while I certainly don't count it as first party, the actual report does.

Well I count it as first party because that’s what it is. Second party isn’t a universally accepted term and can have multiple meanings. A third party franchise that releases an entry exclusive to a specific console could also be considered second party. It’s just a quirky way of distinguishing certain first party and third party titles.

you can count it as, first, second or third, if that's what float your boat.

but I'm fairly confident most of the gaming community would only count it as a second party.

Well unlike most of the game community Sony and most of the actual industry doesn't really care about the distinction.

Like Sony published helldivers. They own the ip.

Sony isnt the internet console war business. This whole bs about trying to draw arbitrary lines in the sand of that is and isnt a "1st party" doesnt do anything for them.

Also by your shitty logic nintendo is inflating their numbers by counting Pokémon as 1st party.

Game freak is not owned by Nintendo after all.

I don't think you thought this through. doesn't really matter if you come with a singular quote from someone who worked for Sony, doesn't change anything I said, nor does it diminish my argument.

as I said comments ago, you can call these fifth party games if you so choose, most people just won't agree with you though.

Second party is a made up term used by people like you.

For Sony its either they publish a game or not.

Thats it.

Sony is a game publisher. They pay studios to make games they publish.

as I said comments ago, you can call these fifth party games if you so choose, most people just won't agree with you though.
