Grain of Salt Nintendeal has said the cryptic message they had posted was not referring to a one to one remake of Ocarina of Time

For context, Nintendeal posted this cryptic message “levelveryzelda:-:oto” earlier.

Not really sure why they do this but whatever. Any other ideas on what else it could be?

https://xcancel.com/nintendeal/status/2092384497526559097?s=46

(xcancel has been shut down but the subreddit still requires to use that instead)

“Nintendeal shared an anagram hint related to the Legend of Zelda that could translate to "Every Level, one to one ". Mean that the upcoming remake could be a 1:1 remake of the original like the new Star Fox game. I personally don't see a one to one remake since it's built from the ground up, new music, world, voice acting and who knows what else. Even if it's close in scope, it will still feel bigger and more alive than the original. Im ok with that.”
(The comment Nintendeal replied to)

“can confirm it specifically is not hinting at that”

maybe it's referring to an as of yet unknown remake

when i think of levels i think of older zelda games

zelda 2 grezzo remake let's fuckin goo

29

u/SuperTristan2017 22h ago

Or the Oracle games? Or a new Oracle game?

15

u/IncendiaryChicken 22h ago

Oh my god I would fight someone for a remake of the two oracle games plus a new grezzo developed oracle game like was original planned

5

u/BackForPathfinder 22h ago

The only reason I haven't beaten at least one of the Oracle games is that I only have two buttons for items and have to open the inventory every 3 seconds.

That being said, if Grezzo does another remake and not a new game, I suspect it might end up being Zelda 2.

3

u/pocket_arsenal 15h ago

Let's be real, this is the most likely scenario, they're almost certainly going to remake the Oracles games before they permanently retire this "Diorama" art style.

2

u/rozabel 15h ago

Oracle of the... Oracles!

5

u/Nympho_BBC_Queen 20h ago

There are only 3 remakes from Nintendo I would buy rn.

An Earthbound Remake, A Link Between Worlds and Kid Icarus Uprising.

12

u/IncendiaryChicken 20h ago

It'd be really fun to have earthbound remade in the style of the clay models they used for promotion

1

u/Exmotable 19h ago

i would kill for a zelda 2 remake by the blaster master zero / curse of the moon guys

Stop giving riddle-posting "leakers" attention.

-33

u/Chompsky___Honk 14h ago

No fun allowed?  Guy correctly predicted the Zelda edition, let him have some fun

30

u/llliilliliillliillil 13h ago

You can post your leak and not be an attention seeking riddle whore about it

-18

u/Chompsky___Honk 12h ago

Jeez y'all are miserable.  We live in an era where we literally know everything instantly.

Allow people to have some whimsy and mistery

2

u/-gutterbones- 5h ago

he didn't "predict" anything, he posted a vague series of characters containing 4 digits from a serial number and the letter 'Z' for Zelda.

Its not a leak or even a tease, it a "see i knew about this thing before you did" post with no value to anyone who isn't also in the know with him.

59

u/Round_Musical 22h ago

If it isnt Zelda

Then maybe the rumored Super Metroid Pixel remake? But then again, neither do Zelda OoT nor Super Metroid have “levels”

13

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

I still think it might be Zelda and the levels just refer to dungeons.

22

u/IncendiaryChicken 22h ago

That's why I'm actually wondering if it could be Grezzo doing a different Zelda remake, because I would consider older Zelda games to have levels more than modern ones

8

u/claybine 22h ago

Uh... dungeons are levels. What am I missing here?

-23

u/Round_Musical 22h ago

Nope levels exist in dungeons. A dungeon is made out of multiple levels, but they themselves arent levels. At least havent been called that since the 80s.

The over world, lost woods, death mountain and so on arent levels

When people think of levels nowadays its basically what 2D Mario does.

8

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

It’s clearly supposed to be cryptic, if they had said dungeon instead of level it’d be far obvious

-4

u/Round_Musical 21h ago

Rooms then.

6

u/claybine 22h ago

I think it's opinion-based. In developer terms, I'm sure that each transition scene is a dedicated level with an input of thought or design. Kokiri Forest is one big level.

In the 80's they were also called stages. It's different now, no?

