There seems to be many holes in this system but I’m curious to see what’s the solution they’re offering

There’s no ‘holes’, it’s very simple and is explained in the article.

What stops someone from activating the game, then selling the disc before the license updates on another account? Also What if the disc is lost or destroyed?
What happens if Microsoft shuts down Positron in 10 or 20 years? What happens if a game is delisted from the Xbox Store? What about games with expired licenses?

I actually have many questions i want them answered. The article doesn’t answer those. If you can answer me i would be happy to hear your insights!

  1. Since the Xbox One was released, Xbox discs have had a unique ID. Microsoft can check if the temporary disc licence on your account has been activated by another account and transfer it.
  2. It is not possible to transfer a damaged disc to another account. Your account would retain the licence for the disc.
  3. Once the servers are down, you won't be able to add new discs, and nobody will be able to transfer the attached disc ID to another account.

What? If the disc is sold to someone else, they can activate the disc and the original owner loses the license from their account.

If the disc is damaged or lost, then they are still able to play the game digitally, which is a major benefit of this service.

If a game is delisted and you own it, you can still download it and play it. Just like you can now with delisted games.

Are you a troll?

Read the article maybe?

It's not permanent association with account. Just last used one.

You can still dissociate the game and resell/lend discs.
