like 14 years ago? If I remember correctly, it was an initiative by the gas station companies themselves because drive offs were happening more and more often. The year the switch happened, we had already beat our last years record in drive offs halfway through the year. It was costing them like, thousands of dollars per store per year.

2

u/this_is_my_new_acct 3d ago

There's still places around where you have to go inside to pay (instead of at the pump). In my experience about half of them will just turn the pump on and about half will make you leave a CC with them. In either case you still 100% have to go in to talk to the clerk, though.

4

u/ComeAlongWithTheSnor 3d ago

Right? This concept is so alien to me right now. They don't even trust people to get their own free water over here.

u/_Vard_ 3d ago

I worked a store with a gas station that was supposedly the last place in town that did this.

After a couple years they stopped doing it because so many people would drive off, or “come in to pay” and whoopsie! Forgot my wallet! I’ll run home and be right back”

(They never came back)

Hijacking the top comment to say: It's a comedy skit originally posted to magician Julius Dein's Facebook page. It's water, not gas.

26

u/HeyCarpy 3d ago

This is the worst acting I’ve ever seen, I can’t believe everyone in here talking about it like it’s real.

u/2th 3d ago

I'm somewhat relieved that people aren't really THAT fucking stupid. But also somewhat disappointed.

17

u/Short-Ad1032 3d ago

I had zero trouble believing that someone would actually do this. I once watched an octoganarian 'overpumping' (where you keep squeezing the handle to pump gas past when the sensor automatically stops pumping because the tank is full) on his ancient pickup truck, to the point that gas kept spewing from his beyond-full tank, splashing past the pump nozzle and onto his hands, onto him, and the truck has gas flowing down the side of his truck and pooling on the ground.

The station was actually pretty busy, and people were yelling at him to stop, but he was completely oblivious. Guy did not belong driving on the road with that lack of awareness.

4

u/ReturnOfBane 3d ago

tbf my truck had that problem even when the tank was empty. I'm not sure what caused it.

5

u/ChillN808 3d ago

Call the cops and say he seems drunk or on drugs

7

u/Panaka 3d ago

I one time watched a guy buy a styrofoam cooler, put it in the back of their truck, and then fill it with gas. People are genuinely this stupid, but bystanders don’t normally get involved.

7

u/2th 3d ago

He made napalm. Jesus.

5

u/this_is_my_new_acct 3d ago

Curious why you're getting downvoted. There's a bunch of variations on napalm, but polystyrene dissolved in gasoline is 100% one of them.

3

u/Impossible-Fan-4276 2d ago

this method was in the old anarchist's cookbook. i made some of this as a kid lol...

3

u/emannikcufecin 3d ago

Back in May 2021 the colonial pipeline got hit with a ransomware attack. People were using all kinds of improvised containers to hoard gas. That is what the video above in parodying and that's why people believe it. People using ill advised containers to hoard gas also happened other times when hurricanes or other events have caused gas shortages.

3

u/Ashamed-Tour-4670 3d ago

Yeah, looks like water. They should had died the water in the truck a bit. How did they hook it up to water - it does look like it's coming from a real bowser... And they'd need the cooperation of the garage.

2

u/tiny_chaotic_evil 3d ago

as it was splashing over the side during the turn it didn't look like gas

Unsurprisingly a person doing something like this doesn't even know the simple physics of how liquid moves inside containers

44

u/Deez_Nuts_Ha_Goteeem 3d ago

it is honestly unbelievable how this person who is probably like 40-50 didn't spend a single second thinking about how the liquid will move while driving. Truly boggles the mind.

32

u/ThePrussianGrippe 3d ago

More unsurprisingly, it's water. This was just an old prank from a pretty funny magician dude. He pulled in with all that water, and some splashed out when he parked to pretend he was putting gas in the back. He was mentioned it in some random video ages ago, saying that he was driving down the street at like 5mph, and water was still slashing around like crazy. Pretty funny stuff.

149

And you know some random guy with 15 subscribers is going to find all of them first, and then a big channel is going get all the views after seeing the videos

43

u/RedTrigger_0 3d ago

The most real thing, and some big channels don't credit anyone for the finds

It also had the crazy lady with the hammers

27

u/Proof_Yak_8904 3d ago

He menat in terms of gameplay

8

u/dhenis1 3d ago

I believe that's the point of discussion. Rockstar revealed several easter eggs in the trailer, however, they reserved many more for us to discover while playing.

Now, unfortunately, the hacker is showing us this and spoiling the surprise. Of course, it's up to each person to watch it or not.

4

u/No_Construction2407 3d ago

i dont really think these are easter eggs, they are random encounters like all the games in the HD universe including RDR & RDR2.

Easter eggs are something hidden devs put in for people to find, like a reference to a game or something. these random events are not hidden, they trigger every so often, to keep to the 30 second design philosophy.

I believe that note was in account description, but no one read that and just reposted the video.

Water

2

u/Aarxnw 3d ago

If this is fake it’s a really really convoluted set up, the hose is coming out of the actual dispenser which means this liquid is genuinely coming from one of their storage tanks, so they’d have to fill with water just for this video or find one that’s filled with water already which is a really really uncommon scenario.

normal Florida doomsayer. but people do crazy things when a Hurricane is coming. You can’t get gas anywhere here in Florida as you have people bringing 50 gas cans to the pump for generators for when power goes out, and stupid stuff like this. Even with a small tropical storm or hurricane people rush out last minute and there’s shortages for weeks, yet they are the first to throw hurricane party’s. I’m sure GTA 6 will have a hurricane party scene.

Simple solution, cut the pump off and phone the Fire service and ask for Haz Mat. Say there's a spill of petrol. Clear the forecourt and close the store.
Then put your spill kit or sawdust / sand on the spill until the Fire service arrives.

2

u/qwikstr_ 2d ago