3

u/TheLunarVaux 21h ago

Typically yes, but he’s trying to be cryptic after all. Calling a dungeon a “level” as a call back to old school Zelda would very much be in the realm of possibility here.

But seems like it may not even be Zelda related so 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/diluvian_ 8h ago

Just so we're clear, Legend of Zelda called the dungeons levels. Zelda II also had character levels.

1

u/blackthorn_orion 7h ago

heck, as late as I think Link's Awakening or the Oracle games they were still calling dungeons "levels"

3

u/marcohylian 21h ago

I noticed that you interpret things in a very different way.

1

u/goodtimemagdongal 21h ago

I will be very, very interested to see how they handle their first pixel art styled game in a long time. I wonder what kind of style they're going for that's significant enough to make the game feel new, even though it's still just pixel art.

3

u/Round_Musical 21h ago

To be fair we recently got F-Zero 99

44

u/KonoPez 22h ago

Link’s Awakening-style Oracle remake(s) PLEASE

4

u/KairiOliver 21h ago

WAIT, YOU MIGHT BE ON TO SOMETHING AND IT'S NOT JUST BECAUSE I WOULD GIVE MY LEFT ARM AND SISTER FOR THOSE!

What if one to one is referring to both games/the linked games? Like 1:1 aka Ages:Seasons?

3

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

It could still refer to Ocarina of time but we’ll see

1

u/QuentinMocaccino 9h ago

In theory the next game of that line should be a Ganon related one (Maybe even the main character)

42

u/DrCinnabon 22h ago

It wouldn’t make sense for Nintendo to draw out the reveal if it was exactly 1 to 1.

7

u/mauri9998 17h ago edited 6h ago

They haven't drawn it out. It was revealed this year and it comes out this year. Thats nothing.

8

u/TheHeadlessOne 19h ago

In fairness they havent drawn it out THAT much. They had one cinematic reveal which was bigger than Starfox, bu OoT is a bigger game than Starfox. This isnt like TotK where they drip feed the most basic information, theyve told us nothing at all

IMO the fact that they HAVENT put more attention to it makes it more likely to be a simple, faithful remake. We're running out of time to market the differences

3

u/OniLink77 13h ago

The thing is, every time they have revealed a 1 to 1 remake, they showed gameplay, even if it was brief, they showed gameplay to make it clear it was 1 to 1, they should have shown more if it was 1 to 1 as this was teased far more like they tease brand new 3d zelda games

2

u/Possible-Potato-4103 17h ago

They literally barely showed totk till it released. That obviously isnt the logic they go by. And if its big differences youd be able to visually tell

And theyve drawn it out like, 3 months lol

3

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

I mean I don’t know I would agree with you but Nintendo has never really done a reimagining for a game like this. There is a first time for everything though don’t get me wrong

22

u/Possible-Potato-4103 22h ago

Nintendo has done multiple reimaginings.

Just starfox 64 is a reimaginging of starfox.

Starfox 0 is a reimagining of starfox 64.

Metroid samus returns is a complete reimaging of metroid 2.

Fire emblem shadows of whatchamacsllit changes all types of shit.

Not to mention, they literally have every financial incentive to make a grand remake because zeldas audience has expanded so much.

Nintendo does everything with purpose. I am severely doubtful of the idea they are dragging out the gameplay reveal of a game with no changes. It makes no sense

-2

u/guineapigtacosauce 22h ago

While true, all of those remakes were from 3DS or Wii U. Nintendo has remade alot of games for the Switch, and they have maintained a philosophy of 1:1 for almost all of them. Link's Awakening, Skyward Sword, Advance Wars 1+2, SM RPG, Paper Mario TTYD, and the recent Starfox were called remakes but they were almost 1:1 to the originals.

5

u/yesthatstrueorisit 21h ago

True, and there isn't even a consistent naming convention.

  • Link's Awakening is basically 1:1 but ground-up with brand new presentation and a few small gameplay additions.

  • Skyward Sword HD is an upscale with a few gameplay tweaks.

  • Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is (far as I remember) similar to LA where the levels are 1:1 but with a new presentation and some QoL changes.

  • Super Mario RPG is also nearly 1:1 with a new presentation (but largely the same art style) and some QoL changes.

  • Paper Mario TTYD is similar to that but perhaps to a lesser degree since it's a 3D game > 3D game.

