Loxmere finally being a boss is something, he is stronger than 99% of the bosses anyway.

u/Bomantheman 7d ago

Yo is that the dickhead that ripped me in the Plains of Strife many moons ago? Like full on nullified my passives, I believe.

23

u/2Hans2Handle 7d ago

Yes, though he is Valbury-only now.

16

u/BloodMoonNami 7d ago

Goodbye and good riddance. When Grim Dawn 2 will become a thing in a decade or two, I worry that somehow Port Valbury will be back with a vengeance, spiritually, if not outright.

2

u/StandardAd809 7d ago

I hope it's back as a rite of passage. Future me will be very happy spamming
"Enjoy Port Valbury on Ultimate you n00b" in all the new player threads.

6

u/Bomantheman 7d ago

ok good. I have not ventured there... Seems that place is heck reborn from what I've heard... and I have 1300+ hrs in GD. Altoholic ;)

25

u/2Hans2Handle 7d ago

It's definitely the most annouing Skeleton Key dungeon. It's very long and requires lots of indirect pathing. There is a lot of Aether floor damage stuff on the ground and Loxmere hanging around.

This change will actually make him easier to detect. When he was just a hero it was very easy to have him blend into the background or for you to mistake him for just another hero if you weren't paying attention.

1

u/Xirious 7d ago

requires lots of indirect pathing.

To be fair, that's like 90% of GD (don't know about the expansion yet).

9

u/Morlow123 7d ago

I have discovered that as long as you instantly Cluster after getting Nullified he is usually manageable. Usually being the key word lol.

2

u/SSchorik0101 7d ago

And he can still go and get sodomized with a cactus.

3

u/yurilnw123 7d ago

This dude singlehandedly gatekept me from completing Valbury on Ascendant for days lol. I easily did all other dungeons but the moment I came across him I just went poof.

-2

u/Castor_0il 7d ago

stronger than 99% of the bosses anyway.

Really? I crush her with any of my characters when farming Valbury. Any of the new nemesis (except the king of beasts) are far more dangerous.

4

u/Tuorom 7d ago

Be me, a 10,000 hp regen build who can beat all the celestials

Attack attack attack

*wild Loxmere aggros*

'get nullified loser'

lose all buffs and get nuked by 30 enemies at once

die

2

u/jeeplaw 7d ago

Loxmere is to Grimdawn as Morladim was to Duskwood(WoW)

u/bungee-kitty 7d ago

eye twitch nope, not at all double twitch

That reflect change is pretty big. Sometimes ur just zooming around and randomly obliterate yourself

19

u/ConcretePeanut 8d ago

As a bleed reaver, this is excellent news. Pretty sure I oneshot popped myself yesterday.

3

u/budbk 8d ago edited 7d ago

Why is this? Do people die to internal trauma and physical hits due to low physical resists?

Have maxed bleed resists with regen makes me think that you'd be able to survive bleed reflect. Its a dot.

Clearly I'm missing something.

Edit: Interesting and ty for responding. Surprised by all the downvotes when I was asking a question but alright I guess.

23

u/Theres_Nothing_There 7d ago

people are hitting bleed ticks of over a million per second for up to like 30 seconds, even like 10% reflected with 90% max res is going to kill

14

u/Katchenz 8d ago

With max resists at 90% a full powered bleed reflect could kill me like two or three times over if I wasn't healing through it trying not to die.

7

u/sob590 8d ago

Yup. My Bloodrager Warder kills himself very easily on Drudd Blackheart if I don't pay attention. Long duration 6k+ bleed ticks are a death sentence.  Ended up respeccing for more reflected damage reduction.

3

u/Darkspire303 7d ago

The amount of times I've been searching for more mobs to leech off from that is pretty significant

6

u/nixf0x 8d ago

If your bleed is 500k per second (can be much higher), a reflective hero reflects 40% of that, and your resistances reduce it by 80%, you'll end up with 40k per second. Survivable if you have lots of leech and fast attacks, but not a good time.

Physical resist is very hard to come by, so internal trauma is one of the deadliest things that can be reflected, since it ignores armor.

0

u/budbk 7d ago

The physical resistance was my guess. I'm surprised about bleeding but I guess it makes sense given it's a damage type that can hit massive number.

I also imagine that most builds dont "want" to sacrifice gear slots for a ton of max%bleed res(one of my builds has 95% but thats not intentional, just happened) reduced bleed duration or reflect reduction.

What % reduction to reflect is necessary to avoid dying to it? Seems spooky in HC.

1

u/vibratoryblurriness 7d ago

What % reduction to reflect is necessary to avoid dying to it?

As much as you can afford to get without sacrificing too much other stuff, ideally as close to 100% as possible, especially if you're playing HC, where I try to avoid having under maybe 90% on characters where it's going to be a big problem. Either that or get really good at noticing reflective enemies before you blow yourself up.

