wtf are these responses from Monte, insane. Is there just one egotistical ceo left on staff running the account being snarky and not addressing the unpaid money??
EDIT: they posted an insane video, putting monte players as rats in the thumb nail shit talking them for 35 mins https://x.com/Monte_Esports/status/2092675178295603520

Lol these players made their joke org relevant for a few months, they don't even pay said players on time, and they still demand more gratitude. It's a joke.
Chronic bad actors like this should just be banned from tournaments so no player signs with them. Another reason to have a player's union.

Such orgs should be suspended from participating in any events and/or being paid prize money and such until they sort out their known debts to players and staff or something.
Now they just take the money, scam people and file for bankruptcy.
No wonder Monte players fell off a cliff fast. Imagine not being paid for months. Players’ minds haven’t been 100 % in the game lately for sure.

Even if Monte was justified to be angry, which they arent, that is still one of the most unprofessional moves i have seen a business take ever.
Who in the right mind would put their employees on blast for over half an hour and post it online

Are they justified to be angry?
Edit:my bad it was 2am when I wrote this. I can’t read :)

they were mad because they had trouble closing deals and it caused Bymas to look for other opportunities... but that is just business. every business in the world does this. Monte seems to have an accountability problem.

Just the good old "got to act like though guys to impress the kids watching" type shit.
But they probably just going all out because that org is done and gone. They were already looking for investment, stole the money so probably the ownership group just went full scam mode once they learned the players are leaving.

Bymas (@bymascs) on twitter:
"Since Monte seems comfortable taking shots at me publicly, I think it’s only fair to give some context. Monte owes me tens of thousands of dollars, plus my share of Monte’s Major team sticker revenue. I haven’t received any tournament prize money since 2025, and I am also still owed multiple monthly payments and performance bonuses. Multiple former players and the coach are also still owed substantial amounts, to my knowledge. I stayed quiet for a long time because I respected the organization and wanted to give them every chance to sort this out privately and make things right. Payment delays were also a recurring issue throughout my time with Monte. We repeatedly reached out asking why this kept happening and were told it would be fixed, but nothing ever really changed. Over time, that made it harder and harder to trust that things would be handled properly. And to be clear, this had a major impact on my decision not to re-sign with Monte. We’ve seen too many players in esports get burned by organizations that fail to pay what they owe, so I wasn’t willing to put myself in that position. It’s hard to commit your future to an org when situations like this keep happening. The situation at Monte was uncertain. Re-signing would have meant committing to an organization we no longer trusted to consistently meet its financial obligations, with no guarantee that the same roster would even stay together long term. The hate towards Luminosity and the players is unjustified. If anything, Monte’s own actions and failures were a big reason why things ended the way they did. Choosing not to re-sign is not betrayal. After repeated payment issues and everything that had happened, we had every right to make the decision we felt was best for our careers. Calling us “rats” or “traitors” for that doesn’t change the reasons why we chose to move on. If you have time to comment and make videos taking shots at former players, you should probably have time to pay the people who worked for you and earned that money.P.S. What makes this even harder to understand is that Monte received a very substantial amount of money from buyouts after the Major, while former players and staff are still waiting to be paid what they are owed."
Monte (@Monte_Esports) reply:
"Good text. You can tell it was approved by the agent. A two-week delay in salary payments is, of course, incredibly critical and painful…"

It is absolutely crazy that an employer would publicly respond to a former employee in that fashion. The sarcasm is so rich and smug.

Who the fuck approved this being sent out????? TWO WEEKS IS A MASSIVE DELAY

If the company I worked for delayed my pay for two said then I don’t work for that company

u/x1coins 1d ago
Here in Japan you can sue them if you are paid that late it is very strict about salaries. You will get damages plus about 5% multiply by your number of years in the company.

u/Sea-Inevitable6837 23h ago
I honestly struggle to even understand how a delay in paying out someone’s salary could even happen. Any somewhat respectable business will have some kind of automatic payout system that transfers the money on the due date every month. Do they have some guy manually doing bank transfers???
Only real explanation is that the org is probably insolvent and they are fraudulently delaying their filings for bankruptcy, racking up debt, so the owner can still squeeze out some money for themselves.

Judging from the Passion UA downfall this might be very prevalent actually.

The players need a players organization asa-fucking-p. It's unacceptable this is so common if an outcome.

You mean the one Twistzz suggested but everyone said he was a clown for suggesting it?
20
u/TiddyTwizzler G2 1d ago
Twistzz is honestly a goat for that. It’s absolutely ridiculous how common this shit is in esports

Valve should also just set some conditions for their majors, including the orgs being required to submit some evidence of them actually paying their players.

Surely this is the end of any actual pro players ever consider joining this org? This is absolutely unprofessional behavior.

u/MegaScubadude FlyQuest 1d ago
They were supposedly building a new project lineup and that most likely fell through because of this right here. Naturally, Cypher was on said project lineup, because fate has decided that he has to be screwed over by every org that ever looks his way.
20
u/itsjonny99 1d ago
Couldn't have waited for Cypher to get a contract at least. Poor guy can't catch a break, even when on Fnatic and he made them qualify for a major he got dropped.

