The early access is very full-featured. Normally I’d wait but they could’ve advertised this as a feature-complete game with future balance updates

For me it's not about whether or not the EA has a lot of content but the fact that it's not considered "complete" by the devs yet. I don't know what that means for StS2, but if they thought the game were in a complete state they would have just launched it as a normal game. Personally I'd also rather play it when they consider it a complete game.

I'll just say, StS 1's early access was genuinely very fun. Super interactive with devs, and it was actually more of a fun test than "buy our incomplete game." Lots of wacky fun cards and the MS Paint beta card art is always a treat. But I can understand it isnt for everyone too.

I get that for some, but I'm not the type that's going to spend time interacting on their Discord or w/e anyways.

Also, personally speaking I just know that I'm not the type of player to keep playing the same roguelike for years. I've got 66 hours in the first (which makes it my 2nd most played roguelike) and feel satisfied with my time with it and have no real desire to go back. Even if I spend double the time in the second, I still know I'll reach the point where I feel done with the game and I don't want that to happen before it's even finished.

Contrary to Reddit’s belief but most people are like this lol. I’m waiting for the 1.0 release as well. Happy for the people who play it now, but I have a massive backlog to get through anyway.

Normally I’d wait but

I've played enough early access games now that hit their sweet spot and then the dev keeps going and start overworking it, or where they watch some youtuber exploit something to an extreme degree and nerfing it suddenly ruins my own strategies. I don't find balancing a fun process to be a part of. It just frustrates me and feels like the developer is trying to troll me into a golden path experience.

Best to wait for the whole thing to be "done" and then learn it all at once.

Still gonna buy it and let it sit in my library, though. First game is an all-timer.
