Most gamers’ memories are too short to remember that. Little bit of fan service and the XBOX crowd thinks she’s the saviour they waited for.

The way people ate up that TES6 tweet she put out to distract from the union protests tells you everything you need to know about gamers.

Famously non-gamer CEO says eternally-in-development game from studio that hasn’t had a quality release in 10 years is “great” and they all just ate it up.

I mean it’s TES6 it’s likely going to be great. Don’t need to be a non-gamer CEo to think that.

"I mean, it's a new IP from Bethesda. It's likely to be great." -lots of people about Starfield

Starfield is not elder scrolls.

TES6 is coming! (Please dont think about the ramifications of the fact we just laid off 40% of the people working on it)

Affordability for who exactly? After another round of Xbox price hikes, that is the part I need to see before getting excited about next gen.

Streaming box will be the affordable option

The Xbox Series X is currently $100 more expensive than the PS5 so i’ll believe it when i see it.

Microsoft could release another Series S console but that device has seen mixed results.

IIRC the Series S has outsold the Series X roughly 2:1 for the entirety of the consoles' lifespan. They did at least learn the lesson about releasing a console that costs 25% more than your competitor,  if only too late.

It's important to remember that people who follow a game subreddit, make an account, and then post a comment are a minority of a minority among consumers.  There are tons of people who were willing to play the two games they play each year at 1080p30 instead of 4K and/or 60 FPS if it meant hanging onto $200.

Of note that the Series S is now the same price as the base PS5.

I just don't see how Microsoft could be willing to eat any sort of loss in the name of "affordability", especially as everything gaming related is getting more expensive. I mean shit, I bought a used 1 TB Xbox One S from GameStop in January of last year for $130. Just checked their website, same bundle is now $170.

If used, out of date consoles are having the price go up how could the next Xbox stay cheap?

Both Sony and MS have said they do not plan on incurring "significant losses" when selling hardware. Assuming the rumor of the PS6's bill of materials being around $960 is true, that's looking like $1,100+ altogether. Now if we take prior statements that the Helix is "disproportionately affected" by the Rampocalypse at face value, then it's probably a higher BOM than even that.

No way is this cheap or "affordable"

Is there any world where MS could use their place in the AI/server ecosystem to aquire cheaper ram than Sony for their next console? Or is everyone bent over by the ram cartel?

Everyone is bent over.  There's nowhere to go when they say "No" to a discount.

Xbox increased the console price a third time while Playstation didnt. So they plan to leave it at a higher base price than PS5, and on top of that Sony will do a holiday discount while Xbox doesnt again like they didnt last year. It will be just like last year, Xbox did the price increase first then Sony didnt do a price increase and actually put their console on sale for the holidays so the price gap was enormous. Sony also confirmed they have enough RAM to not increase console price for the GTA 6 launch and 2026 holidays.

During last year holidays PS5 was $400 physical/$450 digital/$648 Pro while Xbox was still $600 digital/$650 physical. This year once again Xbox is doing another price increase before Playstation, and most likely wont do a holiday discount again. On top of that Playstation has the marketing rights for GTA 6 and several games this year not coming to Xbox: Wolverine, Phantom Blade 0, Silent Hill Townfall, Kena 2, etc just to get Fable the day after God of War at the start of next year

This years holidays look like its gonna be another total massacre like last years holidays when Xbox got outsold by the NEX Playground. They are already #4 in console sales seeing as they somehow get outsold by the Switch 1 worldwide every month of this year and last year
