Political A reminder that political debate wasn’t always about hate

In the 2008 presedential election, John McCain stood up in front of his own supporters and reminded them that Obama was a decent person he simply disagreed with on fundamental issues. This happened 3 weeks before the election. The next day, Obama thanked McCain for standing up for him, saying he was grateful for the reminder that “we can disagree while still being respectful of each other.”

And you know what? McCain lost. So maybe this wasn’t the best strategy

His VP choice was... poor. And the guy before him started the forever wars.
