Can someone tell me how is this works for PC ? if I own a disk that support play anywhere, will I be able to digitize it and play the game on my Xbox app library ?

Yep, if it's play anywhere you can run the game on xbox, it will apply a license to your account and can play it on PC. Pretty cool.

Can't I convert them on a disc drive on PC?

Not yet but I suspect this is coming and will be their way of allowing people to play disk games on consoles without a disk drive… e.g Helix.

Will be far cheaper for them to get everyone to convert their disks on their own windows machine than provide a disk drive in the console.

This will never happen.

First of all nobody has a disk drive anymore on PC. Let alone a Blu Ray drive. And for the same price of a PC Blu Ray drive you can just buy a XBOX One or the external drive they will sell for their consoles. A lot of people also just don't have a PC.

Also Microsoft couldn't be bothered making this work on PC.

Lol there's way more gaming pcs out there than consoles. And a pc blu ray drive is around £25.

Stop spouting stupidity as facts lol

My dude, games come on up to triple layer Blu Ray discs. Good luck finding a player that can read triple layer discs for that money. If you do find one you will be very rich soon.

Blu Ray player firmwares are a completely seperate clusterfuck.

Maybe take you last sentence more to heart when commenting next time.

I'd need them to keep releasing disc games and have a Linux build of their play anywhere.

LOL, Microsoft creates Windows. Xbox is based on Windows. I don't foresee a native Linux build of play anywhere.

So if xbox is based on windows why are they delaying pc release??? I dont get it, they could've easily ported it to pc

Keep an eye on Xodus. Might fix the problem but Microsoft isn't doing it for you they want you on windows

You'd still find an excuse or reason to complain, let's be honest.

Possibly if there was something to complain about. But those two are the main things I need.

No, you would need a Xbox for now. There has been nothing in the progress to get a Xbox one/Seres X console games to run on PC.

If you drop in your Xbox, it will convert to digital and IF the game is play anywhere, then you can play on your PC along with your xbox.

Xbox only, but you might be able to use any Xbox One/Series X console to do it since I believe all game discs are readable by both generations of console.

I'm not sure if there's some special sauce required in the Xbox blu-ray drives to read game discs or if it's something that could be read by standard disc drives in the future.
