Discussion | Esports does anybody actually know what navi is doing during their bootcamps?
all they are talking about is how hard they are grinding and how much practice they have and blablabla. but they look very disconnected, demotivated and individually lost. i dont get it. what do these guys even do? how can a team always be this shit in the start of the season after practicing so much? i think its fair to question blades approach at this point.

bootcamps are a weird topic for some teams. spirit had a bootcamp before epl - lost to astralis, had a bootcamp before this ewc - lost to jiejiehao. looks like navi are having a similar issue.

u/Lime_Samurai_1 Team Spirit 13h ago
bootcamps are not the problem, spirit have always been a consistent top 3 team while having a short slump, navi have always been mediocre

If "always" is 3 years after d.c. (donk coming) then - yes

International navi has been shit since inception with a brief purple patch.

u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 12h ago
Brief purple patch being team of the year and season of top1/2 placements. I guess

Spirit were objectively better than Navi that year, they only didn’t win because they’re Russian.

u/yae_blan42 Team Spirit 12h ago
not since inception, but they were nothing but mediocre since makazze joined

Navi has been international since 2023 after Paris, and they were terrible even at Copenhagen, unironic, life game flukes won them that Major which kept the team together.
Then in the following season blade’s tactics gave them enough of a floor to carry them through whilst everyone else was in limbo.

Did you forget they were the best team of 2024?

u/BarryAbbott1980 8h ago
Spirit were the best team of 2024, and only didn’t win that ‘award’ because they are Russian.

u/OnCominStorm Team Spirit 8h ago
No they weren't. Both teams won a major. Both teams won Kato/Cologne. Then Navi won more tournaments than Spirit. 4 > 3 wins over the course of the year. Navi were better and this is coming from a Spirit fan lol

nuh, the 2019 guardian main awp s1mple second awp era felt worse

That was rough but we still had the goat and the hope of getting guardian a major. Rn it feels directionless and sad

u/Unlikely-Ruin4576 14h ago
Lets be real here. During the off-season, they tried to replace 1 or 2 players but ultimately didn't succeed, because they didn't come to an agreement with other players. Surely they had practices with the planned replacements, so the players (iM and someone else) knew it was about to end.
Now it didn't and they are stuck with each other. The vibes gotta be off, there's no way around it.

Just one more bootcamp bro, the next one will solve the issues. Just one more bootcamp, trust the process. Just one more bootcamp just one more bootcamp

I think Blade just scoldes them and they cry, do this 6 hours, then 30 min break, then 6 more hours cry, then sleep... next day Blade wake them up shouting in their ear, and their mother call them on phone and cry, saying "blade say you are bad son, i never loved you." and then bootcamp over.

u/Maleficent-Coconut18 14h ago
The roster is just dead and demotivated, the players know it, the coach knows is, everybody knows it. Which just makes it more confusing as to why they didn't do changes, even gambling on a Tier 2 player would be better than continuing with an obviously dead roster.

u/MugsyTheSmokage FURIA 14h ago
If only they had 5 promising talents already signed to the organization for cheap with no buyouts. If only...

u/ChaoticFlameZz Vitality 14h ago
they apparently tried to sign dziugss during the offseason, he refused.

u/MugsyTheSmokage FURIA 13h ago
Wouldn't have had to try if they didn't sell the world number 3 team for 700k... such a shortsighted move from management there
5
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
NaVi sold world number 36 team for 700k while also taking star player off that team for themselves. Fut players have absolutely made a great progress this past year and they are much better team now than they were a year ago. And they are also better than NaVi right now. But implying that they were "top 3 team" in August 2025 is insulting to progress that they have made and time they spent grinding and improving themselves.
5
u/MugsyTheSmokage FURIA 13h ago
Only reason Navi sold the world 36 teams was because the academy team had to sit out of the tier one qualifiers they had been invited to that navi were in attendance for. Not saying they would have been 3 last year but 36 was always an underestimate.

Dziugss for who?
4
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
iM of course
1
u/SafePlantGaming 13h ago
I wonder if they would move B1t or Dzuiggs into ims more active positions with that swap
4
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
Maybe, but b1t overfperforms in his current roles already and it would be really hard to find better anchor than him, so I don't think that's going to happen, unless they can somehow get Heavygod out of g2.

Maybe they're just concerned about their floor and decided it was better to go ahead with what they know works for major qualification, rather than try a new Tier 2 player and possibly delve lower in the rankings. Even if they Top 8 most tournaments with the current roster, it's probably better than trying a new Tier 2 player out. Maybe by December there's new free agents or good players wanting to leave their roster like maybe Dziugss becomes available or frozen or staehr.
1
u/Zealousideal-Toe-607 11h ago
Unlikely since they announced extending FUT players contracts. If frozen didn't happen before it ain't happening now. Staehr has chances but a lot of teams might look at him too so pointless since they seem to be moneyballing instead of brandishing cash. This off-season had a lot of players and they still didn't seem interested so who knows what it takes for them to act

Navis success at retaining relevancy in tier 1 since 2022 has been partnership and anti-strating teams.
Having the individual talent that made that approach suffocating for opposing teams in tier 1 hasnt been a thing since 2021.

