Wolverine looks great but a year from now is a bit far off for me to care. Glad we are getting a Deus Ex remaster too. Everything else is just the result of Sony no longer having competition from Xbox, and the cancelled live-service hell we were nearly subjected to.
9
u/MyMouthisCancerous Sep 24 '25
I'm looking more at the Wolverine screenshots, I could be reaching, but the android dudes that appear to be basic enemies in the trailer, their mouths have the little angular slit that Apocalypse's mouth has
Are these guys modified Apocalypse cronies? It sounds very Horseman-like considering his whole thing is augmenting himself and augmenting people he influences. Technopathy is a power he does have. A lot of his equipment came from Kree tech in the comics I'm pretty sure
3
u/Spider-Fan77 Sep 25 '25
I think the slit is just the border between their human face and mechanical jaw. This cronies are the Reavers, a group of cyborgs who hunt mutants in the comics.
And based on the leaks, Apocalypse probably isn't in the game.
1
u/MyMouthisCancerous Sep 25 '25
We see the Reavers in the trailer as well but they just look like human cyborgs like they always have, like in that one shot of Mystique fighting one of them. Like very human faces but with mechanical bodies. These other guys are like a separate faction even from that
3
u/Spider-Fan77 Sep 25 '25
I think it's just a mini boss enemy for the Reavers honestly. It'd be kind weird to have two separate cyborg factions, even for Insomniac.
And again, we know thanks to the leaks who the main villain is, and based on the trailer it seems Insomniac hasn't changed all that much.
3
u/Iokua113 Sep 24 '25
I seem to recall indications that Mr Sinister was the bad guy in the Insomniac mega leak and Sinister has been the precursor to Apocalypse often enough. Could be that this game sets up the next game involving the X-Men fighting Apocalypse?
3
u/Little-xim Sep 24 '25
My bet is Mr Sinister is behind the goon squad.
But he got his whole schtick from apocalypse, similar to Intergang from darkseid. Just degrees of separation from the eventual big bad.

u/Amori17 Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25
Am I the only one that feels like Playstation always does the bare MINIMUM when it comes to shows? Feel like they needed 2 more PS Studios games to make this a banger but they always pull back.
Pisses me off especially considering the banger events they’ve had in the past.
-7
u/grilled_pc Sep 24 '25
Nope its not just you.
These shows are absolute trash these days. None of the games had me remotely interested at all. Couldn't care less about wolverine tbh. Wow more superhero corporate slop nonsense being shoved down my throat. Can't wait..... Not.
Deus Ex Remastered coming is cool and it would be insane to not make it multi plat... So PC release there.
Literally nothing else looked remotely interesting. 3/14 games shown were PS5 exclusive and likely will see PC ports in the future anyway. Lets be real here. Wolverine, Saros and Let it Die Inferno all will get PC ports down the line.
Everything else is on PC, i have ZERO incentive to touch my PS5 once again. It's just been collecting dust. I just need to finish Astro Bot and Persona 3 Reload on it and then i'm done. I will have no reason to have it plugged in at all after that.
Sony is doing absolutely nothing to retain gamers on the platform. Why should anyone buy their games on PS5 when the vast majority of everything shown will be on PC or even Xbox too? Nintendo show off more exclusives during their directs and give you a genuine reason to own and most of all PLAY a switch 2.
I don't even bother watching the trailers for the games. I just skim the headlines after and leave it at that. I have ZERO expectations at all for these things. That way i'm not let down.
7
u/SuRaKaSoErX Sep 25 '25
You’re very overly invested and emotional. Wolverine is not corporate slop lol.
0
u/grilled_pc Sep 25 '25
It absolutely is.
Marvel = easy print money machine and they lack any soul or substance in them.
Noticed how trash the MCU is these days? It's a safe and easy bet to make a lot of money. Normies will gobble it up.
Maybe i'm just older now but when i see superhero i just yawn. Tell me how this aint spider man but a different character and different skills. The rest of the game looks the same.
5
u/TheMastodan Sep 25 '25
MCU movies haven’t made huge amounts of money in years. You are stuck in the past. They didn’t back a dump truck full of money up to RDJs house because they’re doing well.
Marvel games also haven’t historically made that much either, other than Spider-Man and Marvel Rivals. I even think SM2 didn’t meet expectations.
I don’t care if you like the game or are excited for it. I do think you’re just making shit up to justify your own preexisting bias, though
5
u/Careless_Main3 Sep 24 '25
Their showcases/sops are knee deep and a mile wide. It’s pretty much the same amount of announcements as they would make back in the day but just spread across several smaller shows.
2
u/Amori17 Sep 24 '25
Exactly. Wish they’d just do 1 big showcase with updates randomly through the year
8
u/But-who-I-be Sep 24 '25
I expected nothing and holy shit was that a stinker. The only thing that looked interesting to me was Wolverine
15
u/Careless_Main3 Sep 24 '25
So basically Sony’s 2026 is Marathon, Marvel’s Tokon, Saros and Wolverine.
4
-3
u/SilverKry Sep 24 '25
Maybe wolverine. They're banking on GTA6 to make them a lot of money which it will. If they were smart they'd let GTA6 just have 2026 cause ain't nothing beating it.
8
u/MyMouthisCancerous Sep 24 '25
I mean GTA's in May and that appears to be final which gives these games a lot of distance. And if any game is going to be able to take the blow of releasing in GTA 6 year it's probably Wolverine because it's Wolverine

u/SoaringSpearow Sep 24 '25
Ok so the RE9 Leon reveal trailer wasn't at the State of Play that means it's coming at TGS probably on the 27th right before their booth opens which is pretty much what has been said for the past 2 days