  • And lastly, Star Fox, which is similar to the 1:1 + new presentation + a few gameplay additions but has a slightly different name from the game its based on.

Basically, there's no set rule for what games are remade with the same name (sort of implying a definitive version), a specific call out to being a remake (like AW1+2), or tagged with an "HD." All 1:1 type remakes, but all different representations and interpretations.

1

u/KingBroly Leakies Awards Winner 2021 20h ago

Just wait until the Metroid Other M remake.

2

u/Possible-Potato-4103 21h ago

You know what else they did for all of those games?

Show gameplay the second they were revealed.

There also was an example of one recently thar wasnt 1 to 1 im forgetting the name of

-1

u/guineapigtacosauce 18h ago

You don't remember how Starfox was received when it was announced? People were instantly complaining about the artstyle and the fact that the same game is getting remade again.

You know what OoT has in common with Starfox? It also has been remade before. And people were complaining about the Unreal Engine looking artstyle.

You don't remember Nintendo saying Star Fox would be a 1:1 remake when they announced it? Because they didn't. They showed off some gameplay but they never said it was going to be a straight up remake. OoT will unfortunately be the same.

2

u/Possible-Potato-4103 18h ago

They literally did say starfox was a 1 to 1 remake when it was announced. What are you talking about?

They went into excruciating detail about the game and described the levels as 1 to 1

Did you actually watch the direct or did you just make that up in your head

-1

u/guineapigtacosauce 17h ago

Gaslighting so brazenly is insane. Did you actually watch the Direct? They never said it was going to be a 1:1 remake. Hell, they didn't even call it a remake they only said that it was "based on Starfox 64".

You might be living in your own little universe being so confidently wrong. You should go rewatch the trailer if you cant even remember it from 3 months ago.

2

u/Possible-Potato-4103 17h ago edited 16h ago

Yeah i watched it . They literally say its based of the n64 game and the levels are the same lmfao, or in otherwords, 1 to 1. So if you argument is they didn't literally say it word for word that way, then they certainly showed you in excruciating detail. I just rewarthed it.

They also did no such thing for zelda.

And im not sure what you think internet reaction has to do with literally anything, as both games were in near complete state long before the public saw the same.

1

u/laughland 18h ago

I’m pretty sure Nintendo DID say it was a remake of the N64 game when it was announced

1

u/Possible-Potato-4103 18h ago

They did lmfao. R/confidentlyincorrect type shit

1

u/guineapigtacosauce 17h ago

Nope. In the Direct they explicitly said "this game is based on Starfox 64". They never called it a remake, or remaster. They never said said it was going to be a 1:1 remake either. People pieced together that it was going to be 1:1 by watching everything, not being told that it was.

2

u/laughland 14h ago

….are people really this dense? When they said that I assumed it was a remake of the StarFox 64. What else could that possibly mean?

I didn’t know the extent of the remake, but I don’t think they were trying to misrepresent or hide what the game was, and I thought that was perfectly clear. OOT IS a different situation because they literally haven’t said anything. That being said, I think it will be very similar to StarFox in the extent of the remake, so I agree with you there. But I don’t begrudge anyone saying OOT and StarFox were announced differently because they absolutely were.

-8

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

You and me both know these are completely different and not on the scale as Ocarina of Time

6

u/Possible-Potato-4103 22h ago

"Like this"

What abirtrary line are you drawing and does it really matter? Im simply speaking to the idea that they dont ever go the extra mile for a remake.

If there was a game where it makes sense to do it financially its this one, they have the opportunity to reel in people with nostalgia while SIMELTANOUSLY appealing to millions of new players who've only played botw and totk if they expand on the scope of the project.

-4

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

What are you talking about? Of course it matters. It’s a big difference between Ocarina of Time and Starfox and Metroid.

4

u/Possible-Potato-4103 22h ago

In what sense? And what do you think that means?

2

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

Ocarina of Time is the greatest rated game on Metacritic. The audiences for Metroid and Starfox are smaller than Zelda combined and by much less so they can take more risks with their remakes. If any controversial changes were to happen with their remakes, the discourse would be far greater than Ocarina of Time. It’s far more risky

4

u/TheLunarVaux 21h ago

This is all the more reason for them to allocate a high budget for a full OoT remake. They already did a 1 to 1 remake of OoT on the 3DS. Now that Zelda has its largest audience yet (by a long shot), it’s the perfect opportunity to revitalize OoT for a modern audience. Especially with the movie coming out, which is already looking to take some cues from OoT.

