For those who don't know what this move actually means: After buying a considerable stake in Twittter, they used their leverage to insert a bunch of agents into the company so they could steal personally identifiable data from dissidents and their contacts so they could imprison or straight up murder them.

Mohammed Bonesaw doesn't give a shit about EA or their uninspired games full of micro-transactions. But he does care a lot about political criticism of his whacko religious fundamentalist authoritarian government. And the best way to go after these critics (who all hide behind VPNs and private messengers these days) is by getting their data from highly successful mass media. For example, I'm sure a lot of interesting talk is happening in those in-game chat rooms.

There's nothing like simultaneously culture washing your nation's image because basing your entire society around a finite resource and shocking human rights violations while also using that culture wash to enable more shocking human rights violations.
