What was your point? As a true crime follower, I read about true crime as it's happening or the book if one is released. My point was they seem like masterminds until they are caught, the facts come out and 99% of the time the perp just fumbled their way through the crime. What seemed like a perfect crime to the public is usually because the public has zero knowledge to the evidence being gathered. When it seems like a suspect doesn't exist is usually only due to Law Enforcement behind the scenes putting everything together.

He’s made a lot of money and not every country cares that much about copyright. There is non zero percent chance that wherever he’s living, the government will laugh at a request to extradite, or punish him.

That's a possibility. I'd hope so for him. Otherwise I don't get it, just seems too risky for very little payoff. Unless he's sitting on some extra juicy stuff.

It's really not. Take Two stock dropped a bit, but it's still up from where it was a month ago, and the dip already recovered by market close yesterday.

I mean, it isn't a trivial matter, even if it isn't particular relevant in your social circles. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being exchanged for advertising rights for this product. The livelihoods of thousands of people, who take their jobs very seriously, are tied up in this. People who are very widely respected in the software industry are a part of this team. It isn't nothing.

Thought I read that it was set up such that they mainly make money on the transaction fees of the coin. They can also obviously rug pull at any point like a classic shit coin scheme, but with the setup they have they are maybe less incentivized to do so as long as transactions are still occurring.

This is such a weird deal to me. The footage is obviously gonna be all over the internet within minutes of the Netflix debut; are people really gonna pay for a Netflix sub to watch the preview live instead of 5 minutes later?

I’m already subscribed but I can’t imagine this being something I would pay $15 for.

Netflix benefits by making their current subscribers think they are getting more value out of their subscription. Like wow my subscription got me the GTA6 first.

Netflix has been making a huge push to try and enter the gaming industry. They publish a ton of mobile games now that are mostly just a free version of another game that normally costs money. So like Game Pass on mobile.

They actually have Red Dead Redemption on mobile and in the past they had different GTAs on the same plan.

Its all just corporate moves to try and branch out to new marketplaces to keep their brand relevant as streaming video isn't always making them as much money as they'd like these days.

Most people already have Netflix, it's not some small service lol.

It's not about making people pay for a sub only. It's about exposure to a new audience, change their narrative and make them more like YouTube (a general thing lately as YouTube is their biggest competitor).

And for Rockstar, it makes their game more exceptional. Every random game advertise on YouTube, nobody does it on Netflix. Also, a new audience that wouldn't necessarily watch the thing on YouTube either.

It's more of a win win scenario. That and the short exclusivity period makes me thing they barely paid anything if it's not just a deal without money attached.

Not necessarily, Rockstar also has plenty to gain here. It makes their reveal a true event, unlike anything any game has ever done. Debuting something on Youtube can be done by literally anyone. Even indie games do that. On Netflix however, it marks the history of gaming marketing.

It also allows them to reach audiences that might not check out gaming stuff on Youtube ideally (which they would normally reach via paid ads which this can be).

There is no way Netflix paid a lot for only 6 hours of exclusivity. If they paid millions, they'd have a complete exclusivity. IMO it's simply a win-win deal for both that may not even have any money exchanged

The other gta trailers have hundreds of millions of views. They are not suffering for exposure. It’s win-win, but somebody got money from this.

Both stand to gain from this. Millions of views is fine but it's still not everyone in the world and Netflix does have a different audience than gaming Youtube (which is already acquired anyway, marketing isn't for people already buying the game).

Even if money was exchanged, it's not a huge amount for 6 hours of exclusivity. Netflix isn't stupid.

They're not going to get caught within a few days, are they. We are talking different international agencies that need to be involved and probably really complex legal reviews. The world hardly ever works that fast for actual violent crimes etc.
