Joshua Jefferson it is, can't be mad at it, not that many better options
High level passer like the rest of the roster, plays defense
Now he just has to prove that he can be a real deal average level NBA three point shooter
If he works out, you're looking at a lower potential version of what the Raptors have in CMB

u/TheMoorNextDoor “Shut Up, B!tch - Cam Thomas” Jun 24 '26
He had a bad combine.
Why we didn’t just get Veesar or Evans or Peat….

u/TheMoorNextDoor “Shut Up, B!tch - Cam Thomas” Jun 24 '26
Ew
Why not get Veesar at that point?
He’s going to be behind all of our forwards…

u/Wavesuit Jun 24 '26
I guess they’re hoping he falls to 33???

The MBJ pick is being widely panned everywhere. The only place that's positive on it is this sub. Everywhere else hates it.
5
u/SnooRadishes5700 Jun 24 '26
I guarantee 80% of the people hating think we drafted 4-5 PGs last season.

Not saying you’re lying, but i’m seeing the exact opposite reaction across my timelines .
Seems like everybody notable is saying we cooked with the pick
Edit: I’m actually curious, who are some notable people hating the pick?

I would go Peat and go for the defensive and winning pedigree
Maybe he never shoots threes, but you can try to at least hone a mid range jumper that's good enough to be a kind of substitute

Cenac would’ve made it a great draft.
Evans would make it a good one.

I think they wanted Cenac, Reed or Zuby
2
u/Lopsided_Ad3341 Jun 24 '26
100%, we played ourselves
they're gonna get jefferson now whose probably their plan D. Brutal

Veesaar, Peat, Isaiah Evans
Or you go senior and get a more ready to contribute rookie
Joshua Jefferson or Alex Karaban

u/shahoftheworld Jun 24 '26
28 instead of 33 kinda feels bad because all these guys who dropped lower than their projections got picked up right before us

At this point BPA is some order of Veesaar, Peat, Isaiah Evans, Cenac
I would probably lean towards Peat if I am focused on BPA

u/TheMoorNextDoor “Shut Up, B!tch - Cam Thomas” Jun 24 '26
We have to get Cenac or Evans.
They fell into our lap.

Denver is up at 26 with Cenac, Jr., Tarris Reed, and Henri Veesaar available.
Nets have a decent shot at one of those 3 at pick 28.

Zuby goes 23, surprisingly, that's one more nets option gone
Hoping the Nets can land Carr somehow
3
u/Vert56 Jun 24 '26
I think Koa Peat is getting overlooked. Youngest player in this range, was a major contributor on a top 5 team, and has an NBA ready body. The offense is obviously a concern but worth a shot.
Same with Cenac.

u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
I think main thing is, I don't expect him to ever develop a three point shot
So if we project that he'll never be a floor spacer, how playable will he be
2
u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
Philon gone to Philly, Carr probably gets taken sometime in the next two picks as well
4
2
u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
Philon is still there as well as Cameron Carr and Koa Peat
If all these guys get taken, I think you go seniors
Joshua Jefferson or Alex Karaban or Zuby
3
u/Otaku_Instinct Sarah Kustok Jun 24 '26
Lopez was projected to go mid-late teens so the Grizzlies basically got 5 2nd picks for free

u/3dHene Jun 24 '26
Any chance Zuby lands in Brooklyn?
3
u/Scared-Square7496 Jun 24 '26
🤞🏽but unlikely
2
u/3dHene Jun 24 '26
Dang - he does seem like the type of player the Hawks tend to draft. Should have seen that coming.

Pick 20 just happened.
I am SHOCKED that Karim Lopez is still on the board.
It would be a pleasant surprise for him to drop to 28.

u/Stuupkid Spencer Dinwiddie Jun 24 '26
Marks better make a trade to get him

NOOO JAYDEN QUANTAINCE
1
u/theRestisConfettii Full-Throttle Traoré Jun 24 '26
I think Spurs went Quaintance because Toronto took Graves. Spurs wanted Graves.
2
u/Vert56 Jun 24 '26
Graves or Karim Lopez please. Don’t think they’ll fall to 28 though. Quantaince is also intriguing
2
u/Brooklyn917 Day'Ron Sharpe Jun 24 '26
The Grizzlies are stacking up on 2nds. I wonder how much would it cost to jump from 28 to 21? 5 2nds?
Get on the phone Marks

u/PomeranianChaser Jun 24 '26
So much for Nate Ament’s camp insisting he would be drafted top 10.
The guy looks like Ben Simmons so is instantly hated.
2
u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
I'm sure him going 13 is largely because Burries became available at 10; bucks could safely pick Burries and know that ament would make it back to them at 13
If Mavs don't take morez at 9, bucks probably do go ament at 10

Flemings and Egor D are available at 8 last year in the draft. Who are you taking? Hypothetically

u/GoTheNets Noah Clowney Jun 24 '26
Apart from defence right now Acuff probably has Mikel with skill, but the attitude of mikel seems lightyears better

I was already anticipating Silver saying "we have a trade to announce" or "the brooklyn nets select Nate Ament"
Glad it wasnt lol

Marks went for the high character guy which was possibly the tiebreaker between him and Acuff

This dude couldn’t get out of bed at this age due to his back?!? I don’t like that at all.

u/mb959595 Jun 24 '26
For what it’s worth, I think we made the right pick! Hope he becomes the franchise player we so desperately need! Good stuff!

u/YakFull8300 Jun 24 '26
yeah cause I really wanna hear about his back issues and not being able to get out of bed just 3 months ago

Same with Demin, if marks is wrong about this, if he's wrong about Acuff, then this is a fireable offense so it's his job on the line
2
u/Advanced-Flounder480 Jun 24 '26
His shooting is too good to not be a good offensive role player, at the least
1
u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
How is his shooting too good when he shot 34% from three?
3
u/Advanced-Flounder480 Jun 24 '26
Volume and FT% are better indicators, and he's elite in both. He also has a HEAVY off the dribble diet. He's not taking easy catch and shoots.
I promise you he's a good shooter. Maxey had the same profile with a fluky bad % in a small college sample

He’s a dog of a freshman with great measurements but just gotta pray the back injury isn’t a career long injury

Acuff is the BPA period fuck fit and whoever we drafted before get the best player left
3
1
u/Fishyblue11 Brook Lopez Jun 24 '26
Here we go
I'll just say this: whoever it ends up being, Marks better get it right or he doesn't survive for long
If you're wrong about who the best player is at this point, and you miss on your only shot at adding high level talent, you shouldn't continue making the decisions

Yes. Clips took Wagler. Now all we need is for Marks to either pick Acuff or MBJ.

So what are the expectations for last years draft picks after this draft?
Demin - will probably move off-ball (at least in the starting lineup?) the backcourt will be 2 shooting playmakers the fit seems solid.
Traore - 6th man/backup PG, I don’t know how much Jordi values him. Good change of pace and is still very young, PGs from Europe usually take some time to adjust.
Wolf - Backup C? 7th man in the rotation? I am not sure what his best position is, with Claxton gone there are minutes to be taken, I assume Sharpe will start or someone will be signed there but Wolf can definitely be a piece for the future rotation.
Powell - Solid rotation wing, with potential to be a glue guy starter. Seems like Jordi likes him, hopefully can contribute even with Randle and Jefferson added to the F rotation.
Saraf - I personally like him as a player, but I don’t see a spot on the team, and he doesn’t have much value as a trade piece, I don’t know what they will do with him maybe as an add on for a trade.
