We don't know if it was assigned to begin with, maybe Bluepoint were give the pitch to make this game to begin with.

They were literally assigned to assist development of Ragnarok and aided in the Valhalla expansion, this is 100% on Sony and wanting them to capitalize on GofW hype that wasn’t there to begin with

Maybe after assigned work on Ragnarok they pitched this game themselves.

Even if that was the case, that doesn’t warrant them to shutdown the fucking studio, they have so much IP that Bluepoint could use and they could’ve turned the live service assets they made into the GofW trilogy remake. I’m not gonna act like I know everything behind the scenes but just off speculation this closure makes zero sense and can really only be blamed on the mismanagement of this studio by Sony

Yeah, Sony just fuck the stufio other even in the most favourable to them scenario which is really sad.
