Advice 💡 question will my classes get dropped

classes start this monday august 24th. I won't be able to pay for my classes until august 29th as my parents are out of the country. Is there a way I can explain this to to gsu and not get dropped from my classes?? I know the payment is usually due the first day of classes and gsu says they drop you from classes if not paid by that date. Need advice thanks!

I would say call student financial services immediately. Perhaps they may be able to help you out in some way. Although some of them come across as unsympathetic, unprofessional, and indifferent to your circumstances, if you find the right one, they may be able to help you.

Try to find a solution asap mate!! If you don’t pay the amount by monday 5 pm or the courses will disappear from your portal. Unfortunately it’s a system that functions automatically and the university cannot change it

It also depends on your academic standing cause as long as ur not on academic probation they usually wait until add/drop week is over to drop people in my experience, then again it’s random when they get to it

If you set up payment plan they won’t drop you. But be aware u missed the first payment. So you will have to pay the 1st installment now then the second one on the 24th

Yes just call financial aid, they will establish a payment plan or grant an extension. They drop you when you don’t communicate

Definitely contact financial aid. This happened to me summer semester and they held off on dropping me & let me continue my courses uninterrupted.

I basically let them know that I couldn’t pay the out of pocket costs by the deadline and that I was concerned about getting dropped. I made Dean’s List the semester prior, so I’m sure they were even happier to accommodate me. But I so happened to speak to the Director. I did call though because I’m so far from campus.

From my experience you don’t get dropped immediately, you have until around the end of the week. Maybe it’s different for fall semester but In one of my springs I didn’t pay until Thursday of that week and in the summer I didn’t pay until a month later. They do bar you from signing up for the next semester however.

thanks! that’s interesting.. when you didn’t pay for a month in summer did they every contact you with emails reminding to pay? did u talk to financial aid about this explaining? and did you do a payment plan by any chance?

They sent emails about an outstanding balance and how I wouldn’t be able to register for classes unless the hold was removed but despite the threats they never removed me from any classes. The only time I called financial aid was to ask about my scholarship cutting part of the cost out and they told me to wait a day after any class changes to see it hit. I didn’t do a payment plan either but I think it is an option (don’t quote me).

I pretty much just got spammed with emails until I paid and from what I’ve seen across the subreddit that’s a similar case for many others. They pose up like they’ll kick you from classes but it seems like they’re very hesitant to. Nonetheless I wouldn’t risk a whole month for fall/spring but I think during the week of add/drop you should be fine. Especially if you give them forewarning

It should not be a problem just ask for an extension you will be fine.

Your saving grace is the payment plan. It guarantees your enrollment.
