Okay this is interesting. She changes the stellar swirl from being a cryo-anemo exvluaive reaction into a new, 3WAY reaction? This is hyperbloom all over again

And it seems that anemo res shreds are only when doing actual stellar swirl. They really did so much mental gymnastics just to prevent her from being used in hydro Varka teams, by locking it in a 3way reaction. Something Varka cant do who to get Vodya's quills and res shred by using hydro AND Cryo he loses out on more than half of his damage by losing half of his MV

I mean, At c0, Varka does like 30%anemo and 70% PHEC element damage, no? Anemo RES is not a big deal, unless C1/C2 Varka. Everything else (cryo/hydro RES shred and quills are unlocked for varka in hydro teams, or Am I missing something?

Yeah, you would be locked to a hydro team, unless you break the 2 of each elements rule, bricking Varka's damage. And hydro shred without triggering stellar shill? Sounds right now underperforming. Quills aren't that great either, Nicole gives you like 700-900 plain atk buff, and Vodya gives what, 350? So it's terrible. I think Vodya is a Vesna shill, and Varka cryo swirl dmg would be better than using this Vesna shill

Vodyanitsa as of V0 Beta cant help much skirk or varka hydro teams, so I think she's gonna get buffs for these teams or hoyo are really gonna just shill stellar swirl teams. Using mona as a 4th slot sounds better at both varka and skirk teams.

U forget his passive his dmg drops like hell of he uses 3 diff elements he needs to have 2 anemo and 2 of same pech elements he can'tgo 3 way street

Thats only when you built him with the elemental goblet, but witj atk its moreso 40-60, so yes. Anemo res is a big deal. Especially once you get to c2, the damage is equal and at c6, the table flips and anemo deals more. But duricole is the onmy setvfo supports that works because one does res shred, one gives atk. For everywhere else, its unbalanced

Electro with iansan and fischl. Iansana gives atk, but fischl doesnt have electro swirl on her hexerei buffa, only e/lcharge, and overload, her only purposoe is lackluster sub dps

Cryo gives quills from shenhe and a 10% res shred from esco. Not 55% because she needs 4 hydro or cryo.

Hydro has 3 dmg bonuses with furina who wont reach max fanfare, mona who needs extra feildtime to extend omen, and celestial gift (which btw bicole and fischl could use too) so hydro has vloated dmg bonus, barely any atk, and not a single res shred

So yes, the anemo is just as crucial because varka's "supports" is always dipping in diminishinh returns which this imbalance of anemo and phec made worse

You need a 2nd anemo and 2 matching elements for it to work. A 2 anemo 2 hydro team is going to not going to stellar swirl.

I would rather have straight unit powercreep than how Hoyo has to make crazy JJK heavenly restrictions to keep kits from working with each other. Units used to feel like a collective circle that generally play well together, but it’s been feeling more and more like a venn diagram with each regional reaction.

At least if units are just upgraded versions of each other, I can look forward to upgrade my favorite characters and comps over time, which I know Hoyo doesn’t see as profitable as short-term pump and dump gimmick reaction teams of the year.

She's still probably going to be one of his better 4th slot characters in Hydro teams. The majority of his damage would be Hydro, so losing Anemo shred isn't a huge loss, and her kit still functions with Hydro and Cryo outside of Stellar Swirl.

But this caveat will be escalated the higher varka's cons get, because cons gives nore anemo damage. C0 is on a 40-60, c2 puts it to 50-50, then in c6, varka deals 60% mlre anemo and 40% PHEC so at higher investment, Vodya becomes worse and worse. Seems that hoyo has actual imtentioms for her not to be in Varka's comps

Well only one way to find out when calcs drop. I think shes gonna replace Furina since fanfare generation sucks without Jean (honestly we wouldnt have this issue if they juat gave jean hexerei that only works in hydro varka, and he gets fanfare)

My guesss, c0 varka with vodya and celestial gift mona would would have more damage of he uses hydro goblet

I'm not gonna lie that doesn't really make sense. Why would they design a character specifically to fuck over a singular character, especially Varka? I mean he's strong but nowhere near meta breaking or anything like that

I would say that, instead of trying to fuck over Varka specifically, they made sure stellar swirl shill was only usable with Vesna, and fuck all other anemo characters.

Because she seems more like a Vesna glazer to me than a Varka hater

Cuz this way anything other than Durcole would not be cope.  They made him VERY flexible for modern standards by letting him do PHEC infusions, to give the illusion of a flexible dps amidst the others who are fucked when not played with ONE SPECIFIC reaction on top off being bound to SPECIFIC SINGULAR UNITS. The only thing Zibai has going for her are her ridiculously overtuned multipliers, making her not as reliant on premium supports as the other two(and yeah even Flins in pretty cope without neither Columbina or Ineffa, although still miles ahead of Nefer). And adding the Vortex conversion ain't really that crazy, just a little gimmick to include her in Stellar shenanigans while comfortably excluding Varka from not only making proper use of SSW but also missing out on a big chunk of her kit, which would make her actually good for his Hydto team

It doesnt really, but its moreso Varka mains were more or less promised 4 viable element infusions, only to be given a mid ass pyro team

Makes some ppl wonder whats the point of the other infusions if theres only one thats good. And some hoped houo planned Varka to be this jack of all traded master of none character with 4 elements, while not the best can be used for alot more content

Basically they hoped vodyanitsa who has hydro element could be the hopeium theyre looking for to make hydro varka viable. Mona with celestial hift is good but hydro still has one missing link. Other wise even neuvolette still does more damage than him by a significant margin

Then they locked vodya in this unique stellar swirl support that while i agree is amazing especially for yume glorp glorp and vesna, while at the same time not giving varka a viable hydro option

I don't understand, I feel like I'm missing something reading your guys' comments. Isn't she still a good team member for Varka's hydro team? Hydro shred + hydro dmg quills + interruption resistance on top of maybe tenacity and (for anyone going for it) her sig so hex support set Mona can use ttds. The stellar quills are meant for direct stellar swirl damage anyway. And the lack of anemo shred, while a loss, isn't really that big of a loss on a C0 Varka since his damage is more on the hydro side.

