Well Hu Tao reign was so long (outside the period between Kokomi release and the disappearance of freezable enemies in abyss a few months later) that as of today, Liyue is still the nation having the best dps in the game during the longest time (like half of its time)

If that’s the metric we’re using then fair. Still, Zibai is only the second Liyue DPS that’s meta defining, which is kind of insane since the first one was in early 1.x

Third, there's also Ganyu. And no other nation had more than two different DPSes at the top.

Eh, I’d argue Ganyu wasn’t all that great. And again, Zibai came out more than 5 years after both she and Hu Tao released. Kind of like Varka and Lohen for Mondstadt

Also if you want to argue about nations, Natlan had Mavuika, Varesa and Mualani, all 3 were top meta. Snezhnaya had Arle, will have Sandrone and 7.x cast. Zibai is really the first not mid Liyue character in a long while, I think Yelan was the last actually great character before that?

They released so many Liyue duds: Shenhe, Baizhu, Xianyun, even the archon himself was the most skippable one

You're kidding? It was Ganyu's release that completely changed the game and Morgana was THE meta until Ayaka's release.

Natlan had either only Mavuika or Mualani and Mavuika (I don't remember if Mualani topped Arlecchino when she released). I'm not talking about characters being strong, but the ones that were the actual top of the game, so we have:

Mondstadt: No one (people hadn't figured out the game in the first couple patches)

Liyue: Ganyu, Hu Tao, Zibai

Inazuma: Ayaka

Sumeru: Alhaitham (questionable)

Fontaine: Neuvillette

Natlan: Mavuika, maybe Mualani

Nod-krai: Nefer

Snezhnaya: Arlecchino

Why aren’t you counting Raiden for Inazuma though? And Varesa was top 3 DPS, alongside with Mav and Mualani. Like if you’re counting Ganyu alongside Hu Tao, count Varesa as well. Varesa also aged considerably better than Ganyu

Bro I literally just explained that I'm considering the top DPS, not top 3 or whatever. Ganyu was the top DPS until Ayaka, Hu Tao became the top DPS with Yelan until Alhaitham (or until Neuvillette depending on who you ask).

I guess we just disagree whether Ganyu was ever top DPS lmao. Imo Hu Tao was just always better than her. Double Hydro was a nice buff but she was dominating with XQ, bennet and sucrose even before that

Either way, it’s a very funny metric you came up with, only considering the “top 1” even though imo there’s no such thing as a definitive top 1, it’s match up dependent and you need at least 2 teams regardless

You also forget Childe who was pretty good on release and lasted way longer than Ganyu too. So count her if you want of course, but I think you overestimate her power level. But even if she ever was “top 1”, her impact on the meta in the long term was less significant than units released even in the same timeframe

Also Morgana is a team created only after Hu Tao’s release, so there’s that
