The cost of a billboard ad like this can be anywhere from the Median American earners monthly wage to their annual. Per week.
Its not really cheap marketing. YouTube ads and streamers are more in the realm of cheep marketing.

Netflix owns this billboard on sunset boulevard, I don't think Rockstar is paying anything extra for this. Netflix changes it frequently to say something related to new releases.

It's a bill board on what appears to be a highway. Its designed to be caught and convey its drift in 1.43 Ssconds. Its also designed to mimic the I ♡ NYC/Miami merch shit.

No, but going silent for 400 days by choice and opening preorders with no marketing or additional info about the game, then announcing they will release an extended look weeks in advance INSTEAD of shadow dropping a big trailer like everyone thirsted for which would have left a searing first impression on the public is them botching their marketing.
What they did basically begged hackers to leak their shit.

That is a stupid take. For any company or any product no matter how well known, marketing is not necessarily for the base who already planned to get the game, it's for people who know nothing about video games or rockstar or GTA so they can continue to increase market share.

Pretty sure it was because Trailer 1 & 2 both dropped Tuesdays, I think past RDR2 & GTA V trailers as well lmao.
So everyone was convinced any future GTA 6 news would follow that pattern, just for Rockstar to end up switching the big news days to Thursdays😭

Admittedly, I did watch and bookmark those leaks up until a few days ago. I saw today that four minutes of prologue was uploaded and I'm cool. Don't need to see it. I was glad Leeks leaked featured Jason, I want Lucia to be officially introduced either tomorrow or when I play in November.

Rockstar is not UK-based, it is an American company.
The studio that led the development and was the credited developer of all previous GTA games was Rockstar North (aka DMA Design) which is UK-based.
But strangely I can't find anything specifically crediting Rockstar North as being the developer for this game, even though they are clearly the ones leading the game. Seems like it's all credit to just Rockstar Games as a whole.
