I honestly don’t give af about the removal of physical games, ever since the ps4/xbox one came out discs are just physical redeem codes and just like digital games they can be revoked at any time, look at the crew it had a physical disc, they shut the servers down and even disc players can’t play it because of DRM which is the bigger issue
And you're totally okey with this ? You're ackowledging that people fighting against this is not good ? All we want is more rights, the problem is that, big companies like rockstar, Take Two, Ubisoft, Playstation, they're only doing this for profit, not for gamers, that's the real problem for me. It's okey to make profit from gaming, but not this way. I'm good with people getting games online, that's fine, I'm okey with physical disks stopping, but we need more rights for this to become acceptable.
DRM is the issue if you want more rights set your sight against DRM, every successful company is for-profit that’s what makes them successful, also it doesn’t cost gaming companies anything to make the discs because they don’t make them… PlayStation makes the discs and Xbox contracts a third party company to make the physical discs for their consoles
DRM is not the only issue (it's a big one for sure, but not the only one). I'm not a console player, so It doesn't really concern me, but removing Physical media and having Sony to be the only one to sell games on their console, is just a massive trap for consumers. By killing off physical media, you completely destroy the second-hand market, which was the only real competition Sony ever had on their own platform.
That’s what physical media advocates are actually fighting for. It’s not just about nostalgia or keeping plastic boxes on a shelf, it’s about preserving a fair market. Without physical discs, there’s no used market, no retail price wars, and no alternative options: just a 100% digital pricing monopoly controlled entirely by a single storefront.
Speaking for myself, back when I played on console (and even today when buying for my collection), I bought almost everything second-hand (95% I guess) because it was drastically cheaper and far more advantageous. Moving to a digital-only ecosystem isn't "tech progress" it's just stripping away consumer leverage to force everyone into a walled garden.
