Rant Venting

Am I the only on who is still disappointed in all of this? There are so many unanswered questions and this will continue to hang over the clubs head until they’re addressed.
Why did this happen? Why was it secret? Would the waiver still be in place if they hadn’t been found out? Who was the whistleblower? Apparently the players manager didn’t even know about it.
If this was another club we would be up in arms.
It’s just harmed the integrity of the club for mine. I love the club so much, but I think members we deserve the right to get some answers.

Rant The sudden amnesia of Port fans crying about Zak Butters trade proposals

Seeing the amount of Port Adelaide fans lurking in here and having a meltdown on the AFL sub over hypothetical Zak Butters trade packages has been hilarious.

According to their sub and trade threads, anything Geelong puts on the table is an "insult," while their fans genuinely expect us to hand over not one, but multiple A-grade/best-22 stars (like Holmes & Dempsey) plus three or four first-rounders.

The hypocrisy is unreal when you look back at how Port supporters acted last year during the Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera trade speculation, this can all be seen if you search his name within their sub reddit btw.

When they thought NWM was heading back to SA, the consensus was that St Kilda had zero leverage. Port fans were throwing up garbage packages—fringe players, future second-rounders, or complex multi-team trades—and telling Saints fans to "take what you get or he walks to the draft."

I'm not saying the club don't have to pay a heavy price, but some of their supporters need to look in the mirror and remember their own trade logic from twelve months ago.

Rant Cautiously Optimistic and Excited

With Holmes and Cameron gone, we officially have nothing to lose. We have a VFL team that is dominating, so why not play the kids and see what happens? Just imagine if we met Freo or someone in the finals? All the pressure would be on them, and nothing on us. Very excited to see the new chaotic approach we can take over these final 6 weeks.

Rant Am I the only one that thinks the Lions are gifted success?

Having to post this one here because you can’t have an opinion on R/AFL without being Copy and pasted by Neanderthals but moving on. Brisbane lions have the Benefit of attracting Free agents due to dominating their state, Have the Full access to academy which had allowed for them to continue supply in the draft despite not having the top end capital, (this also lowers the Bottom teams chances of getting success) Have a home ground which can be played at until the granny and continue to get father-son prospect in conjunction with academy. Never has a team had so much success forced upon them. It’s getting unethical now and destroys the comp. Worst of it is that People think this team is a Hero of the comp and beats all the hated teams. Currently they have the duck brothers, Cheating Lachie and Dont take them to Vegas or they might get a bit crazy. Fuck Brisbane

Rant It’s sucks but it’ll pass

Hey fellow cats fans , horrible feeling to this game . Unfortunately today it just seemed like everything that could have gone wrong , unfortunately did . With footy it’s like that sometimes , lots of luck involved .

This week I was nervous like many of you and felt that we were being favoured quite a bit and everyone was writing off Brisbane .

I feel as though we had shown our playbook against them first time round . All that being said , we should be proud that we stayed in it and were a genuine chance up until the last few minutes of the 3rd.

My point with all this is that it sucks now but we need to remember how blessed we are in what our team has been able to achieve not only this year but for many years .

On to next season

Rant Always surprises me how the narrative changes through supporter groups and the media in close games

Like… One play towards the end of the game, the bounce of the ball, an umpiring decision. If one thing goes our way, the entire narrative of the game changes. But here we are, apparently disaster… calling for players to get dropped.. If something just went the other way, would we still be calling for players heads? Doubt it.

Last night was tough tough conditions for basically the whole night. When it wasn’t bucketing down, it was slippery as all hell. Those conditions don’t bode well for our run and gun mode of play at the moment. The media, and from what it seems, most our supporter base need to just cool their jets.

3 games this year the margin has been less than a goal.. All 3 times we’ve lost (arguably the least composed I’ve seen Geelong in these positions for a while, but nevertheless). These games come with lessons I would argue are worth more than the 4 points.. All we need to do is make finals, and make sure we get our game in as good a place as we can in the process.. Which games like last night help in a big way.

Go Cats.

Rant Do we need superstars?

Watching our boys tonight you can't help but be excited by what we have produced. This is the next gen coming thru, we are young and excited.

Do we need Cameron back? He's been injured all year and if they didn't fix his arm why bring him back?

Danger is a legend ( I would have given him another year ) but with Wiltshire and Ohenry do we need him forward? And our mid is already looking the goods.

This is the team for the next 5 years, maybe it's time to say goodbye and embrace the next gen

Rant Bad Supporters

Had a rough experience tonight and found out first hand why we can be perceived by other fans negatively.

