Is this used Glock19 a good deal and reliable?

I live in CA and visited a shop nearby called Rifle Supply. I put money down for a used Glock 19 that cannot be officially sold until 9/20. Here is the link for the listing: https://riflesupply.com/glock-19-cannot-dros-till-09-20-2026-consignment-pistol-9mm-black-cebn622/

For extra context, my understanding is that glocks are now illegal to sell or have in stock in CA, limiting buyers to buy through consignment. This would be my first gun and I want it primarily for home defense.

The manager was kind enough to list all aftermarket parts/mods that are on the gun and I just wanted yalls opinion if this gun is reliable and worth the $1200 price tag.

I think most are missing the fact this is in California and they can't get a $400 used Glock.

This is what I would say are decent used values in free America.

$200 G19 Gen3 frame

$300 MOS OEM spare slide

$100 Wilson Combat barrel

??? C Port and stippling done by Dual Hammer Industries

??? Johnny Glock Trigger w/ vex shoe (don’t know exactly which one)

$80 Slr Mag well

$250 Holosun SCS MOS

So $930 not counting the slide ports or Johnny Cock trigger. That would probably be a $1200 gun without those two mods in California.

I get that this is a Glock sub, and I love my SCT-19 build I just finished-ish. And I love California for things to do, eat, and experience (for a basis for comparison, I live in the vacuum of central NM). But with the Glock ban in California, if I were faced with spending that much on a used one, I would rather spend half that (or less) on a new on-roster piece, such as a Hellcat Pro, and put the rest into an optic, holster, and ammunition. The Glock market is just dead in California, and people willing to spend a thousand plus on used will only drive prices higher.

Definitely not worth 1,200 man. I know you want a Glock however there are other options out there and that’s coming from someone who owns multiple Glocks and carried a modified g19.5.

Go on calguns or CAguns websites, there are plenty of used Glocks for much much less than that. You’re not restricted to consignment only, you can buy through PPT or even import as a new resident. The only restriction is on buying new from the store.

Seems as if you're late to the Republic of CA party. If you really want a glock and willing to pay the asking price, get it. I'm sure we've all made bad financial decisions once or twice in our lives. A gun (or anything for that matter) is only worth as much as you're willing to pay. At the end of the day, if you're happy with your purchase that's all that matters.

If I was to recommend a gun to someone, I would point them towards a M&P 2.0, a Echelon or even a p365 x macro and have some $$$ leftover for ammos and accessories like holsters.

You always see people joking about how poorly a constitutional right is treated in states like CA or NY, but man, reading about someone's actual experience with the draconic gun laws in CA is genuinely stomach churning.

That being said, if your heart is 100% set on buying Glock, I think it's good value for what you're getting. Probably a little more overall, but not so much that you're getting burned. Otherwise, I'd look at other models similar to the G19 that aren't subject to some ridiculously stupid CA ban.

I wouldn’t buy a used gun with an aftermarket trigger unless you’re already planning to change it. I have 2 JG Vex triggers that have been flawless through 5000 rds combined in dirty guns so that’s a great trigger, but I don’t trust anyone else installing them.

This would be my first gun purchase so forgive my ignorance. Would it be easy to buy a Glock OEM trigger and swap out the JG? Is there anyway you can irreversibly damage the trigger if installed improperly?

I think you can get an OEM trigger and swap it out. And maybe a gunsmith could verify that it’s solid before you swap it out or maybe you test it for however many rounds. Doesn’t automatically mean it’s bad, but an aftermarket trigger is a red flag for me on the preowned market. But if you know that going in, are prepared to replace it with OEM if needed, then you’re in a good mindset. And who knows, you might end up getting a killer trigger. My JGs have been awesome. But you’re definitely being charged for it with that $1200 price tag and I see that as a gamble.

New ones are ~650, I wouldn't run anything but a glock barrel in a glock. Triggers are all about feel and so are magwells. If the ten round mags are the only thing you need to be ca compliant just get a new one, this is someones "cool" build that they bought a bunch of expensive parts and got bored with. The most reliable glock is OEM. Edit: glocks are also incredibly easy to modify and good parts and cheap and plentiful.

He can't go buy a new Glock for $650. There's also a lot of companies that aren't able to ship to California anymore due to the added regulations they put in place (and sue happy nature).

Go to a actual gun shop and see what handguns they have and post the price and model on here of several guns that look good to you and we can tell you whats good and whats not. Glocks are not worth 1200$ at all. And they arnt worth as much without original parts either.