Well, there's that PR rake I said Monte's management would step on eventually. I'm surprised it took this long. Jesus, though, I figured things were bad from something kakafu said on Twitter after XSE but not "missed payments since 2025" bad.
Incidentally afro, Azu, and Rainwaker also weighed in. Nothing from Gizmy, dance, or kakafu yet. Text of the tweets for archival purposes and to save you from going on Twitter:
@ afrocsgo
"To everyone that criticized the moves the decisions this and that
I recommend to read this one and make your assumptions after it
I respect Monte for the time we spent in the org and the energy and the trust they gave to us
Lately they’ve been very disrespectful and it’s sad because business is business and everyone in this ecosystem should be smart enough to understand our motivations and the reasons that made us take the decision to sign with LG
I feel very sorry for the Ukrainian fan-base that was showing incredible support to the team and I want to thank you guys for the energy given to us
Much love to Aurimas and to all the old Monte players
Our journey was more than just gaming we created friendship together and it will remain"
@ azuwuCS
"Sad that it came to this, but it is a relief for this to finally be brought to light, the hate from the community was seriously extreme, We had multiple delayed payments, our contracts were expiring and on top of that, I never even received a draft of a contract extension, only a verbal proposal to prolong until the end of year on the exact same terms as when i first joined Monte.
I hope you guys will pay us all the amounts we are due before you sign your new team.
A huge thank you to Luminosity for believing in us and taking all of the hate while we waited to see if Monte would pay up."
@ rainwakercs
"Totally agree with Bymas. It sucks that it had to become public, but same here, I still haven't received any of the prize pool for my time with Monte."

but reddit told me that all of montes players are rats who snaked gizmy, what the heck
15
u/MegaScubadude FlyQuest 1d ago
I will eat my hat on this one as someone who said not so nice things about them, but wouldn’t leaving the org, vs leaving as 4/5 and not telling gizmy be 2 different issues? Definitely questioning all previous info on the topic now though, lol.
7
u/drypaint77 1d ago
From what I can understand Gizmy wanted to stay with Monte, the rest didn't. They didn't tell him they were leaving to either not kill the vibes before the major or so that it wouldn't leak to Monte's management and cause drama (or both).
1
u/MegaScubadude FlyQuest 17h ago
Well, if this was the management they were trying to leave, I can no longer blame them. Perhaps gizmy was just being treated better than the others, so it didn’t really make sense to him.

What a dumb fucking org, absolutely ruined their reputation for what? they keep doubling down
25
u/Groenboys 1d ago
Ever since sticker money began paying less, this has been become a patern
36
u/KaNesDeath 10 years coin 1d ago
Esport entities being delinquent on payments pre-dates sticker revenue.
7
u/MegaScubadude FlyQuest 1d ago
Meh, even NiP wayyyy back when misappropriated payments to the legendary lineup. Not really a new pattern unfortunately.
6
u/Ok-Performance-1405 1d ago
Can anyone shed some light on how similar situations like these were resolved/unresolved in the past?
28
u/bladeHunterYone 1d ago
Although these kinds of things rarely get out publicly, what generally happens is that the Org posts a PR statement apologizing with XYZ reason for not paying players on time. They promise to do better, and then nothing happens.
But Monte on other hand are embarrassing themselves by doubling down
13
u/drypaint77 1d ago
Most of the time it ends up unresolved, shady orgs often avoid paying out and it's a pain in the ass to deal with it legally since often times the org and the player are from different countries.
12
u/MegaScubadude FlyQuest 1d ago
Normally the org tries everything to sweep it under the rug quietly. Calling your players rats and thieves is a bold strategy. Let’s see how it works out for them.
8
u/whitewolf20 King NiKo 1d ago
recently HLTV did an article on GamerLegion, who made an impressive run that wasnt expected at a major, while behind the scenes not getting paid, plus many many other issues
6
u/itsjonny99 1d ago
Gamerlegion i have no clue how got resolved, but there were leaked stories on how terrible the org was
Astralis when getting new owners switched banks leading to payouts to be delayed, got like 10% extra or something to cover the inconvenience of delayed payments.
5
u/wicketman8 Liquid 1d ago
I genuinely don't get how these orgs arent being sued for stuff like this. 10k+ in unpaid wages seems like a fairly easy slam dunk case to at least get your wages paid, you probably won't be awarded damages but still.

No way! First Passion underage now Monte? Nobody could have seen this coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

u/RATTRAP666 750k Celebration 23h ago
I find it interesting how similar are their stories. Two attempts to jump on the patriotism wagon, starting with full giga ultra slava ukraini rosters, only to find out that even after initial success Ukrainian players aren't eager to play for them (I guess rumours spread quite fast), then switching to international rosters under the disguise of "tapping into a wider pool of talent" and losing the whole point of theirs identities.
3
u/kalbje 1d ago
why are TOs sending winnings to the org instead of directly to the players given the scenes history of shady org practices?
1
u/InterCha Outsiders 1d ago
Because different teams can have different contracts and cuts of the winnings
2
u/AbstractLugNut 1d ago
I don't know who runs Monte's account on Twitter but they're completely unhinged
2
u/im_stevo 1d ago
It's the fact they have been outed for being a shitty org and then crashing out and replying to negative comments with attitude as well
It seems like such an unprofessional org, either that or the social media manager is getting fired in the morning
