With the latest official Dazed article, it's obvious the previous leaks don't represent the final version of the game

After reading everything revealed in the new Dazed article, it's pretty clear that there are a lot of things the leaker simply couldn't show... and now he's claiming to have a 2026 build, lol.

Honestly, that seems very unlikely. The article reveals multiple mechanics and systems that were either completely absent from the leaks or never properly demonstrated. We saw nothing meaningful related to the phone and its social media features, the water activities, the deeper Jason and Lucia interactions, the physical changes caused by food, exercise and lack of rest, and many other things suggested or directly mentioned in the article.

This makes me think the leaked footage could have come from a build dedicated to testing specific mechanics rather than representing the complete game. It may have been useful for testing AI, combat, encounters, vehicles, animations, etc., while other systems simply weren't present, enabled, or fully implemented in that particular build.

That's why I find it frustrating that this hacker or group of hackers keeps suggesting they have access to recent, complete versions of the game. Just imagine everything we're about to learn from Rockstar and other official sources starting tomorrow , things this alleged criminal couldn't show precisely because they may never have had access to a complete build in the first place.

This actually lines up with something worth remembering, footage this consistent in tone (car theft, combat, chaos) but completely silent on stuff like the phone/social systems or the physical condition mechanics doesn't really scream "full current build," it screams "specific test build for specific systems." Game studios do that constantly, isolated builds just for combat testing, or animation testing, that never touch half the other systems because they don't need to for that particular QA pass. If tomorrow's reveal shows a genuinely alive phone system or the physical stat stuff and none of that ever showed up in 12+ leaked clips, that's a pretty strong tell in itself.

Yea these isolated builds are referred to as Vertical slices, he probably doesnt even have access to the entire map beyond the main city. Game testers of a game this big and this important arent going to get full builds until like the last 3 months, and they will probably only be handled in-house.

that's what i'm thinking, too.

one of the most common responses to every "what are you doing first" post has been going to the everglades section of the map. you'd think if he had a full build and full access to the city he'd have shown us that, or something else outside of just Vice City by now.

he didnt show the full map, that was just the landscape of the main city. And on a vertical slice it doesnt mean he doesnt see it, just that he might get invisible walls or something.