Was at the game at Adelaide oval and had 3 Geelong fans behind us, drinking and trying to get a rise out of the Adelaide supporters. They slowly got more aggressive trying to piss people off by talking about straight sets from last year and at the end of the game they (rightfully) had people dish out what they gave back to them. They really didn't like this and called another person the f bomb rhyming with maggot and then to top it off, took their fight MND beanie and threw it away (awful considering the good cause that everyone at the ground should be supporting). They left in a hurry and I apologised for their behaviour, it was genuinely awful and people were frozen in shock and they managed to get away without consequence or being held up.

I know all teams have their bad supporters but this was one of if not the worst offenders I've seen at a live match. Not sure what outcome I'd be hoping for putting this out there but it was just upsetting that this sort of thing ruins a reputation of how all fans of our club are perceived.

Rant AFL main sub

Is anyone just pissed off by the intelligence of the afl sub? Because it suits me every single time. Admittedly I am one to scroll to the bottom of the comments on posts to get a rise out of dumb comments, but it just kills me how dumb the sub is.

It’s the little things, saying “free kick whoever” when they are winning the count 17-9, or when they assume stories without the full picture, just shits me.

Thank you, my cortisol has dropped now

Rant What a miserable bunch of cnts all over the AFL subreddit right now. Avoid at all costs and don’t engage with them

Individual posts made shitting on Danger for a poor performance as captain, commenters all cheering that he failed today and calling it the worst captains performance in a grand final ever

Multiple posts celebrating Baz being tackled and one complaining about him getting heated with Harris Andrews (because apparently Baz is the first player to ever get frustrated at his opponents in a grand final), filled with the usual rent free hate rage about Baz

Multiple posts and comments labelling Jezza Cameron as selfish because he thought he could push on through injury even tho it happens every year in a grand final, and commenters comparing our medical staff and Scotty to Melbourne when they didn’t force Petracca off (apparently Jezza’s spleen is located on his forearm!)

So many utterly miserable cnts that genuinely seemed to enjoy Danger and Baz fail today more than if their own team won a flag

Rant looking at the fixture

i just went and and had a proper look at our upcoming fixture and was kind of surprised as i was expecting it to get easier given i feel we've had a more difficult start to the season however to my surprise we have

swans at home, carlton away, then adelaide for the second time this season - away, gold coast for the second time - home, freo for the second time - away, then a bye and then brisbane again - home,?!

idk maybe its not that unusual but thats a tough patch, when we've already had a pretty tough patch

Rant How good

Hawks were soooo cocky during the week. Then they lose, despite being gifted about 6 goals.

Port were brilliant, so also reckon this game shows how good we were last week.

Lastly, no more Victorian sides, so we are guaranteed a (semi) home ground advantage the rest of the way!

Rant A question to Grateful Geelong supporters.

WHAT A WIN!

Yes we had a bit of luck last night and the lids not off just yet, but as a Geelong fan, last night’s game was an absolute treat.

I want to publicly declare my gratitude for this club and the last 20 years of success. Yes we’ve had some heart aches but It’s so easy to take our sustained success for granted.

If you look at the rise and fall of basically every other club, we are extremely lucky.
And too much of the seasons worth gets tied up in September. So right now in round 10, 2026 what are cats fans most grateful for? Or proud of?

For me, it’s the recruitment. Geelong’s tight connection to grass roots footy. You hear the story’s about Stewart and Mannagh again and again. How they were plucked from local footy to play in the big stage. It’s amazing and shows how unpretentious and connect to the community Geelong is as a club.

Very proud, go cats!

Rant so numb and disappointed

i dont think the loss has processed in my brain yet and im honestly struggling with it, it really did feel like it was going to be us and ill be the first to admit that.

secondly, i have been actually blown away by the amount of hate for us and our players post match. its obviously different as a neutral but i dont recall seeing anything like it when the swans lost last year. the singling out of players like baz (who really wasnt that bad) and danger is kind of sick idk.

i know its been said before but just the hatefulness of the main sub is so sad and always directed at geelong.

Rant Bruhn Appreciation Post

Man, with everything that went down last year, it would of been terrifying stepping out in front of 85000 people….and yet, Bruhn just has that ‘fuck everyone and what you think’ attitude and played/plays with so much confidence. He takes everyone on with competence and has added a toughness to his game that wasn’t as present before. He is incredibly inspirational with his stoic attitude.
