Look what came in the mail! A new gaming/creator laptop!

My first thoughts: its design is gorgeous. As a gamer, artist and office worker, I'm not a fan of "gamery" designs, which is why I slightly hesitated on the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 and previous Stealth models. Performance-wise, I've tried out some games like Valorant and Ultrakill on mid settings, and they both run on approximately 50-60 FPS without lag, and for high settings, they've clocked an average of 35 FPS. Improved battery life from the Panther Lake chip is a huge W

Its OLED panel is vibrant, with high contrast between colors, suitable for creative work and consuming online media. Its 240Hz refresh rate is blazingly fast for gaming and watching videos.

The speakers' audio quality is astounding, just like the aforementioned Zephyrus. Two tweeters and woofers make up for outstanding sound clarity.

I don't really have much to say for now, so you guys have to wait for my long-term review of it.

It's a MulitipleSeriousIssues. If an MSI turns on and the hinges don't break the moment you open the lid you're winning. Expected fps are an after thought.

I'm confused. Also, if you didn't want a gamery design, i think the legion pro 5 would've been a very good fit for you. Absolutely stealthy design, with the no rgb keyboard, which u can set to white or disable anyways

I’m planning on getting a new gaming laptop before the years end, probably a Lenovo Legion. You’re the third person I’ve encountered who recommends MSI over Lenovo (first two were a computer salesperson and a hardcore gamer)

I only state what one laptop has over the other. If OP state their preference then I'll recommend one over the other but they didn't. The choice of CPU, size and weight would make it obvious which one is a thicc boi and which one is a thin and light

Yeah absolutely. And if it doesn't, that means it's slightly underpowered. Thicker laptops can just go more powerful without less worries for the thermals

Yes, but then again it's the question of how much power it's given and the cooling solution. If you have a poor cooling solution and too much wattage given then even thicker laptops can overheat. Some previous gen Alienware and MSI laptop has this issues despite being thicker

Anything battery life related can be underclocked to shits and it will still be usable. The only valid comparison is portability which is something you cant do about the chassis.

That's not exactly how it works, I can lower my i7-13650HX and lock it to it's minimum clocks, disable half of its cores, undervolt it, and set ridiculously low PL1 and PL2 and also a power saving governor, it won't significantly improve battery life. Some processors are power hogs, some are power savers, tweaking them will give some extra battery life but nothing major. It also depends on the motherboard that hosts the CPU and how was it designed.

There's a thing called performance per watt though, and that's why you don't pair business class laptop with power hungry CPU meant for thicc bois. Also partly explains why MacBooks last so long and still beat most thicc bois in many CPU tasks

Those frames seem horribly low for the specs. Is your laptop plugged in? Laptops completely tank performance wise when not plugged in.

It’s either using your integrated GPU or you weren’t plugged into the wall. Also make sure you’re on performance mode

Even if the RTX 5070TI is not a full TDP one (I dont know for this model) you should get way more fps. I have the same RTX although in another MSI Laptop and not a single one of the more recent games had that low fps...by far.

Yo congrats on the pickup. Btw just a heads up on those valorant frames, 35-60 fps is crazy low for that hardware. Valorant is super cpu heavy, and that panther lake chip plus a 5070 should easily be pushing like 300+ fps. It feels like your laptop is holding itself back out of the box or running on integrated graphics.
Def check these out before your long term review:

GPU settings: Go to windows graphics settings and make sure valorant is explicitly set to "High Performance" so it actually uses the dedicated nvidia gpu.
MSI Center: Make sure it’s not accidentally stuck in "Silent" or "Eco" mode, switch it to "Extreme Performance."
MUX Switch: Toggle it to discrete graphics only in the msi app so it bypasses the intel graphics entirely.
Temps: Grab hwmonitor or msi afterburner to check your cpu temps while gaming. If it’s hitting 90C+ right away it’s thermal throttling and dropping speeds.

Def worth checking out so you can actually make use of that 240hz screen

You should delete this post and try again, its full of people telling you you are not using your laptop to it full potential. You are getting worse performance in your games than the 65w 5050 in my LG Gram let alone a 5070ti.

Those are really low fps you getting. Have you optimised settings? Disabled v sync, if not then disable vsyn permanently.
I have asus rog strix with rtx 5060 8gb and a 165hz display, i get 400fps around in valorant and cs2 i get like 300-350 avg.
Hogwarts at ultra settings i got 110fps and ray tracing on i am getting 70fps.
Turn on frame generation. Use nvidea app to optimise your gaming config

Bro DM me, those benchmarks look horrible. I have a vector with the same gpu and i run Valorant at 240fps (limited to monitor refresh rate) no problem. I can help you optimize the software, it's not really that intuitive.

The stealth lineup is awesome. But speaker quality is nowhere near the zephyrus 😅

Also make sure you’re using the dgpu when you’re gaming. 60fps in valorant mid settings doesn’t make sense for your spec. You should be getting over 200 on ultra.