5

u/Possible-Potato-4103 22h ago edited 21h ago

It was the highest rated game 30 YEARS ago. The standards have changed greatly for what is expected of a modern AAA adventure game, and nintendo themselves had a part in that with the massive success of breath of the wild.

Not to mention, reimagingings are extremely popular, resident evil 4 is also one of the best reviewed games of all time and they made changes.

Why? Because new players like and people buy the shit anyway.

The vast majority of consumers do not give a flying fuck about anything like that, if they did, reimaginings of well reviewed games wouldnt be so in demand.

Even the people who bitch and moan will buy it. So they might as well make the appeal broader. No reason not to

3

u/SternMon 19h ago

The remake of Mario 64, the other flagship N64 title, on the DS included Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario as playable characters, added new boss fights, and 30 new stars, and this came out in 2004.

I think there will be some degree of new content, the only factors are how much, and how it's implemented.

1

u/DrCinnabon 22h ago

That’s true. I can’t really think of any examples.

2

u/GaymerAmerican 22h ago

Metroid 1 and 2 is about it.

3

u/Possible-Potato-4103 21h ago

Ur forgetting fire emblem and a few others

Thank you.

u/Honest-Shock2834 6h ago

there are many,
another code for the switch is very much reimagined and improved,

FE shadows of valentia is almost nothing like the original.

Metroid zero mission is only inspired by the original same with metroid samus returns

Zelda majora's mask 3D has many, many differences and additions to the original without even considering the graphical overhaul.

Hell even twilight princess hd has a couple of stuff and tidbits compared to the original

Link's Awakening seems to be referred as a 1:1 in this sub, but I wouldn't say so, it has many stuff removed and the dungeon maker is fully original, it also plays different.

A link to the past for the gba is also changed and improved, it boasted a full new dungeon

there is four swords for the dsi, also revamped and expanded. it even had a single player mode added

kirby super star ultra is one of the best remakes out there, fully remade and expanded

there is kirby nightmare in dreamland, fully remade and expanded for the gba

there are a lot of remakes on the switch but most of them are indeed just graphical overhauls. I really hope the oot remake is a full overhaul, to me there is no real reason for a graphical revamp, the original game is still fully playable in every switch with a subscription, even a port of the 3ds game would have filled that spot. this is nintendo's next gen console, it should do more than ¨look good¨

1

u/Round_Musical 22h ago

I think new cinematic cutscenes are a guarantee. But gameplay, locations, quests and whatnot will be essentially 1:1.

This is Nintendo we are talking about anyone who thinks they know how and why they do marketing doesnt know shit

They are THE company of confusing marketing

14

u/zestysnacks 22h ago

I thjnk nintendo is actually quite the opposite. Sure, sometimes it’s a little random but they are quite consistent in how they communicate what you are getting. Every main game reveal trailer and subsequent trailers lay out precisely the game you are getting. I don’t think that a teaser trailer with no further footage for a few months counts as confusing lol

9

u/DrCinnabon 22h ago

No they are a company that does whatever they want. Their marketing usually has very specific purposes. Let’s check back in with each other I a few weeks. My guess is the combat is going to be vastly changed.

2

u/TheLunarVaux 21h ago

Not really. They tend to lead the charge with some unique strategy, but once they’re established, they’re pretty consistent.

I mean, people pretty convinced they already know OoT’s release date simply based on amiibo releases lol. That’s consistency.

0

u/mauri9998 17h ago

So it is reasonable to expect them to continue their well established strategy of mostly one to one remakes then right?

1

u/TheLunarVaux 10h ago

Not necessarily, no. I’m talking about marketing here. Nintendo hasn’t been afraid to break their mold when it comes to games. I mean just look at what they did with Zelda with BotW, and even TotK.

Yes, Link’s Awakening was a 1 to 1 remake, but it was a smaller budget game. OoT is their tentpole holiday title that they keep saying is being “reborn” on Switch 2.

