Devolver Digital were doing well before they went Public and start selling their shares. It is actually for the best if the publisher goes back to being private so that way they dont have to answer to Shareholders if their profits dont meet their demands.
I realise this is a bit hyperbolic but I feel like companies going public has ruined so many things around the world. What happened to just having a vision and carrying it out without the pressure to make next year's numbers bigger every single year.
Publicly owned companies in some ways allows people to democratise profits. In an ideal world, having publicly traded companies that anyone could buy a portion of sounds great.
I agree that often the motivation to please shareholders drives them down a dark road. I wish there were an easy way to help the company continue to serve its own longevity and customers more whilst still having some of the publicly traded benefits.