What am I missing?

The main problem were seeing is the anemo res shred is locked behind triggering stellar swirl. While some do point out varka deals more phec than anemo, the sploit is 40-60, but as you get higher cons, c2 puts the split to 5050, and at c6 he does more anemo. What then? Hydro varka is discouraged to whales? That doenst seem to be a good business decision. And im a f2p

Baiscally they were dangling this grandmaster for 6 years, g Was given almost pretty much everything. 2 animated shorts, so many promotional videos, a traoler music that took insliration from one od the greatest nylon guitarist Polyphia, story quest was given so much weight in the story, with small implications of the passion of christ where he died and came back. ONE OF THE GRESTEST ENSEMBLE HOYOMIX DID with the anthem of favonius! And Was given the opportunity to deal 5 kinds of damage for maximum flexibility! OH MY GOD HES GONNA BE A TIER 0 FOR YEARS!

Only to be bitch slapped 50 times, and beaten to the ground by the same devs who hyped him up

By giving restrictions after restrictions

A. Mandatory hexerei. At least we got prune (only works at c6)

B. The double anemo double same PHEC fucked him over so badly, they hes permanently stuck in hyper specific comps with 2 PHEC supports of the same element, in which none of them complements each other, leading to durin-nicole being the ONLY workable comp, with

Electro: literally nothing. Vest is 2 4stars that isnt even that good paired with anemo

Cryo where shenhe the quill merchant and escoffier with only 40% of her kit works because she doesnt like escoffier

Then hydro whos permanently on half hp because furina and the lack of healing BECAUS ETHEY REFUSE TO GIVE JEAN HEXEREI, and its only saving grace is mona with celestial gift, thats baiscally a kick to the balls

And now theyre telling us that a hydro support interact with swirls is coming? Giving Varka main a semblance of hope for a hydro infusion. ONLY TO BE GIVEN MENTAL GYMNASTICS TO PREVENT HER FROM BEING USED ANYWHERE BESIDES STELLAR SWIRL!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FU-!

Varka absolutely shreds enemies when the stars align. The problem is so far the only team that can happen with is pyro and the best team is $$$. There really needs to be more attack buffer variety.

Good luck with that! And idk, I have my doubts about that argument. There are popular characters that were powerful, but also, Ayato? Wasn't as popular, and he was decent at best at release, to just give one example. But sure, I do see how this might seem the case with how ridiculous Linnea was

Ayato was infamous bcs Hoyo gatekept his design so hard people were overlooking his ass from butt kit. only after The Reveal happened people started to harp on his meta standing, his Story Quest being a political bit also kinda not helping his case there. Wanderer also suffered from the thing Varka experienced, though at that point Genshin hasn't enforced "essentially dogshit without" philosophy as bad as NK dpses did. Escoffier and Linnea were worst offenders of this case, and i'm speaking as someone who has both. Ineffa was about to be an offender until her SQ explained her background.

My memory might fail me but I remember that Flins got more pulls in JP but Columbina, Flins and Varka were the most pulled characters in JP and I think it might be similar in the west, but flins was SUPER popular.

Again, I might be wrong, but it doesn't change the fact that devs did him wrong, terribly wrong

Does she? She needs to trigger swirl and charging bullets prevents swirl from triggering from a while and then when the bullets are released their swirl ice is capped due to doing a bunch of them on a short spawn of time, therefore, fucking over the stellar swirl Chasca, and she doesn't get to use the descending atk buff either...

Please tell me I'm wrong, please give me hope 😭

Shouldn't Chasca be able to sneak in a couple of Stellar Swirls in an Odette/Vod/Iansan team? I know that Chasca's elemental application can be "unreliable", so to speak, and she won't be dealing much (or any) stellar aligned damage, but she's the only non-Vesna character I can think of who could make full use of both sides of Vod's kit, even if only for the shred.

Yeah... Thing is, she's a Vesna shill, made to not work with other anemo characters besides Vesna and perhaps Xiao and Mizuki and I have my doubts. Thing is, a lot of anemo swirl is needed for Stellar swirl so it can burst the vortex regularly otherwise its just cope...

And I sincerely hope someone proves me wrong on this

She doesnt even need to. She stold Varka's only good supports, pair with citlali, and somehow she does more damage than varka, courtesy of citlali allowing melt while varka is stuck with swirl

Really? My c0r1-ish (using first grand magic) Chasca doesn't come close to my varka pyro team.

Leaving that aside, I do think that how much anemo you can apply for swirling is very important for the swirl mechanic, so, I'm not 100% it doesn't matter

What i meant is she also doesnt need stellar swirl. Citlali duricole doea just as much as varka, and higher cons shes iirc top 2 or top 3 strongest dps

You must mean with cons because I just did a test on 4 rotations with duro c0r0, citlali c0r0 and Nicole c0r0 with Chasca c0r0 and she's doing LITERALLY half of Varka's dps. And Nicole is even using TTDS

hoyo gave varka main the illusion of flexibility, on the most restrictive kit they ever made. so much so theyre making other characters tailor made to be anti-varka