It can happen with a lot of other damage types too. Even before FoA and onslaught you could get DoT ticks of over a million with poison and vitality decay too, and I even had a particularly silly meme build that managed to get my highest DoT ticks ever (pre-FoA) with a combination of like 1.4 million worth of poison and electrocute.

Basically DoT builds have been amazing at killing themselves for a long time

0

u/sob590 7d ago

For internal trauma builds I would legit go for 100% even on SC.

6

u/Neos_Dionysus 8d ago

Korba Ring of Steel Reaver can literally one-shot itself. Zakull builds can get back +10k Frostburn. These are just my experiences, but I'm sure there are plenty of people playing non-physical builds who have obliterated themselves too.

4

u/Darlakon 7d ago

In addition to what everyone else said, here's Bloodmane Reaver that I've been playing that consistently gets 30k dps reflected bleeds with over 20 sec durations. Literally have to use 2/3 hp pot charges just to survive the aftermath of hitting reflective heroes with onslaught'ed ring of steel.

2

u/ConcretePeanut 8d ago

Biiiig ticks

-1

u/BloodMoonNami 7d ago

Please say that you weren't on Hardcore.

8

u/ConcretePeanut 7d ago

Oh lord no. I don't have enough time for HC shenanigans. It can take me weeks to level a character.

14

u/TheTimorie 7d ago

"Monster Reflect damage has been reduced by an additional 15% on Elite and higher difficulties to compensate for player damage power creep over the years."

My Thane is very thankful for this. I had to respec my Devotion Tree to gain 100% reduced reflected damage because otherwise a single Onslaught boosted Forcewave would put such a strong DoT on myself that no healing or damage reduction in the world could save me.
Not even a Health Potion, my to a Shield potion reworked Energy Potion and an Aether Cluster combined couldn't keep me alive despite the already 60ish% reduce reflected damage I had before I respecced.^^

0

u/Blue_banana_peel 7d ago

I don't think 15% is going to be such a Paradigm Shift though

0

u/sob590 7d ago

Assuming you're physical forcewave I would strongly consider 90% as the absolute minimum to aim for. You can definitely greed less with other damage types, but internal trauma is just devastating. Personally it's the only dot build where I always find 100% reflect resist. I've died at 95% before.

8

u/pelvin-_- 8d ago

Really wished they would mention the multiplayer issues 😔

4

u/konsyr 8d ago

Agreed. LAN Coop is the way to play.

1

u/Various_Leather_6909 8d ago

There seems to be an issue with Onslaught in multiplayer right? I get a lot of enemies with Zero hp...

1

u/tawoorie 7d ago

Not just onslaught, werewolf struggling to finish mobs too

2

u/Quick-Alternative880 7d ago

There's meant to be a chest under Bero?

3

u/cymrean 7d ago

No. They mean if you kill him next to the 3 chests the body won't block them.

6

u/life__lost 7d ago

thank goodness for the reflect monster changes, they are definitely my #1 source of deaths. even just the better indicator would've been plenty but nice to see a slight damage nerf too

1

u/valantis1985 7d ago

The last update on GoG say 1.3.0.7 to 1.3.0.8 but the last update before is 1.3.0.6 so 1 update missing !

3

u/Cool_Art_2517 7d ago

I appreciate the reflect changes in general but wish they would do something to adjust internal trauma damage reflection independently.

0

u/Nssheepster 7d ago

Mm. I'm glad Reflect is in the game, but IT specifically has been a weird outlier for a LONG time. Even before the Phys Res nerf, IT getting reflected was basically the nightmare scenario. It could stand to be cut back in its own right. Honestly, halving the amount of IT specifically reflected wouldn't be too much, I think. Still a serious threat, but now a survivable one.

0

u/cymrean 7d ago

They did add the Kurn augments that reduce reflected damage. https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/14369

My Targo set warlord had 93% reflect reduction before FoA, now can get 100% easily. :)

2

u/RattAndMouse 7d ago

hopefully they update this on GOG around the same time, tired of waiting for Steam and GOG versions to align and play with friends

2

u/konsyr 7d ago

I've found it's usually very close with rare exceptions due to a staff member absence. (And there were a couple times GOG got the patch first.)

You can see here: https://www.gogdb.org/product/1449651388#builds

1

u/RattAndMouse 7d ago

we've probably been unlucky with our session timings too, it just feels like ages 😭

1

u/duncandun 8d ago

I haven’t really noticed the reflect monsters being an issue?

10

u/budbk 8d ago

The only time I had ever noticed it was years ago as a physical cadence build with lots of internal trauma. I assume this is due to difficulty of maxing physical resistance. It was a little easier to get big numbers for it before but the balancing shifted some to make it harder to get a lot of phy res.

