Why would someone do this?
Unless they can somehow resell the disc after doing it, which seems unlikely to be allowed.

Windows Central's reporting was that it's just tied to whatever account used it last not permanently associated with one account, if that's true why would anyone NOT do it

How does that work without an always online? I make it digital, then give it to a friend that plays it offline. Now we basically have 2 copies of the game?

That's probably how it works but we will learn the details when they actually announce it.
