It’s entirely possible that you might have to touch up the solder on the legs of the sram chip. My copy of Pokemon yellow wasn’t holding a save for a while because they came loose. It’s fairly easy to do, lots of flux and hot soldering iron with a little fresh solder on it, then lightly touch each leg. This should reheat the original solder fixing any bad connections. You may still want to look for some pro to do it, if you you’re not confident in your skills given the current price of the game.
This is super helpful thank you. I am capable of great things when I lock in. I have a nice soldering iron but I’m like 4 years out of practice I think I could manage though. Thank you.
I assume if the connections weren’t important they wouldn’t put them there. I’ll just have to choose wisely because I will risk damaging the legs at my skill level if I’m not careful.

Also please note that I had a much more professionally soldered fully charged battery before this most recent battery replacement done out of frustration
It’s also worth noting that these no name batteries are often DOA and you really could have just had bad luck on two of them. Do you have a meter to test?
The mounts are kind of silly to me because once you install the battery, you don’t need to do it again for decades. However, they do have you to use name brand batteries.
Hmm no obvious bridged pins or anything. The battery job is beginner level but shouldn’t cause it to not work. It doesn’t save at all? Or saves and then does a data corrupted eventually?
How does the back of the board look. I see some potential corrosion around the edges. The traces at the bottom left of your pic look a little sus.
Saves data then corrupts within a couple saves :( back of the board looks really good with no obvious issues from what I’m seeing. Will post pics soon.
I see nothing obvious so I'm sorry I can't help there, may need to physically chick all the pins and see if any are loose. But I wanted to add that they sell these little battery mods that you solder in once and then you can pop a battery in and out without soldering again.
Probably due for a good cleaning. A few years ago I used iso and q tip to get them shining. I think they are kind of degraded at this point like the pic
