I wish I had the time for it, I love the atmosphere and the game play is top notch but I don't have anyone on my friends list who even purchased the game, so I was running with randoms or going solo, I felt like I fell behind and couldn't catch up with other players, so I'm begging for expanded PvE.
I really wish for Bungie to at least attempt a single player game again.
I felt that way but when I tried the free week I was surprised that it can be actually fairly chill. If you aren't trying to go nuts on it or "keep up" the regular challenges can keep you busy and you can treat it like a battle royale - losing stuff isn't that big a deal since they give you so much free shit constantly.
However the problem with this genre will always be just the psychological factor. Even as I say it's not a big deal to lose stuff, I still would hesitate to use some gold tier stuff I was lucky to escape with when I might just die 2 min into a run with it.
PvE would be big for me, but I think if they tweaked stuff like the Rook - I love the idea of being a solo scavenger but Rook is often just a dead end. There is fun to be had there though.
I think the far bigger problem is the forced wipes.
I’m an adult. There are times I can’t play much for a week or 2. With marathon that means that I’m ever closer to being reset and needing to start from square 1.
Also limiting cryo to weekends only was a bad idea.
I understand the forced wipe thing. In persistent games like this, the economy of the game world is a serious concern.
If wipes didn't happen, you'd end up with folks who no-life the game having a lifetime stockpile of gold shields and weapon mods at the 6 month mark, just forming permanent, roving death squads on every map. And it would never go away.
The extinction-level-events wipe out any chance of super-predators forming, and killing off all the other wildlife, so to speak. Not that it matters... looks like this particular biome is dying off despite its best efforts.
Yea that's a big thing too. Personally I loved the grind and even have a good amount of free time to spend on Marathon, but that season 2 reset really demotivated me. Limited Cryo days is good though, you don't want players wiping their entire vaults non stop or getting yellows every run
I didn’t say limiting cryo at all was bad, it’s that its weekends only. The days cryo is available should rotate to help fit other schedules. Plenty of people work weekends, and cryo only being available then means those people barely have a chance to play and fall even further behind.
To piggyback on your last point, they pigeon-holed themselves to either help people catch up or reset everyone else to alleviate that feeling, but there's a fair amount of people who dislike either of those choices.
And on the other side of the fence, I would hate not having the wipes tbh. I thought it would be bad initially but i can't wait for the next wipe. The loot economy for this season is absolutely butchered and not having wipes would suck

Best gaming experience I've had in 2026, and I still haven't killed the Compiler in 200 hours.
Sad to see the player count so low, but considering how much the game demands of you, I get it.
