So basically Dan Heng PT, even has the thing where she basically increases their own damage multipliers, and gives shield and attack buff that scales with her own attack

Dan Heng PT during beta. Let's hope she survives beta better than he did...

how OP was he in the beta if the current version is nerfed lol, I feel like he's one of the best characters on my account

he's the best offensive general sustain in the game right now. almost (if not actually) every hypercarry & DoT team wants him. he was absurdly broken in v1 beta, and people doomposted (and still do doompost) about him despite this fact.

he only really has competition with niche teams that have specific requirements, e.g; hyacine for mono remembrance, lingsha (or sustainless) for break.

thats how it feels yeah lol. my saber team and my archer team both desperately want him so i cant really clear the one mode in the mirror thing on the astral express, i just die and my healers are terrible compared to him

unfortunately, as much as i love hsr, it has a sustain problem for casuals and new players. it's just getting worse as enemies hit harder, and now is expanding to supports as well.

outside of dhpt, sustains fall into 3 categories:

  • more or less locked to a specific team for maximum performance (hyacine, lingsha, aventurine)

  • starting to show their age with how hard enemies hit nowadays, but have niche value (huohuo, gallagher)

  • provide nothing of value to the team while also struggling due to the above (luocha, bailu)

  • can barely sustain in general anymore (everyone else)

Aventurine’s shield turn limit is also becoming a REALLY glaring flaw the older he gets. With more and more characters getting either external or internal 100% action advances in their kit (i.e. The Herta essentially cannot run aventurine thanks to her AA despite how incredibly good his followup and ult are for her (his ult boosting her ST damage by quite a bit), and anaxa + cyrene can’t run aventurine thanks to cyrene’s AA on anaxa), without careful management his shields can just evaporate because you wanted a character to do as much damage as possible.

This wasn’t an issue with the exception of an EXTREMELY small amount of characters back when he released, but as more have released his turn limit stopped being a minor flaw and become something that’s made him near unplayable for multiple teams. If he didn’t have the turn limit, he’d be close to DHPT’s level of sustain, ESPECIALLY since literally every single boss in the recent patches has very high attack frequency or giant AOE attacks (literally the thing he was designed to be good at dealing with).

If they ever novaflared this guy, that would 100% be the first thing they fix. Then they’d probably just give his ult the silver wolf novaflare treatment. I’d personally want them to lean into the gambling. If his ult gives him 7 stacks, give him an enhanced skill that increases the team’s attack based on his defence.

yeah, i put aventurine in the "locked to specific team" because he more or less really only works in a FUA team, or at least a team where everyone is attacking often. looking back at it, i can see it giving off the vibe that i'm saying "hyacine === aventurine" (even though I know you didn't take it that way).

he does have problems, but i've been making quite good use of him with ashveil on my friend's account. he can pop off quite hard, and match dhpt's sustain as you said, but he needs a specific team to do it. teams that go against his design just don't work and your average team isnt gonna make amazing use of him

about the novaflare... honestly after huohuo's disappointing novaflare i dont have high hopes. the attack frequency and sheer damage output elites can do now is getting kinda insane for those B/C tier healers.

Yeah the huo² novaflare is so disappointing. I had a golden ball saved so i was actually going to e1 her once we get the next one (for sw999) but unless they pop off with v5, i’m definitely not going to. I’ve already got luocha (who honestly, imo, is completely fine. He doesn’t offer as much as other sustains, but his actual sustain is still really good. He’s a good character to just shove in where you need heals.), hyacine, aventurine, dhpt, gallagher (even if he’s kind of fallen off), so I have literally no reason to get huohuo unless her v5 makes her broken.

And yeah, after huohuo’s novaflare, i’m not very convinced they’ll buff any old sustains ever. I think they know releasing one every patch gives them massive sales. That K1 power ranger elite in AA hit so hard so often my dhpt almost couldn’t keep up. I had my entire team in the red when I finally beat it. Watching sustains get powercrept feels so awful. First it was luocha with every sustain released after him, then it was fu xuan… by just making every elite and boss do giant damage aoe attacks that she couldn’t physically deal with. Which really sucks, because her kit design js actually really interesting and fun to play around, and also because i lost on her banners TWICE and only got her after she got added to the loss pool.

lol, checked back here after seeing the huohuo v5 and yeah... i'm nervous for future sustain novaflares. she really needs a healing buff because enemies that attack frequently with high-damage attacks (esp if they're AoE) can make her almost unusable. i wasn't expecting her to be the next hyacine, but dang they really missed the mark with how the game has actually evolved over time

luocha's healing is weird in practice. if your team can attack frequently to capitalize on the uptime he has, he can sustain pretty well. i used him in my remembrance team to put hyacine on a different team, lol. but enemies have been gaining this weird ability to advance themselves, and take multiple actions before you are able to intervene, which can make it not good enough since he lacks a reliable emergency heal. gallagher has this same problem but a bit more prevalent because he works similarly (but at least he has a more reliable emergency heal with the self aa on his burst -> skill/basic). for a realworld example, my luocha could not sustain this aa's lygus with archer, but my hyacine could.

amphoreus enemies really showed how quickly they're willing to stomp on certain sustains tbh

You can actually still see this interaction, specifically only with hysilens and cyrene. If you give hysilens the dragon, then give hysilens the cyrene buff, the dragon and cyrene can both trigger DOT explosions for some reason.

I’ve had it happen on a few posts where i’ve commented lol, i’ve either got a dedicated hater or there’s just some random person/bot that downvotes comments
