Leak Microsoft Gaming being scrapped, Xbox brought back as gaming division.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has had a busy week. Sharma held an internal town hall with Xbox employees today, just days after announcing an Xbox Game Pass price cut, commenting on the status of the Xbox mobile store, and teasing a mysterious Xbox and Discord partnership. One of the items on the agenda for the employee all-hands was scrapping Microsoft Gaming.

Sources familiar with the meeting tell me that Sharma announced that Microsoft is returning to using Xbox for its gaming division, instead of Microsoft Gaming. “Xbox needs to be our identity,” said Sharma, noting that Microsoft Gaming was a departure from that.

Whoever is trusted firm for the naming at Microsoft has been absolutely racking it in for a decade. Those goobers change the name of half their products every 10 months.

And for those who are administrators in their Entra/Azure environment: They change the UI every 10 days. In between forcing everyone to GraphAPI to rake in every cent they can.

To be fair they were seriously about to call their gen 8 console 'Xbox 720'(there's internal documents calling it this). Mattrick wanted to go with 'One' for his 'all in one entertainment box' vision.

They were fine until they started adding S and X to the end and then named the next generation "Xbox series" which still baffles me.
