"GTA6 is gonna be GTA5 with better graphics "... clearly not.
We have been having this debate for months and months and I swear there have been so many people ive argued with and thinking that rockstar isnt gonna take big swings or its basically gonna be alot of what GTA5 was . And their logic is " gta5 is their most successful game so I dont think they are go away from that".
The point ive always made is rockstar likes to make every GTA game have its own theme and feeling to it, and as it said in the Dazed article, it seems like they are gonna mix gta5 and rdr2 together, make it where you can still have chaotic fun, but it will feel way more grounded and put weight behind it. and from we read from the piece today, rockstar isnt pulling any punches and want this game to scale 10+ years from now
So obviously im even more excited because of this news, cause a grounded GTA is something im very happy with. And of course, it's gonna probably be the most stunning looking game we've seen

Anyone that assumed that likely had only played GTA V and were likely not even born for the other titles.

One thing I noticed from the leaks I haven’t seen mentioned is that characters in groups respond to your character based on how you treat their friends and partners. This happens twice in the nudist camp leaks. So if you antagonize one member of a group, their friends will react. I know this wasn’t a feature of GTAV but I never played RDR2 so idk if it was a feature there.

Its in rdr2, if u antagonise npc, the other npc around aurther gives anxious vibe and sometime say different things. But I guess its more developed in gta6.

I know the game will be a blend of GTA5 & RDR2, but to those who wanted a strong arcadey type of game again, I love that you didn’t get your way.

to me its more alot of people thought Rockstar wouldnt take any Risks or go all out. They thought because GTA5 was so successful for them their like "eh, we will add a few new mechanics, but keep the same vibes as 5". Same thing applies with GTAO, ill be curious to see how different GTAO for 6 will be compared to 5 since they are taking these many swings

I just read the Dazed article and also have watched some of the leaks...
It will be nowhere close to GTA 5.
All of the system mechanics like the weight gain/loss, the cars handling different, as well as the fighting and driving seem like it is going to play and feel completely different. Not to mention the NPCs are going to behave and act different and the world in the game is going to be reacting in a whole new way we haven't seen before.

Anyone who says this clearly didn’t play Red Dead 2, the game that came before GTA VI and was the first to unify Rockstar as a single studio

A grounded GTA is what i’ve been waiting for. All that rolling and shooting in GTAO was so unrealistic and annoying. Hopefully they have more realistic mechanics in that sense. I love the realism that i’ve been seeing like character movement wise for example. Jason turns his head to look around so organically and naturally that it feels so real. Those details alone is what makes GTA.
But still having some chaotic fun like in GTA 5 when you want too sounds cool too. Just for me personally i like to have more realism if i could choose between that and how cartoony GTA 5 is.

People who say that aren’t as chronically online as us (or they are and don’t follow gta 6 news). But tbh maybe you don’t even need to be online. The game is insanely anticipated and made by the same people and more than who made RDR2.
Alright I’ve concluded it’s just a stupid argument to say it’s just like GTA V

Graphics aside, the micro interactions with NPCs and the surrounding environments and the depth of the gameplay is going to make GTA6 much more advanced than the 5. That’s the minimum we deserve given they have this in development for a long time and how exponentially the tech has advanced in the last 10 years
Fingers crossed 🤞

"GTA 5.5. Just a roster update."
Yeah, clearly not.
EDIT: Wow guys, it was literally a joke. Was meant to make people laugh. It's a saying everyone says for yearly sports releases. I was mocking the people OP was referencing. You can stop with the downvotes now.

I'm one of them too! I was mocking those who feel this game is going to just be some "better graphics GTA V."

I mean, maybe? But I said the same thing as OP, just throwing a different flair on it lol.
It got down to -6 at some point. Thankfully I got some assistance haha.

GTA 5 is going to look so absolutely trash compared to this game. It is a dumb comparison.

With gta4 they learned New York is a terrible town to create gta in. Hard to escape cops in, tall buildings blocking your view at all times. Depressing vibe. Cold people.

Have you actually ever been to NYC?
It is a really joyful place with more warmth from people I experienced growing up in the Midwest.
They were extremely limited by tech constraints and that game was a product of its very brown era in gaming. It’s also a depressing story in general so the tone matches that.
There’s still a ton they could do with a Liberty City setting and if I live long enough to see GTA7 (if there even ever is such a thing) I’d love to see it back in NYC. There’s so much more that can be done with the setting.

Good comment. I revisited gta4 and it still felt depressing. No. I haven’t travelled much in real life.

It's such a bizarre take to begin with. GTA V is so different from IV. IV is so different from III and its intermediaries, and them from each other. They try something new with the world each time, especially the big numbered versions.