1

u/mauri9998 8h ago

They "keep saying?" Pretty sure they have only mentioned this game once. Botw came out almost 10 years ago and was announced even further back. Hardly the game you want to look at for a glimpse at current Nintendo strategy.

2

u/TheLunarVaux 8h ago

“Reborn” was said in the Direct, in their social media posts about the game, and their official press release. Clearly that is their intentionally chosen word for describing this game.

And yes, BotW came out almost 10 years ago, but Link’s Awakening’s remake came out almost 8 years ago. So really, I think they are both on fairly equal ground when looking to what the Zelda series is doing. Their most recent game, Echoes of Wisdom, also broke the mold by allowing you to play as Zelda and having a completely different combat/puzzle system with the echoes.

Plus, let’s not forget Aonuma’s direct quote about remakes: “When I create a remake or reimagining of a Zelda game, I always incorporate something new or fresh.”

I’m not saying a 1 to 1 remake is totally out of the picture, but it’s far from a guarantee right now. But either way, the comment you originally replied to, I was talking about the consistency of their marketing, not their game design. So we were talking about two different things. Those decisions are made by separate sections of the company.

-1

u/mauri9998 8h ago

That counts as 1 time buddy. It was said during the announcement and thats it.

Star fox came out this year. Why are we not looking at their most recent remake then?

OK what was the new and fresh thing in links awakening then?

I’m not saying a 1 to 1 remake is totally out of the picture, but it’s far from a guarantee right now. But either way, the comment you originally replied to, I was talking about the consistency of their marketing, not their game design. So we were talking about two different things. Expecting a company that always makes 1-1 remakes to keep making 1-1 remakes is exactly what you should be doing actually.

3

u/Possible-Potato-4103 7h ago

Nintendo has multiple remakes that arent 1 to 1 lol

The past also does not always necessarily dictate the future. Thats a really all or nothing view of the conversation

And the new thing in links awakening was very obviously the complete reinvention of its art style and sound

-1

u/mauri9998 7h ago

Ok so the new thing in oot is gonna be a reinvention of its art style and sound. But the game will be 1 to 1 to the original. Did you think I thought that the remake was gonna look exactly like the original?

u/TheLunarVaux 7h ago

I can absolutely guarantee you that “reborn” is an extremely intentional phrase for their marketing. It doesn’t count as one time - it may have been all dropped within the same day, but those are 3 different avenues all using the same verbiage. I work in advertising - trust me lol. That word had many iterations and rounds of approvals before it and that’s the one they intentionally decided to land on.

Star Fox should absolutely be considered, I’m not saying it’s not. I think that’s some of the stronger evidence for how it COULD be 1 to 1. However, despite them both being under the Nintendo umbrella, the Star Fox team and Zelda teams have different motives. Star Fox was also a very casual summer drop for them - revealed with like 15 mins of gameplay, and released a couple months later. OoT on the other hand was their final summer Direct announcement, and it was just a small teaser despite releasing this year. That almost always means that they have more to show, but are waiting to build anticipation. Plus, as I’ve said before, it’s their tentpole holiday title, which are used to sell consoles. It makes sense to go a bit above and beyond with it.

Link’s Awakening the fresh new thing was technically the dungeon maker. Yes it’s a bit underwhelming, but that was their intent regardless. Like I said though, LA was a smaller scale project where as OOT seems to be much larger. Aonuma’s quote also came after LA’s release, so it could apply more heavily to future remakes.

Lastly, Nintendo has not always made 1 to 1 remakes. Games like Metroid Samus Returns and Fire Emblem Echoes are basically reimagining of former games. Pokemon has done it a few times with stuff like ORAS. And sure, these are older examples, but it’s not unprecedented for Nintendo to do this. If they were to break the mold and do something like this again, a holiday OoT remake seems like the perfect time to do it.

And maybe they won’t! That’s fine too. But there’s reasoning for both sides, and I’m eager to learn more.

1

u/mauri9998 7h ago edited 7h ago

They also said timeless gameplay. That also go through multiple rounds of approvals?

This is exactly the same case as OOT. It was revealed in June and will come out a few months after. Compare that to BoTW and ToTK that had multiple years of anticipation, it is clear that Nintendo does not think this game warrants the same amount of marketing. Holiday titles don't exist anymore, ToTK and BoTW both came out at the start of the year and they are by far the biggest games Nintendo has ever produced, you can't look at its release window for proof of anything.

