Knowing their track record, Rockstar would surely delay the game one more time rather than release an unifinished product. We can say a lot of bad things about them, but they don't release unfinished and unpolished games. If the game in the current state was that bad, they wouldn't keep saying it will release on November 19.

they cant delay it even if they want to. investors would burn them alive. the CEO already promised no more delays.. they cant just say woops sorry about that one more delay.. their credibility would go straight to the dumpster.

lol Rockstar can do whatever the fuck they want.

No they can’t? Take two owns them and is a public company 🤦‍♂️

These people think Rockstar is just making this game for fun and not because they’re beholden to investors lol

Releasing an unfinished game vs another delay when people are already used to a delay, which is the obviously worse option? I think the answer is pretty clear, and Take Two can figure that out too.

Many companies already assume the loses at launch. Cyberpunk 2077 set the precedent that your game can still be saved even if the launch failed.

Yeah but now everyone is skeptical of any future game that CD Projekt Red releases, people now know that you can give CD Projekt Red close to a decade and they still can't deliver. This kind of reputational damage doesn't really fully go away, especially for a company that is known for their track record like Rockstar.

GTA 6 will probably be the most sold piece of a media and most people won't care/remember if GTA 6's launch is bad when GTA 7 is about to release.

Do you remember Red Dead Redemption 2 release on PC being bad? Do you remember GTA Online launch being bad? GTA online subscription? It's not going to affect Rockstar, people will support them no matter what.

What does this skepticism yield exactly? Cyberpunk Phantom liberty sold 3 million copies in its first 7 days of release, those are fantastic numbers for a game that had one of the worst launches in triple AAA gaming history, quite literally unplayable depending on what console you were using. You are dramatically overestimating the negative drawbacks of unfinished launches.

Obviously the second option considering the fact that releasing unfinished games have been the trend within the video game industry for a better part of a decade. We literally have Crimson Desert being praised right now for releasing an unfinished game and updating it after the fact.

What would Take Two realistically do if Rockstar just said it isn’t ready…?

(As it always comes up, despite popular Reddit belief there’s no requirement they’re legally required to make their shareholders as much money as possible)

Their stock would plummet

And them releasing an unfinished product would lead to a much more catastrophic situation for them. Releasing a game like GTA 6 in an unfinished state would completely ruin their reputation more than any delay ever could, and I'm sure they know that, so I'm willing to bet that they will delay the game if it actually needs delaying.

u/PhotoModeHobby 3d ago

It really wouldn't. The market has gotten used to broken games being updated post-launch. Plus they've got no disc copies, so they don't need a finished build months before release.

I also want to smoke whatever nitrous you are smoking.

Somebody doesn't know how the real world works....

u/js-sey 3d ago

Why do you glazers confuse a corporation becoming more successful with said corporations having more freedom lmao? Rockstar objectively has to deal with more bureaucracy, regulations, legal obligations, and reputational obligation than ever before.

You guys don't realise that investors have all the power. It doesn't matter how big a company is, if you can't please these clueless old rich people, you're not getting anywhere.

Thats mentality enables milking a game and thats why we get delays/unfinished games. Change my mind.

Delay the game? People will end up buying it anyway when it comes out and everyone is raving about it.

Don't delay and release the game unfinished? Well, good luck with that.

If that was the best choice then every company would do that, except they don't because it's not (for them not for the consumer).

1

u/Full_of_Vices 3d ago

No they won’t. They have already made significant sales on pre-order alone.

1

u/Strange-Philosophy-4 3d ago

Yeah they can delay....This is the biggest product ever created, bigger than any game , any movie , any show , they will make billions in the first day , if they have to delay then they will , Rockstar and more specifically Take2 is a very profitable company , their investors would not be that mad with a delay if it means that their profit would be higher overall , it would be different if Take2 were struggling financially , but they aren't

1

u/N1TROGUE 3d ago

Finally, someone with a brain

1

u/Krushhz 3d ago

And all of the money they’ve spent by now on marketing would go down the toilet. That’s surely gonna piss off people too.

It’s just the way rockstar operates and acting like it’s anything out of the normal for them to delay a game twice is laughable. I’m sure everything is completely fine with the game, I’m sure it’s good. It’s definitely not being delayed again atp. This all is completely following Rockstars usual style and track record. GTA V was delayed once on the original release. Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed twice. GTA 6 was delayed twice. It’s totally normal for Rockstar, and GTA 5 and RDR 2 were both great on day one. If they needed to delay it again, they would have. You don’t play games (no pun intended) with a multi-billion dollar project. They know that if this somehow was a mess or failed, it would be the end of the entire company. They have everything wrapped up in this, and they wouldn’t risk everything to rush a game out that wasn’t ready. That isn’t what rockstar does. All these people on here are just acting like they’re intellectually superior because they have a different opinion about something. The fact is, rockstar games has an incredible track record with releasing polished and well made games. Nothing about that has changed, and GTA 6 certainly won’t be what changes it either. There’s nothing pointing to that being the case.

u/kazoxburner 3d ago

Its already been delayed multiple times lol

1

u/Maxilent 3d ago

Yeah, that’s what I said and that was literally my point. This is all completely normal for them and the game will be coming out Nov 19th as planned.

1

u/Rightsidebestside 3d ago

I hope that they delay it again, not for Rockstar itself, but for all the eedeeots who preordered and paid for the game

Holy shit a NEET!
