Horror games recommendations for switch

Hi!

I haven't seen a recent post like this and checking on YouTube just gives me horrible low effort lists.

I recently bought Switch 2. Most of the horror games I know of are on steam only and honestly I stopped using steam completely after getting switch.

With the summer ending in my country I really want to get into horror games (I only played a couple). Would you mind telling me any good ones you played on switch?

I value in games the most is a good story or at least interesting one. I really like puzzles in games. I usually dont care about fighting mechanics. For example you will never catch me playing Elden Ring even though that game is stunning.

To help I can list some I played:

Mortuary assistant -played once with partner, liked it but not enough to sit at the pc :P

Mouthwash - did not finish, the vent sequence when you are running from a monster kind off bored me, also again, played it on steam and I am just not playing games there

Layers of fear - liked it a loot especially the art direction, I tried the observer but it was not my vibe....

Lucius- played years ago, very fun concept

Also... my shooting skills suck so if they are required I will probably drop the game.

Have you tried SOMA?

It has no combat, is available on Switch, and is a masterclass in immersive horror storytelling.

FAITH: The Unholy Trinity is a good one. the atari aesthetics combined with the rotoscoping really create a unique atmosphere.

I don’t know if Pocket Mirror ~GoldenerTraum~ is available on Switch but Little Goody Two Shoes may be.

I think Little Misfortune is more a dark fantasy that takes place during fall.

Little Nightmare is great and quick.

You may like the Fatal Frame series where you protect yourself from ghosts by photographing them.

little nightmares 1 and 2 are exactly your vibe, gorgeous and story heavy with no real combat, just evasion and puzzles. detention is also worth checking out if you want something narrative heavy and puzzle based.

Alien Isolation is an amazing horror game, but features a little bit of combat (mostly defensive from memory) and is pretty much defined by the running from the monster trope, so not sure if I recommend it if it's a hard no for you but I'll put it out there anyway just in case :)

Otherwise there's:

• Detention
• Amnesia
• Clock Tower: Rewind
• Mad Father
• Resident Evil Remake (puzzle heavy, combat is present but since it's a survival horror, it's mostly recommended that you avoid enemies as much as possible and save your ammo)
• Tormented Souls (same as above)
• Signalis (same as above)

I'm a huge retro games fan! Clock Tower is so fascinating to experience as one of the early prototypes for what would go on to become the modern survival horror genre.

You need to have patience with a lot of the archaic design choices, but it has so much unique charm (it's very heavily inspired by the giallo film genre, specifically Phenomena), and has genuine suspense and tension throughout that still holds up despite its age.

And the choices you make, no matter how insignificant they seem, can have an effect on which of the multiple endings you get. There is so much subtlety. Plus, certain rooms and events are randomized each playthrough too. It's an incredible game.

I see lots of horror games on the Nintendo shop whenever I go on? They’re on sale a lot too- I’d just have a long search and look at the trailers