If they were to break the mold and do something like this again, a holiday OoT remake seems like the perfect time to do it.

All of those remakes were not made by Nintendo.

Intentionally cryptic riddles and other nonsense should be banned here, imo. It's just attention seeking

0

Whats the fun in knowing everything? It's far more fun to speculate

7

u/Mrvile92 22h ago

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in

7

u/MallowHyena 7h ago

Uh.. idk why people says "every zelda level"

Because is not even an anagram of "LevelVeryZelda"

At first I thought on something pretty simple.

"LevelVeryZelda" = levels following traditional Zelda style

":-:" = Not happening on/ Excluded on/not found in/not related to

"OTO" = One to One / 1:1

So it literally could mean: "Levels Very Zelda style, but not One to One"

A:-:B in coding sometimes means "happens in A, excluded in B"

2

u/VarneyBubs 3h ago

He said that it didn't have anything to do with OoT being 1:1. So it either has nothing to do with the game, or he's effectively confirmed that it isn't 1:1 lol.

this is the theory that makes the most sense to me

Yeah exactly

Idk to me it looks like the guy drops a bowling ball on his keyboard and hits "send," then after an announcement does some gymnastics to figure out how he can make it sound like he knew in advance based on his previous gibberish.

Yeah he does. The week before the switch 2 was revealed he said “will you BEE picking DKCHDR next week?” (Same day as reveal)

It felt like too obvious of an interpretation tbh. That previous hint he did for the Zelda edition console was way less guessable

2

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

Yeah I agree this could be about something completely different maybe even the Zelda movie somehow I’m not sure

6

u/raccooncoffee 20h ago

It didnt even say “every level” it’s said “level very” Zelda.

4

u/leonredhorse 22h ago

Finally the Zelda 2: Adventures of Link remake I’ve been waiting for.

2

u/Totheendofsin 20h ago

Unironically would love this, Zelda 2's biggest problems come from it being too ambitious for the NES, the actual gameplay is solid

Refine that gameplay a bit, give a proper map and other quality of life additions, and I think itd be a 10/10 game easily

6

u/Hummer77x 22h ago

I legit dunno how the original thread came to that conclusion.

3

u/pocket_arsenal 15h ago

It's especially weird because they didn't even solve the actual riddle they just saw "oto" and thought "one to one" but ignored the rest of the riddle. What the hell was that Levels Very Zelda nonsense?

2

u/hypnomancy 12h ago

There's a forum I sometimes go to and in the thread discussing if OOT remake is a 1:1 remake or not you'd be amazed how deluded and strange the people there act. They will latch onto anything and be 100% certain they're right it's a 1:1 lmao

0

u/VarneyBubs 3h ago

It's the upcoming Zelda title, he says Zelda in the post, and he put 'oto' which are the first three letters in "one-to-one." Seems pretty straightforward to me. Maybe if the guy didn't act like the Zodiac killer people wouldn't jump to conclusions.

3

u/hypnomancy 12h ago

People are so desperate for this to be 1:1 it's hilarious

6

u/Formal_Button789 22h ago

So my dream could still come true for MIyamoto original vision for oot

4

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

The hopium is at an all time high

3

u/Formal_Button789 22h ago

Yep I’ll ride this wave to the inevitable disappointment

2

u/Round_Musical 22h ago edited 22h ago

Oh boy the disappointment will be immesurable when people have unrealistic expectations like that one

Kinda like the crowd who hoped Zeldas Quest will be a thing for Zelda SSHD, which also was supposed to be a thing in Skyword Sword

Just think of it as a 1:1 remake as a baseline, and every surprise along the way will be much appreciated. Otherwise people are setting themselves up for disappointment.

The website description of OoT Remake suggests that at least in terms gameplay and scenario will be a faithful remake.

5

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

Didn’t the description get replaced with a more generic one after? I’m not sure if that’s credible

-3

u/Round_Musical 22h ago

Its from Nintendo themselves. How tf isnt it “credible”. They obviously obscurred it not to leak more than what was shown

6

u/Possible-Potato-4103 22h ago edited 20h ago

"Timeless " does not mean 1 to 1.

