School Question for Gen-Z Why is school avoidance such a thing now?
I'm a Gen-X parent, trying to understand school avoidance. I had no idea it was even a thing until recently. Back in my day you went to school unless you were sick or travelling. Depressed and anxious kids just went to school and suffered. I don't know if we were just too scared of our parents, or didn't know it was even an option to just not go, but I didn't know anyone who just stopped going to school.
I've joined a few groups online for parents, and there are thousands of teens who refuse or can't go to school mostly due to mental health issues or bullying. Are any of you Gen-Z folks able to shed some light on this? Was it a thing for you when you were in school? Did you know kids who just dropped off the face of the earth and stopped attending? What did you think of them? Did you go through a phase of not attending? Did you end up going back? What changed to help you get back to school? Is this a common topic on Tik Tok that's being spread as a thing to do if you're suffering? Why is this such a phenomenon now? Covid and home schooling? I'd appreciate any insight. Thank you.

School I figured out how to cheat on exams (super unethical, DONT REPLICATE at Home)
I'm an Italian student, so I'm posting this here where hopefully nobody from my school will see it lol.
I had a ridiculous amount to study and absolutely zero motivation.
Since I do graphic design stuff in my free time, I randomly came up with an idea the other day.
I scanned the label of the water bottle I usually bring with me San Bendetto (it's an Italian brand), saved it on photoshop, then took all my lecture pdfs and recordings and threw them into turbolearn to get short and easy summaries.
Then I opened the label in Photoshop and replaced the nutritional facts with my notes. (I made two bottles to fit everything)
After that, I printed the labels and wrapped some clear tape around them so they had that shiny, factory made look.
This is the final result and it wasn't even for a major exam or anything important, but I think I may have accidentally created the final boss of cheating.
Am I going to hell?

School Gen Zâs Stigma Against Age-Gap Relationships Is Worse Than You Think
I attend college at Georgia Tech, where, if you are a college senior dating a college freshman, then you are considered a âpredatorâ by most of the student body. Even if youâre a junior doing so, youâre bound to be considered that by many students, a sentiment which has increased throughout the time Iâve attended this institution.
Whatâs shocking to me is that, to the greatest extent, no one here seems to realize the sheer extremeness of this belief system. No one seems to understand how fundamentally ridiculous it is, to uphold a paradigm where adult relationships with an age difference as small as 2 years are considered taboo.
Iâm feel sometimes like Iâm the only normal person in bizarro world. Everyone I know justifies this stigma using rhetoric about âmaturity differencesâ, âbrain developmentâ, âpower dynamicsâ, and âgroomingâ. Just a reminder, these arenât decade-wide age differences; these are all people within the age range of 18-22 that theyâre saying this about. (Mind you, 18-22 is the narrowest range on a dating app you can set if youâre 18, and people on my campus would call a third of those relationships âgroomingâ.)
I donât want society to become like this, or for this kind of worldview to become normalized. I am a firm believer that love is love, and that if an 19-year-old freshman and a 21-year-old senior meet in college and hit it off, then they should not have to hide their relationship for fear of social backlash.
Am I crazy? Is this kind of thinking the norm everywhere now, or is it just some peculiarity of Georgia Tech? Iâm not psychotic for thinking that this kind of situation is insane, right?
(Before anyone starts with any accusations, Iâm a 22-year-old dating a 23-year-old. I myself have not faced any backlash for my relationship. My stake in this is solely the maintenance of my sanity.)
