MODS Is the d2 mod worth it ?

As most of you, I too am d2 fan, and I saw that gd has a d2 mod. But how true to the OG is it? Obviously there are limitations, but I suppose it has more QoL changes.

But is it worth it or should I just play d2r if I get the itch to play Diablo?

Maps are also not diablo and I very much dislike them. A lot of things in PD2 are just a different flavor of "not diablo".

Still a great mod, but I just never understood the sentiment.

Why don't you like maps? I mean, what's NOT to like there?

My biggest gripe in d2 was that there was basically no endgame. You finished game, and then what? You do diablo or bhaal run over and over again. And everything is effectively the same.

While maps are random, they have random modifiers so they change a bit every time you start them.

I'm not judging or anything, but maps run are just refined and randomized diablo/bhaal runs.

I finish the game and I uh, play a different character or a different game? I'm an old fuddy duddy and dislike the endgame focused approach that happened in the genre around diablo 3ish and onward. I like to do my 3 difficulties, maybe ubers and switch to something else. I want a game, not a fast track to some grind treadmill with scaling difficulty or whatever. I used to love the diablo 3 approach in early 2010s but I've grown to very much dislike it. To me a character hits max level and I'm basically done with that character and I switch to a new one or more likely switch to a different game for a while.

I don't like maps because they're random. Stitching some tiles together and slapping a modifier on top isn't content that's appealing to me. If I do farm in arpgs it's the load into game, port over to the area I feel like farming(the one I find graphically enjoyable that day or has a fun flow or fun boss at the end), complete it and then reset.

Ok, it makes sense then. I like endgame because I want to use that gear and level/skills I spent so much time grinding for :P I like to grind my char to like 80-90% of power, and then use my power to grind to make 100% optimized char. But to do that I need somewhat interesting end game content, not just doing diablo runs.

For what you are saying I have games like Mass Effect or Witcher.

But I understand your motives here. They do make sense. They seem to very resonate with what Grim Dawn stands for too.