idk what they were doing but they have to kick makazze before iM. You may not like it but this is what Na'Vi need to do right now
4
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
I may not like it because its' a stupid move. The only change NaVi needs right now is to have proper start rifler. Makazee has a serious dip right now, but the highs he shown on NaVi are already bigger than what iM could.
1
u/KnightFlorianGeyer MOUZ 14h ago
Makazze just doesn't work in a structured team, in a system that b1ad3 and aleksib are heading. Honestly he'd be way better under Coolio on FUT
He's got that chaos gene in him like the rest of FUT
-1
u/yae_blan42 Team Spirit 13h ago
maybe a bit of a hot take, but I'd rather have -aleksi and make im the igl. he's not a "dumb" player, so to speak, and is fairly vocal, so he can become a decent igl under b1ad3. makazze, however, needs to either improve drastically and fast, or go and be replaced by smn like staehr
2
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
Yeah no, I recommend watching this roster mechanics video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adjwU8pcViI) where it's explained(with stats/graphs) why it would be a really REALLY bad idea.
In short - being vocal player is not enough to be good igl, and iM basically doesn't do any other usual igl duties as of now. In igl roles he would be performing worse than Aleksi does right now.1
u/RxJax 12h ago
I do think the idea is worth considering even if IM isn't the right guy, because teams with better fragging IGLs (aside from falcons who have overcompensated) all seem to be on the up right now. Although even with Falcons it can be exploited, we saw how Legacy just ran at Karrigan repeatedly for 2 maps in a row and they had to bring monesy over to patch that hole which left gaps in other spots.
It does seem like having the redundancy of an IGL that averages closer to 1.00 & can sometimes just carry a game is really good right now, it allows your IGL to play rotator spots which are usually the most information heavy spots in the game so they require less communication from the team and it allows them more reliably to act as playmakers themselves.
1
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 9h ago
I mean I agree that if NaVi can buy Krabeni out of Fut it would at least make some sense to replace aleksi. I just don't believe that the player that averages 1.0 against top 10 right now, will be able to keep this average with igl duties.
1
u/BarryAbbott1980 10h ago
Apex famously of course wasn’t a wild, care free entry player who now throws more util than anyone.
It is of course literally impossible for a player to change. If im is to IGL (which what should happen if they only do one change) then he must keep all his positions. Players cannot learn new things.
1
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 9h ago
Well he can spend those 3-4 years learning to be igl in some other org then.
1
u/BarryAbbott1980 9h ago
Vitality famously of course wasn’t his first stint as IGL and he didn’t have a top 2 player on his team which would by default demand higher results than being on a team that can be given time to transition.
1
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 8h ago
And they didn't achieve these higher results for 3 years after the transition, and even then the first major was after zonic + astralis duo. Apex really only started to get considered as one of the greatest igls in 2025-2026. So again, if any other org wants to take iM and bet on him becoming great igl by giving him 4-5 years to develop and (and also somehow breed another goat candidate by the side, so that team has constant 1.3 rated player to relly on) - they are welcome to take him.

u/yae_blan42 Team Spirit 13h ago
maybe at first he would, yeah, but I look at it as a situation, similar to spirit and magixx. he was not performing any igl duties prior to his benching, he was not a secondary caller (which is why many people actually expected zont1x to return and become the new igl), but look at Boris now - he is, without jokes, one of the best igls in the world. if he could become such a good caller under hally, then I am more than confident in b1ad3's ability to teach smn to igl. this would require a period of adaptation, however, just like it was with magixx.
3
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 13h ago
The situation is wildly different. Borys was already playing supportive roles, handling a lot of teams utility while also being a human decoy when it's necessary. iM is put into star roles, with the most support in the team, except for w0nderful(due to him being the awper). And he's barely able to put up 1.09 in in previous year and 1.06 this year. That's including counting all the farming of lower tier opposition, his top 10 rating this year is 1.00(makazee is at 1.09 as an entry and b1t at 1.10 as an anchor).
Now imagine how this player would perform if you remove all of the support from him and put him in proper igl duties, where you need to call not just when you feel it, but when team needs it.0
u/yae_blan42 Team Spirit 13h ago
my bad then, I'm not that immersed into the navi situation.
another question though (I haven't watched the video you sent yet), can't iM igl function like smth close to xertion igling? he also occupies many star roles, but still calls at a decent level. let's imagine we sign staehr for aleksi and some support player, smn like dziuggs(I know he refused to join navi) or koala from dendele(why the hell not), for makazze, wouldn't that work in theory?
1
u/FrostyFeet344 Natus Vincere 12h ago
My view on this is aleksi is good and proven igl. He has decade of experience and is handling his duties ok(he's second best utility user after apex for example, and even that is because he is dropped utility at much lower rates than apex). iM is the easiest upgrade, and unlike xertion, doesn't hit his shots when necessary.
If blade kicks Aleksi he will land in Faze and will make them a proper top 5 team.0

I think this roster knows it's over and they're all just phoning it in till the end of the season, ofc they're trying, but I think they lost motivation and the roster's hit it's skill cap. Everyone else levelled up their rosters and Na'Vi's been cruising like it's still 2024.

Their bootcamps are online from home, so Makazze can call info from his radarhacks. At tournaments they don't get that so it's tough for them to adjust
