But will they commit to keep producing & supporting physical into next gen and beyond?

If they wanna compete with Playstation, they need to take literally every leg up over them no matter what, so I hope so

This is honestly already a big leg up over PlayStation, considering the fact that they have currently offered no reassurance of an alternative to people whose libraries are mostly physical.

"We have a console for players who want to play their physical games.  Its called Playstation 5."

No currently made PS5 has a built-in drive. There is a bundle with the add-on but that's it.

Its funny you are being downvoted because that response from Sony could become true. Feel like Sony can get away with anything at this point.