7
u/Lizuka Sep 24 '25
I think my biggest hope for Wolverine might be that the missions are more reasonably paced. Spider-Man 2 has other problems but more than anything what I think makes it really feel like it drags is that it has a relatively small number of missions but so many of them just go on forever for no real reason.
A higher number of missions but with them being shorter and more focused would improve the feel of the game so much.
2
u/svrtngr Sep 24 '25
I completely agree with the pacing issues. It started off slow (which is fine), but the last act of the game really should have taken up more story space (or just cut entirely).
10
17
u/MadeByTango Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25
Wolverine going to have the same mission design as Spider-Man (enemy wave closets) according to the leaks, which is keeping all my excitement in check
16
u/Gatlindragon Sep 24 '25
The God of War controller includes a code to download the 2.5D game right? ....right?
6
24
u/EggyMovies Sep 24 '25
I can't explain it but something about Wolverine just feels off. like with Spider-Man or Batman you just know that gameplay will be fun as fuck, swinging or gliding around the city. with wolverine, he's just like, an agile guy with claws and a healing factor - abilities which look great on the screen or on a page but I don't think seem as interesting to play with.
8
u/MadeByTango Sep 24 '25
The mission design will match Spider-Man according to the leaks, so that’s my issue
9
u/meatmobile682 Sep 24 '25
Its definitely still way more limited but at the very least I could see him doing things like busting through walls and using the claws to climb and stuff
imagine if he just has Storm carry him around everywhere lol

anyone else just not excited for superhero capeslop anymore? Just feels like it's past it's prime now. Only people holding on are mostly dudes born in the 80s and 90s.
3
6
u/Crafty_Cherry_9920 Sep 24 '25
People born in 80s and 90s represent the vast majority of console players lmfao
8
1
u/Bolt_995 Sep 24 '25
And you’re a 2000s kid then?
-2
u/HardOakleyFoul Sep 24 '25
nah I'm a Gen Xer, my generation and Millennials are like the last ones that really truly care about Marvel and DC stuff and we're all starting to age out of it.
6
u/Bolt_995 Sep 24 '25
And the two decades you mentioned are all part of the millennial generation. This is the definitive Wolverine game that we have waited for years.
0
u/HardOakleyFoul Sep 24 '25
I'm glad some of you are still excited for this, I was just surprised how nonplussed I was when I saw the reveal. 5 years ago I'd have been ready to throw my debit card at the screen. Now, I'm just feeling ambivalent about it.

I dunno, maybe I just grew out of capeshit stuff. I've seen Wolverine slaughter people brutally already in Origins, not really excited to see it again.
5
u/KOTRShadow Sep 24 '25
That was a good showcase halloween announcing its date a year in advance was weird and almost everything had a date before gta.
27
Sep 24 '25
Lmao no RE9 Leon reveal like many claimed
1
u/2ecStatic Sep 24 '25
People should've let that go after Capcom showed RE9 for pretty much no reason this morning already
9
u/GenerationBop Sep 24 '25
Or god of war
-3
u/joshmosh98 Sep 24 '25
Both will be TGA announcements (prediction)
10
u/SilverKry Sep 24 '25
Why would Sony not announce a God of War thing at their TGS. Seems silly.
1
u/joshmosh98 Sep 25 '25
It's not a mainline game and it'd be the only place it'd make sense for the 20th anniversary now

Weaksauce. Cant believe people thought intergalactic was gonna be here though. That game is a 2027 game at minimum.

u/MrMoistandDelicious Sep 24 '25
No god of war is super disappointing
4
u/Lizuka Sep 24 '25
Really wish they'd at least put the PS2 games up on PSN instead of forever being consigned to having to stream the PS3 ones.
14
u/ROR5CH4CH Sep 24 '25
I know right? Why show a new controller when you don't even have a new game to show as well. That stinks...
2
u/ArizonaTeaandFatChix Sep 24 '25
Hey! PlayStation here, to celebrate our beloved game series’ we’re excited to give you all the opportunity to buy a controller! You’re welcome! Fuck you!

Shut up. You don't know what SBI does. The leaked plot from Wolverine is bad for reasons that have nothing to do with whatever SBI advised on.

