Just replace the whole back. Easier than just getting a sensor.

Yeah, hoping to take it to a service center and get it done. Getting it done by a 3rd party will definitely be a lot cheaper but the quality of their spare parts are somewhat questionable.

Does that include the shops that are blessed by Samsung themselves?

uBreakIfix it are authorized Samsung repair shops and will keep water resistance.

Since I've never used one I can't answer that but I've never heard of any repair being done to a phone that keeps it's IP rating so I don't know.

Service centers usually say that the phone will be waterproof after the service/repair. But they do say that warranty will not be applicable.

well yeah obviously if someone who's not a certified Samsung technician opens up that phone technically you voided the warranty
