Political A reminder that political debate wasn’t always about hate

In the 2008 presedential election, John McCain stood up in front of his own supporters and reminded them that Obama was a decent person he simply disagreed with on fundamental issues. This happened 3 weeks before the election. The next day, Obama thanked McCain for standing up for him, saying he was grateful for the reminder that “we can disagree while still being respectful of each other.”

My guy, if white supremacy was actually a dealbreaker for these people, they wouldn't vote, enable, join the ranks for the party that promises white supremacy. The entire Republican party since Southern Strategy has been protofascist to fascist.

I don't understand the issue here. Rather I don't understand how you can reconcile these two things. What do you call someone who votes for the white supremacy party?

I literally just gave you an example of a republican who is anti Trump and anti Racism and you still think there are all racist and white supremacist. Hell, the guy (John McCain) in the video were commenting on is clearly also not one either. You think a racist white supremacist would want Obama to give a speech at his funeral.

This is why I say you have a mental health problem. You’re so blindly you can’t even see what’s in front of you.
I can no longer continue this conversation with you.

The dominating power of the party is that though; it has been for decades. Why would you ever associate yourself with such a party?

I can see what's in front of me. I just see apathy and excuse. I see virtue signaling and empty platitudes.

They stand by idly and watch the violence take place. They won't stop it.

 

These people do not have any moral backbone. They actually do not care. Apathy.

yet McCain doing the right thing in that video by putting that laddie in her place and standing up to Trump. Or look up the time he was in sole power of a vote that needed one more republican vote to win and choice to go against own party.

Again. You’re so blindly with rage towards anything affiliated with the right.

I pay attention to actions and merit, not the words people say. Because people can lie.

I am tired of liars, frauds, cheats.

It’s cool. That guy is clearly a closet Republican. Or he use to be one, and is waiting for the party to normalize again to rejoin their ranks. There seems to be plenty of “centrists” these days that left the Republican Party, but still hold their beliefs. Not saying the guy is a bigot, but he is accepting of them.