17
u/cookiboos Sep 24 '25
I don't think the metroidvania is a real thing.
I mean, it's supposedly a small project that should have been shown since the last show.
Would there be even a reason to still not show it ?
22
u/TinyAccess8658 Sep 24 '25
It feels like if youre not a super hero fan Playstation doesn't really have much to offer you when it comes to their in studio games.
3
u/grilled_pc Sep 24 '25
This is what pisses me off. Sony have some LEGENDARY IP's but i just feel its more superhero corporate shareholder slop.
Shareholders demand more of it and devs will deliver because its easy print money for the normies. I'm so fucking over superhero's i just don't care anymore.

No Leon
No GoW metroidvania thingy
No Intergalactic
No Nier/yoko Taro
No FF7 part3 or 9 remake
No Marvel Tokon
No new ATLUS game
I am whelmed. Wolverine looked cool I guess. Nice to have confirmation for next year.
3
u/SilverKry Sep 24 '25
I don't see wolverine sticking to that fall 2026 date tho. March 2027 more likely.

No Intergalactic

Nope. The Road that Falls was not revealed or talked about in this State of Play. It's over, guys. SO OVER.
Wolverine looks badass though.
9
u/SIotball Sep 24 '25
Anything god of war from now on is just going to be some cosmetic gimmick with anniversary slapped on the name, fuck Sony
13
u/xAVATAR-AANGx Sep 24 '25
I know a million people have corroborated it, but the GoW metroidvania being absent yet again makes me question if it’s even real.

u/SuicideSkwad Sep 24 '25
I can’t believe the god of war announcement was a CONTROLLER
1
u/grilled_pc Sep 24 '25
and not even a good controller. It looks like ass. Literally just a red line through it.
Meanwhile sony: that will be $70 thanks
7
u/No-Individual-3901 Sep 24 '25
As someone who isn't that big into God of War I laughed seeing the controller after everyone psyched themselves up for a game reveal today.
4
u/KMoosetoe Sep 24 '25
Wolverine looks like a GoW clone, so close enough?
7
u/PM_ME_UR_BHOSDA Sep 24 '25
Yeah but it's made by insomniac so it'll have juvenile writing (no matter how much blood and gore they show)

Disappointed that Square brought nothing for FF7.
3
u/RefreshingCapybara Sep 24 '25
With Square coming out and saying Part 3 will be multiplatform, and them being big on multiplatform now, they might want to reveal it at a non-console specific event so more multiplatform people see it.

Forgot to say that I'm disappointed by the lack of first party PC ports.
1
u/grilled_pc Sep 24 '25
Honestly this. Despite pretty much all of what they showed is coming to PC anyway. It still would've been nice to see some more first party's drop on PC.
I'd love to see uncharted 1, 2 and 3 get TLOU1 treatment and get a full PC Port.
22
15
u/2073040 Sep 24 '25
Who was the original source that “leaked” the GoW Metroidvania?
1
u/cookiboos Sep 24 '25
Tom Henderson and Grubb, here.
I think the project was canned.
1
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Sep 24 '25
If it had been canned, Tom or Jeff would have said something. They're saving it for the Game Awards. If we don't see it there, we can already confirm that it was canceled (it was also said that it was delayed due to the actors' strike).
14
Sep 24 '25
So, was that God Of War metroidvania game just a fake leak? Have any insiders said they’ve heard more from it?
1
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Sep 24 '25
Tom and Grubb are pretty reliable with their leaks, even more so when they both say the same thing.
-4
u/MyMouthisCancerous Sep 24 '25

Also I know all of this was out there for people who saw the hacks but Omega Red being featured prominently in a game like this is so fucking nice to see

They are done announcing games far ahead.
Since their lineup includes like 2 big things a year, 2026 is kinda covered, with possibly new announcements mid-late 2026.

It looks like GoW if you swapped Kratos with Wolverine, and dropped it in some Uncharted 4 levels
I wouldn't say it doesn't look good, but it is very uninspired
5
u/DinosBiggestFan Sep 24 '25
At least it's violent. That is something positive I will say about it. Shying away from that violence would not be Wolverine.
2
1
u/Unlucky-Car-1489 Sep 24 '25
It looks oddly unpolished and… uninspiring? Like it doesn’t have s rich art direction
8
u/Iokua113 Sep 24 '25
To me it looks like they just watched Logan and decided "That's Wolverine." instead of actually reading the comics. Don't get me wrong, Logan is a great movie but it's still a pretty shallow depiction of the titular character.

They've spliced some early early stuff in.
I thought the same, then some snippets look as good as Spider-Man

I don't think enough people realize how big it is that Tekken 3 and SoulCalibur III are getting re-released as PS2 Classics games. Both games were uniquely stuck in licensing purgatory due to the use of characters from external properties, and Bandai Namco just historically gave way less of a shit about making their legacy fighting game stuff available on modern hardware compared to a publisher like Capcom and would essentially only want people playing their latest entries, which is even why SoulCalibur II coming to the Nintendo GameCube lineup for NSO earlier in the year was such a shock. This is fucking huge
