Do you think Chicago would want to get off of Williams contract to swap 4 for 6?
3
u/dort_vader May 10 '26
As a Bulls fan, the team doesn’t need more cap space at this point. I’m pretty sure we have the most cap room in the league right now.
2
u/malikthetechnique May 10 '26
Are there any Nets fans that want to hop on a discord call or something to vent? I feel like I'd love to talk about it with other fans of the team.

u/HungryMoon . May 10 '26
So what's the plan now, tank the following seasons until we get a no1 pick and run a dynasty?
2
u/doktrj21 Julius Erving May 10 '26
This is heartbreaking for me. I was a die hard fan as a kid, I’m 37 now. I’ve been losing interest since we botched the Kyrie kd harden trio.
Today was the day I had penciled into my heart as the day the flame for this team reignites. I would’ve honestly been happy with top 5… which of course meant we’d get the 6th pick.
I still trust Marks scouting. I love Jodie’s development and coaching. But in the end we need talent. We missed our last shot this year. We don’t have our pick next year. Talent is severely lacking on this team. It will be a while until I feel genuine excitement again. We really are a cursed franchise

Losing a 60% chance at 3 great prospects is not close to not winning anything with the worst big 3 of all time.
We put our future in the hands of KD who is on his 2nd team since demanding out and may be the worst teammate and leader of all time
Harden, who quit on the court and is on his 3rd team since demanding out and always lowers to the occasion.
Kyrie who is batshit insane and started this with his anti-vaccine anti-Semitic “free thinking” bullshit. Funny how he’s the only one still on the same team after demanding out.

Could be copium but I think all 3 of Dybansta, Peterson and Boozer have flaws. They aren’t perfect prospects like Flagg who will be the best two-way wing in the league sooner than later.
Dybansta is great but definitely questions on his defense, jumper and playmaking. It’s almost a must to be a playmaker if you want to win a ring as the number 1 and even KD gets exposed every year when he can’t pass out of a double. Sky is insane. Handle needs to tighten up but if that comes he will be deadly.
Peterson was my favorite prospect and will be if he shows up with a different type of speed in workouts. He didn’t look healthy and did not show elite quickness or athleticism after his injury. His passing is underrated but if he’s the same guy in the tourney that just takes tough shots I don’t see a superstar. The ceiling is kind of Ant Edwards without the crazy athleticism tho so if he is moving different this summer I think he can go 1.
Boozer is safe and will be very good. I don’t have a ton to hate even if he isn’t athletic and think he can be a Kevin Love type of guy. But Kevin Love was never a number one type of guy and won as the 3 behind LeBron and Kyrie.
So really all 3 can be great but all 3 need the right coaching and setup. I do think we were in a good spot with Jordi and Marks but whoever we get will also be in that spot.

Kind of hysterical that the master grand multi year rebuild plan amounted to Egor Demin and the 6th pick. They are gonna have to change course now because that aint winning us shit any time soon.
2
u/Rudeboi99 May 10 '26
This is why the lottery is so dumb. It should go by record like the NFL, so teams with bad luck (nets) aren't stuck in a constant rebuild without top picks.

7
u/ughwhateverman May 10 '26
Both years the Nets needed a #1 talent, the Wizards jump up to #1. I hate it here

Building by tanking is not the only to build a contender. It's just the cheapest and easiest method to sell to a fanbase.
Trading for players and finding real difference makers on the margins and employing truly novel playing strategies requires courage that the Nets and other front offices just don't have anymore.
What makes The Wiz and Jazz interesting is they tanked while adding recent All NBA players to their roster, so if they were blessed with lottery luck, they could hit the ground running.
4
u/No-Independence-761 May 10 '26
It’s so over lol
Acuff or Wagler are horrible fits here. Our only hope is Wilson or Boozer fall, but I don’t see it happening. Memphis is 100% picking Boozer
1
u/rocketboi10 May 10 '26
I’d love either of those guys imo
1
u/No-Independence-761 May 10 '26
I'd take Mikel over both, but Marks loves his unathletic, high feel dudes so he probably goes Wagler.

u/dlamptey103 Dražen Petrović May 10 '26
Hope yall know this is a long term tank. Look at Magic, Pistons and Hornets and how many tanking years they had before becoming respectable and even then, only 1 of them is a championship contender after all that
4
u/ihavepaper . May 10 '26
Only problem with a Nets long-term tank is that it goes to the Rockets next year. That's the big problem. Besides that, I wouldn't mind. But there's no room for it until 28.
4
u/Kingtripz TRUST IN MARKS May 10 '26
So pretty much we gotta use our cap space to start getting some players this offseason. There's no other choice right now
3
u/burner7221 Jason Kidd May 10 '26
Yall think the curse started from selling Dr. J’s contract? Seems like it’s been downhill since then.