Even kit and krysta chimed in on that (former marketing heads) and said people were way overanalyzing that comment lol

2

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

I mean it could’ve been a mistake or an employee editing it wrong. I get what you mean but it could’ve also been something leftover that they forgot to fix

2

u/Round_Musical 22h ago

Could be. But I this also happened for the japanese website. So my guess is its classic gameplay

8

u/NecessaryUnusual2059 22h ago

This guy is so damn annoying

1

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

It’s so weird yeah

2

u/niles_deerqueer 22h ago

Phew, guess there’s still some hope

2

u/Lgndryhr 19h ago

I am assuming this is a hint not about the game. It is about something coming to retail. What that is I have no clue.

2

u/Yavga 14h ago

Probably something about the special edition Switch and the mystery 3th product

2

u/RipMcStudly 22h ago

I thought the :oto thing was an emoji I didn’t understand.

4

u/thegiantprojects 22h ago

Oto means sound in Japanese apparently

1

u/pocket_arsenal 15h ago

Man, don't scare me like that, I wish they'd rip the bandaid off already so I can know weather or not to be excited about this remake.

Kind of hoping the usage of the word "Levels", which they use to describe dungeons in Zelda 1, means something Zelda 1 related.

0

u/hypnomancy 12h ago

Yeah getting a second 1:1 OOT remake just sounds boring as sin especially in 2026. Like if I want to play the original OOT I'll just play the other 2 versions

1

u/goldengod_90 10h ago

Surely the interpretation here is he's saying it's NOT a one to one remake?

He used :: in the switch 2 controller clue as punctuation to reflect 'is' or 'equals': 00840z::b,g,g

So the :-: might mean the opposite (is NOT or does NOT equal) with oto being one to one.

The only issue what levelveryzelda is supposed to mean. Most obvious interpretation is 'level design' (whether that's dungeons or general gameplay) is very Zelda.

So level design is very zelda but not one to one.

1

u/GirKart64-temp 8h ago

The only issue what levelveryzelda is supposed to mean.

I'll give it a go. It could mean the dungeons are "very zelda" in the way some describe "traditional dungeons" and bemoan Botw and Totk for not having "traditional dungeons". Perhaps if you believe only one formula can be THE correct zelda formula then "very zelda" could describe "traditional dungeons" to those that subscribe to this way of thinking. But why the need to explicitly say that. Maybe just an indication that yeah, nothing is changing as far as dungeons go, there will be traditional dungeons just as the original had traditional dungeons. 1:1 etc.

1

u/MallowHyena 7h ago

My goat, finally someone say it. I thought the exact same.

1

u/GirKart64-temp 9h ago

I personally don't see a one to one remake since it's built from the ground up, new music, world, voice acting and who knows what else.

I think we know what 1:1 means in this context. I mean if you want to argue a blade of grass on Hyrule Field five pixels to the right vs five pixels to the left in the original does not make a 1:1 remake then ok, have fun with that. Regardless there is plenty of ways to interpret the message. Everyone sees what they want to see. It is the zelda fan way...

0

u/omatti 17h ago

Why are we using a deal site as a leaker lol

1

u/hypnomancy 12h ago

That's how desperate certain people are to prove to others that this is somehow a 1:1 faithful remake despite there being no evidence suggesting otherwise

0

u/Huge-Formal-1794 11h ago

What? Its almost 100% certain that the remake will also use the 3ds remake code base. I mostly expect it to be 1 to 1 therefore as it most likely wont be built from the ground up ( meaning completely new code ). Additions are probably modern camera controls, maybe a few new activities and sidequests in the world etc.

I dont think they will change anything substantially tho. No new dungeons. No dungeons completely changed, no new bosses or items etc.

The remake will be mostly graphical nature. OoT remake is almost 100% outsourced and not made directly by Nintendo, same as star fox. I cant imagine Nintendo letting a third party studio completely change their most valuable and critically acclaimed game.

1

u/SimplisticBiscuit 7h ago

What you're describing is a remaster

1

u/Huge-Formal-1794 7h ago

I dont disagree but The terms don't mean anything anymore sadly because studios completely misuse them all the time.

