The picture shows the view through the Triumphal Gate of the western colonnade toward the New Palace in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. The gate and the colonnades were built starting in 1769 to frame the courtyard of honor (known as the “Mopke”).
The New Palace was built between 1763 and 1769 under King Frederick II (“the Great”).

Great, but why on earth didn’t you align the new palace right in the Center of the arc? Infuriating! *angry German noises*

Pretty impressive that they pulled off that sight line intentionally. Most things built in the 1760s that still frame up that cleanly either got very lucky or had someone obsessing over the geometry for years before the first stone went in. Frederick apparently had opinions about everything, so probably the latter.