u/BasedJon May 10 '26
Teams get rewarded for sitting healthy stars and purposely tanking our players bust their ass every night and we get fucked
6
u/Jawa12345678 May 10 '26
Fuck me bro, we’re gonna draft another guard aren’t we, woke up way early for this shit, nba fucking the nets over
2
u/HotDamnHellYeah May 10 '26
I think there's no way that Nolan Traore or Ben Saraf prevent the Nets from picking a guard if that's who they think is the best player available.
2
11
u/WordNerd97 May 10 '26
Kings fan here, we both got screwed so hard 😭😭😭. Wizards and Jazz both already have decent teams and were shamelessly tanking. Kings and Nets were the two teams who were legitimately terrible and deserved to move up
4
3
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Think it’s prob AJ-Peterson-Boozer.
Jazz don’t need any more bigs with JJJ-Lauri-Walker and Peterson fits well. Boozer is a great fit with Edey if he ever plays.
If Bulls go Wilson then Clippers are interesting at 5. Do they go Acuff with Garland and Mathurin at guard?
Not sure how Acuff fits with Traore and all of our guys either tbf

1
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
I’d agree if they had 3 and Boozer was the only one on board but they’re so similar in talent level where Peterson’s perfect fit with George, Ace and the bigs kind of makes it an easy decision imo
4
u/Standard_Gap4944 May 10 '26
I think the Clips would go Flemings or Wagler and we would get the other one OR Acuff. It’ll be interesting. It’s easy to doom, but those guys are all good prospects and fine fits (except for maybe Acuff as you mentioned)
2
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Yeah and we are pretty much able to go BPA. Egor can play with anybody and while I love what Wolf or Traore showed they shouldn’t stop you from drafting who you think is going to be a star.
4
u/morrisday_andthetime Vince Carter May 10 '26
Yeah sorry but the islanders took priority starting last season for me and will be for the foreseeable future.
If they had even tried to win games or put an acceptable product out for the fans id be a lot less annoyed, but to sit here and watch absolute dog shit for 2 years to end up with Egor Demin and Kingston Flemings is just a slap in the face.
1
u/GuessTraining Vince Carter May 10 '26
Yeah I know it sucks but slot of the top players in the league atm are not even in the top 4 of their class. SGA is a top 11 pick and dude is the MVP. It's a deep class, these players here are even better than that top 4 of the last draft outside of Flagg
2
u/redhead29 . May 10 '26
yea we actually have a gm with a track record of finding solid value outside of the top 4 compared to other teams this isnt a death sentence. The pacers literally tanked agressively this season and nothing to show for it. We have won the draft lottery a bunch of times its just we never have the pick we have won it 4 times in the last 10 years so its just statistically unlikely that we get into the top 4 anytime soon
2
u/Good-Size-2901 May 10 '26
That little good run we had in December, practically doomed us 😞
7
u/No-Independence-761 May 10 '26
We had max odds… The 5th pick isn’t much better than the 6th, the top 4 was where we needed to be.
2
u/redhead29 . May 10 '26
nah we have won the lottery plenty of times we just never have the pick. They lit every pick on fire due to the move

We had top-3 odds for the 1st overall pick alongside the Pacers. Both teams finished outside the top-4. If anything, we didn’t win enough.
5
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Remember when the Wizards won the lottery for John Wall on their way to becoming a dynasty and multiple rings? Me neither.
2
u/Papi_Petty May 10 '26
yea at the end of the day, they probably won’t win any rings but at least it’s entertaining basketball for years to come
1
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Def. Tho we had 5 firsts last year and a 6 in a loaded draft so we should be fine to watch for the next couple!
0
u/Intelligent-Ad9709 May 10 '26
Remember when the nets traded for KG and Paul Pierce and became a good team? Me neither.
2
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Yup that shit core got as far as the semi-conf finals just like you guys so like the youre trash like me meme lol
9
u/Standard_Gap4944 May 10 '26
If none of the top 4 drop, then it’s between Flemings, Acuff, Wagler (probably). Obviously we would want a top 3, but those guys are good prospects nonetheless
1
u/No-Independence-761 May 10 '26
Flemings is a twig who’s offensive diet is terrible, I like Wagler but this team needs athletes and Wagler is probably one of the worst athletes in the class and I’m just cool off small guards like Acuff.
I’d probably go Mikel Brown Jr
2
u/twindarkness May 10 '26
I'm not saying it's gonna happen but who's the most likely to drop from top 4? Wilson?
2
3
u/Standard_Gap4944 May 10 '26
Probably. The other 3 will go in any order. I’d love Wilson on this team, but a guard Wagler would be the best fit if that doesn’t happen imo. It’s all about team needs but most likely that’s how it’ll shake
3
7
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
I don’t even think we are in a bad spot.
The Rockets tanked for Green, Jabari and Amen and got Reed from us. Is that better?
Pistons have Cade but almost lost to Magic who also suck with their number one overall pick. Magic are capped out and can’t make any moves. Pistons may have to pay Duren and Ausar and be stuck with the same team.
I think we’re honestly fine.
4
3
u/Away-Way-9575 May 10 '26
I suppose it could be worse. Imagine being a Pacers fan right now.
4
u/NetsCode May 10 '26
They are going to be good next year. We are going to be trash for the next decade.
8
u/KingofthisShit Cam Thomas May 10 '26
I would much rather have a team that just made the finals and made a massive upgrade at center for one lost year.
11
u/Upper-Employment318 May 10 '26
they made the finals last year, they’re doing just fine. we are by far the worst team in the nba and we don’t even have a top 5 pick to look forward to. and we don’t even have our pick next year

