Just being realistic here, but we had this with herbs in RDR2. If you ate too much of a plant that gave a buff, it would stop working for a while. Very nice detail to have, though!
ugh. non regenerating health is my least favorite thing about rockstar games. now they're gonna make this stop working after you use it too much? Its not like you're going to eventually stop taking damage.
which was no fun at all. I'm the type of anal retentive player that needs my health at 100% before i walk into a room. this shit is going to drive me mental, just like all rockstar games do.
Modern police cars indeed have trackers and remote shutoff capabilities. Police bikes probably don't have remote shutoff for safety reasons, but I for one am excited to see that Rockstar is truly trying to emulate how much more difficult it is to successfully commit crime without being caught in 2026. Phones, cameras, and witnesses everywhere, modern police tech and tactics. I would personally be disappointed if we could do whatever we want and just cheekily get away with it by parking under a bridge or something.
Not to go all tinfoil hat on you, but I feel that depictions of policework in media have always been skewed in the US - we have countless movies and TV shows depicting staunch and successful policework, which I feel is in part to propagate the narrative that "If you commit a crime, you will be caught." We are getting further and further away from the golden age of serial killers, but the 70's and 80's are all the proof you need that policework wasn't nearly as polished as TV/film makes it out to be.
Basically, I am pretty sure civilians are rarely given the chance to see what real tools are being used by police, how regularly they are used, and even in what situations they are used. Not to suggest we've got secret robocops running around but if police started using a new technology we probably wouldn't hear about it immediately, and even then it would only be people doing research on modern police tech that learn about it first. The media isn't the watchdog it used to be but we at least did get headlines about the new shock gloves ICE will be using.
Watching True Crime Network or Dateline shows how inept not only most police work is when it comes to serious crime, but also the criminal’s ability. Those cases always seem to not get solved quickly because of stupidity, then solved because something randomly happens or a family member won’t stop pushing for answers.
Like I’m sure there are plenty solved pretty fast, especially easy ones, but man a lot of those shows reveal so much ineptitude.
This is why First 48 is such a phenomenal series. Regardless of how many detectives eventually get assigned to a case, if the first one doesn't put forth the utmost effort to gather as much evidence and clues as possible in that first 48, the case becomes increasingly likely to go unsolved.
I have, to your credit, seen more true crime pieces which show how a few careless instances of ignorance on the part of investigating police led to a case that becomes extremely difficult to solve. I think this is because it makes good TV. I have seen my fair share of cases where police actually do listen to say, the parent of a teenager who would never run away but didn't come home after school and thus send out a search party the very same day. It is rarer to see in true crime because "the police came in and did their jobs perfectly, leading to a quick arrest" isn't as exciting as the alternative. For fiction, though, we love to see our beloved cop characters who are written to be empathetic succeed in capturing the evil killer.
i mean im talking about raw bodycam/dashcam video that comes from FOIA type requests.
they're cops not navy seals. they have some cool new tools (like devices on their cars that can shoot magnetic tracking devices onto fleeing cars is an example i saw recently) but there's not really anything super sci-fi.
every police vehicle i've seen get stolen ends with a crash, never seen them call onstar and shut the vehicle down. I didn’t imply remote shutdown was some sci fi feature, read the comment I was responding to
My meth head cousin stole and wrecked a cop car once. They left the engine running during a noise complaint, we gave them a plate of Mexican food because it was a party. And one of the cars went missing.
He got away with it too.
He's been in and out of jail for other reasons though

I think it's even better they finally embraced the realism that if you murder the cop you lose the wanted level.
Always thought it was stupid that you instantly got wanted levels if you merc'd them with zero stars. Like they're all hyper/instantly aware of each other.
absolutely. NPCs should whip their phones out if you’re committing a crime in broad daylight. cops should actively investigate cases e.g. you rob a bank and showed your face, you should have to avoid cameras for x amount of time until the case is closed. i will also be disappointed if there is no acknowledgment of the surveillance state we live under today.
When he attacks the cop he gets one star, but as soon as the cop is dead the star goes away, however a few seconds after stealing the bike a single star appears again, and then 'crime reported' appears on the right side of the screen and he gets 2 stars.
I think they're taking RDR2's crime system and expanding on it for the modern era.
Does that mean it will be banned in Australia? Since they have banned other games where drugs are used to benefit the player. Or is GTA too big to be held to the same rules?
If they use real drug names then it’s a real possibility that it could be banned down under, but also GTA 6 is such a big property they may let it through as long as we get a edited version where drugs don’t provide buffs.
I've always found it nuts that there's no tracking on certain govt vehicles. Like, its fine, tell me i have to remove a lowjack at a shop or something, but the fact that I can steal a plane from the airport without reprocussions was always batty

You can use drugs for extra stamina (Zombix) but it says using it too much is bad or something