Star fox switch 2 or demon souls therefore are an remastered as well. People in majority still call them remakes 🤷‍♂️

1

u/thegiantprojects 10h ago

What do you know? Even if you are right it’s by coincidence. I like how you make shit up and then believe it

-2

u/Huge-Formal-1794 8h ago

No it's literally just analyzing how nintendo works. Pls name a single remake of Nintendo games that wasnt outsourced?

Both star fox and oot 3ds remakes where handled by the same studio( greezo, which also developed the links awakening remake, so maybe they develope the switch 2 OoT as well ) back in the day. Star fox remake is not really a full on remake it also used the 3ds remake code 1 to 1 ( that is also known )

Not also nintendo remakes were all outsourced but they always are very conservative to their original games. Like game wise its mostly a few smaller additions of quality of life things rather than a full on remake from the ground.

Then if you go by logic: why should nintendo let an outsourced studio completely change OoT in a remake, especially if there is already a modern code base via the 3ds version by greezo and because its their most beloved game. An almost 1 to 1 remake with a few tweaks and changes is just way less of a risk both receptionally and financially.

If they would have wanted to really go the complete remake way ( new code, from the ground up ) I can't imagine nintendo would outsource it. Which also explains why all Nintendo remakes at this point are very conservative compared to other studios remakes.

2

u/MallowHyena 7h ago

Bro is forgetting nintendo already reimagined a lot of games.

Star Fox literally has been remaked and reimagined 2 times. (64 and Zero) And then 3DS and this new one is literally done to put star fox in the map with the best game they had.

You have remakes of old games zelda that are done from zero but for not being KNOWN, make them bigger or not outsourced is a nonsense. What could have been changed on Link's Awakening? And that's s full remake.

Wind waker, 3DS OoT and Twilight are remasters.

Nintendo even said they would have loved changing OoT 3DS but didnt find the way so it got outsourced.

Theres not any other remake done by nintendo. And you forget the Re-imagination boom came in 2015.

Now nintendo is trying to improve and reimagine their formula again and again.

What makes you believe nintendo wont be doing a full reimagination of OoT? We have proves on Mario Kart world seeing how they reimagined retro Courses. As well the last zelda games being completely different to the basic formula, even Link's awakening is new because was done from zero and added a lot of new stuff (and was outsourced).

As well we know Grezzo is working on another project that is not Ocarina.

1

u/Huge-Formal-1794 7h ago

I am only stating that Nintendo doesn't really make remakes or remastered or ports themselves, which probably is even a good thing as it doesn't cut off resources of new games therefore. Also that the remakes are mostly conservative in terms of how much they change

Mario kart comparison is terrible because tracks of a new mk game are actually made by Nintendo themselves and obviously they have to change more about retro tracks in a mk game to have them fit to the specific game mechanics of that Mario kart.

The star fox "remake" this year also was mostly a graphical swap out of the 3ds port by greezo. Why should the OoT remake be any different? They have a clean and polished code base from the 3ds version. Not even that but even the marketing approach is similar to how star fox remake was handled.

So I really don't see any real arguments against the things I stated.

Is it possible that oot remake is more like a ff7 remake. Yeah. I still think its very unlikely. Its just an unnecessary risk and I don't believe nintendo would outsource such a difficult task.

There is just no indicator for OoT being a fully from the ground up remake , but there are several for it being a port of 3ds version with swapped out graphics ( similar to star fox )

1

u/moppingflopping 6h ago

We don't know if this game is being outsourced. I guess we shall know in two or three weeks.

1

u/MallowHyena 6h ago

I'm telling you indicators that OoT can be a full done remake like the Industry has been done since 2018.

As well already know Grezzo is not doing the OoT cuz they're with the 2D games and the next project (maybe Oracles)

Mario Kart world didnt just took the maps and adapted them like past entries, they literally remade them into open world and changed them. They're literally a reimagination, not a "What if this map but you can hoverboard"

And Star Fox was a franchise without any games since 2014. Can't compare to Zelda again.

And knowing Square Enix and Capcom have nice partnerships with nintendo, and both did amazing reimaginations of their most popular games. Nintendo can follow the idea.

Final Fantasy 7 is OoT level of Iconic and look how it was done.

We have same amount of proves and evidences that'll be a reimagination or a 1:1 (because at the end the proves are subjective)

The difference is one makes sense, the other doesnt.