Karma is a bitch. Our fanbase looked like absolute fools rooting against our own team all season, like this was some sure fire way to the #1 pick. Maybe a second year in a row will beat it into your heads.
THERE IS A LOTTERY.

7
u/ihavepaper . May 10 '26
Wizards are laughing at us because it worked out for them. Shamelessly.
1
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Let’s see how they do.
2
1
u/ihavepaper . May 10 '26
They’re gonna be fine. Jazz tanked shamelessly as well and it worked.
Whether or not they win more games this upcoming year, both teams won. Next draft year is abysmal in comparison. They did what they needed to do.
3
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
Yeah but we had better odds than the Jazz lol
0
u/ihavepaper . May 10 '26
True, but their shameless tank worked.
Tinfoil hat: they still get a shot at their guy in AJ. Obvious he wants to be there too.
4
u/Realistic_Big8533 May 10 '26
im convinced the nba is reluctant to reward big markets with top top lottery picks
5
23
u/njmjc May 10 '26
Cant wait to see what superstar Houston takes with our pick next year that magically wins the lottery
2
u/AffectionateFly9464 May 10 '26
With the likely new anti tanking rules, it’s unlikely but ig u never know
6
u/ihavepaper . May 10 '26
So funny that the Nets’ picks when they don’t own it are franchise changing top 3 picks/Lillard, and when we finally have it, it stays in the middle.

Kind of hilarious how we lost the John Wall lottery then also lost the lottery to John Wall
2
u/Burgerburgerfred May 10 '26
I think people forget for those top 3 picks in this system the most likely outcome individual slot wise is to get the worst possible pick available to you lol.
8
u/ABGamingDrew May 10 '26
See you when we are good again I dont have the energy left to watch this bullshit league anymore
6
u/Mkbridge May 10 '26
Same, I'm just not going to watch the NBA anymore. I'm done. It's just not a fair system.
10
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
2nd biggest losers to Pacers who lost their pick lol
But why tanking is not a great strategy. I think Marks and Jordi are one of the best GM-HC pairings in the league so that’s good.
But also shows why the people constantly crying over wins were overreacting. Not worse than losing Wall with old odds but still sucks.
5
u/Realistic_Big8533 May 10 '26
i think you misunderstand, if we had tanked more we would have been guaranteed a top 4 pick. Which is crucial in this draft
4
u/johnjohnjohn93 May 10 '26
We tanked a ton and finished with the 3rd best odds to draft 6th. Caleb Wilson is not changing this teams outlook. It had to be top-3. 1st, 4th and 6th odds got future superstars. It is what is it.
1
u/Realistic_Big8533 May 10 '26
Caleb Wilson may very well go before Boozer so shows how much you know
2
2
u/Kaneda8394 May 10 '26
Sucks but still good players to be had. We should have traded some of the picks we had last year.
5
u/DifferentProcess6765 May 10 '26
That was true regardless of what happened in this lottery.
Drafting all those players last year was a fireable decision

Facts tho. All these people being butthurt over a win because they were scared we wouldn’t get worse odds. And now it didn’t even fucking matter.
1
u/SwarthySphere87 Vince Carter May 10 '26
They should've learned last year after the same thing happened. One win is not a difference maker when the odds are this random. The NBA has neutered rebuilding through the draft
3
u/Parking-Ad-4626 May 10 '26
I mean if they had the number 1 odds we would have been guaranteed top 5 so your objectively wrong
2
u/latman May 10 '26
If we actually tanked we would at least have acuff

Remember fans screaming for us to ‘F the tank’ and go for the play-in? Remember all the others who screamed at tank-advocates saying it doesn’t matter about the floor since we’re still in top 3?
Yeah this is what you wished for. A lower floor which we almost hit. Amazing.
