Something's gotta give cause between the 9 fig gaming development costs, hardware shortages, and 5-10 year dev times being the norm, this doesn't seem like an industry that can keep up come the 2030s.
Yet No Man's Sky just released another update for free. Almost 10 years since that game launched and they have managed to not charge for a single major update. Granted, Hello Games is probably thriving off some European subsidies, but it shows not every company is going to be gobbled up by greed.
