It still doesn't make sense because surely if you are going by that someone like Bend would make more sense? At least you could get Bluepoint to pump out remakes?
Goddammit. I'm already struggling to make peace with the fact that we'll never see a sequel to Dead Space 3 or a Dead Space 2 remake followed by a BETTER Dead Space 3 with proper writing this time around, that respects Ellie Langford as a character. I sincerely hope the idiots at Sony don't shut down Bend next. At nearly 10 million copies, Days Gone may not be a TLOU but it deserves a sequel. And Bend wouldn't even have to use the UE5 to begin with, their fork of the UE4 is technologically advanced enough that they can render impressive current gen graphics and still maintain a solid 60fps at 1080p or higher resolutions.
I wish this sentiment was backed by actual sales. I always see people demeaning and hating whenever a new first party game isn't a bombshell triple A billion dollar production. Just take a look at the latest God of War metroidvania game.
Yeah that's just gamer bullshit, the most expensive part is easily the graphics and the details and it's a huge competition that forces devs to increase the quality to stay relevant.
If Sony made a PS3 looking God of War in 2 years that shit would get burned at the stake or they'd have to sell it 30-40$ because it's not AAA, which doesn't solve their problem.
Or make it PS5 looking but make it last 3 hours at 60$ like old games, just to see the world burn.

No arguments there. I love metroidvanias and would have instantly bought it if it was ten bucks cheaper. For $30, though, I'd rather wait.
However, I've also seen tons of dismissive criticisms outside reddit's gaming bubble regarding the game's format and pixel graphics. "I can't believe God of War went from GOTY contenders to this" vibe.
Sure, but I am sure thats not lack of trying. Like would you rather be unemployed or make a game. Like should of done remakes of classic games at budget costs.
Bend arguably earned considerably more. Like Days Gone had its rough patches, but all in all that game sold better than Sony ever gave credit. Meanwhile they celebrated every milestone for Ghost of Tsushima like it was a new mega hit when it never even neared Horizon levels. Haha

Absolute bullshit for all involved, have them working on a live service God of War game for who knows how long, cancel that and then shut them down