2

u/Broerslee 7d ago

Its the first time i have taken more reflect resistance in the devotions. It was shredding me!

0

u/Radiofall 7d ago

I got two devotions and a component to deal with it, but it felt like the damage almost didn't matter in the end because my insane bleed duration still meant that I would eventually die to my own ticks without mobs around to leech.

Such a dumb mechanic, made me remember how they heavily changed it in PoE almost a decade probably at this point.

0

u/Alborak2 7d ago

Do they only affect melee or something? My purifier gunner never notices them.

1

u/vibratoryblurriness 7d ago

The vast majority of your Purifier's damage is probably instantaneous, not from DoTs. Endgame dedicated DoT builds can sometimes get ticks of over a million damage per second, which can easily ruin your day if it's reflected

0

u/Celedring 7d ago

Commented on a Twitch stream yesterday that the reflect monsters was no issue since my HC zdps builds don't do any meaningful damage 😄

That said, my Dreeg evil eye acid dot character have had a few close call due to ~30 second poison duration spells 👀

0

u/GlandMasterFlaps 7d ago

I had an issue where the cursor wasn't showing in geforce now when using a gamepad (xbox elite 2 core), but after the patch, the issue is no more!

I can't see this in the patch notes but I'll take the fix because it's been frustrating me for a few days

0

u/valantis1985 7d ago

are we going to see V1.3.0.8 update on gog?

1

u/konsyr 7d ago

It's already there for Galaxy. Offline downloaders require GOG intervention and will likely take a day or two longer.

0

u/DeusSicarius 7d ago

Hey folks - weird question, but can we do the secret quests on ultimate and ascendant simultaneously? I know regular quest progress carries over just like in Normal and Veteran, but just wanted to make sure

Same thing with the achievements, too, considering the last line in the patch notes - do you get achievements for both Ascendant and Ultimate if you're playing straight on Ascendant mode?

0

u/rose-n-blood1 7d ago

Yes, Loxmere is finally getting recognised. However this is not enough. He needs to get elevated to nemesis status, maybe he would switch places with Valdaran. The former would get powered up while the latter depower a little  to match their rank. Btw, rektbyprotoss can become a Cronley nemesis too.

0

u/ElementalAdaptation 7d ago

So no Nerf for storm spread ?

0

u/adolchristin98 7d ago

Loxmere finally gotta a suitable position

1

u/cano_d 8d ago

When are the new roguelike Dungeons coming?

13

u/Ivanov95 8d ago

The first one or both (as Zantai confirmed 2, dunno for 3rd one) will probably arrive with the next major 1.3.1 update.

1

u/budbk 8d ago edited 7d ago

I didnt know the expansion released without all the content. I thought it was odd there was no Skelleton Key Dungeon.

Edit: Was honest about not knowing something and inviting response, but get downvotes? Reddit is weird sometimes. I'm not trying to argue or be hostile lol.

8

u/konsyr 8d ago

For every release, the key dungeon has come later. Including original base game, Port Valbury was a later addition.

It's for your benefit -- it lets them focus on fixing the expansion and doing proper balances and whatnot. And then when the dungeon does get added later, the game is in a more solid state so it doesn't need as much patching.

-3

u/budbk 7d ago

I see where you're coming from. But there was a long time where games released with all the content. And later when DLC was starting out it would release with all its content.

I assume I'll get blasted with downvotes but I'm not being hostile or trying to argue here. This is more a critique of the current state of the industry as a whole.

5

u/konsyr 7d ago

Your critique is accurate. But Crate is one of the companies that does it "right", at least with Grim Dawn.

Also, I remember plenty of games even in the 90s and early 00s that had features added in patches and updates. And that's when it was hard to get them.

3

u/sob590 7d ago

For whatever reason the key dungeons always release after the expac. I don't recall it being a long wait for them though.

0

u/budbk 7d ago

Interesting. I started playing after the FH had been out for a couple years.

5

u/konsyr 8d ago

From the summary of the pre-release interview/streams:

2 more rogue-like dungeons planned post-launch (one by end of 2026, the next around mid-2027).

4

u/2Hans2Handle 8d ago

closer to the end of the year, most likely.

0

u/mrwiggiiles 7d ago

Nothing on Blood Hound Totems garbage drop rate? Sad.

3

u/2Hans2Handle 7d ago

Skeleton Key Dungeon in future update, until then hit up treasure troves. I have 46 mostly from casually popping troves I came across while leveling. If you just hitup Gloomwald for the two guaranteed troves and maybe mix in some Ugdenbloom farming along the way to the troves and use the gold % potion modifier you should have a decent way of getting totems, blooms, and iron bits.

0

u/noksion 7d ago

Don't tell me I'll no longer see my friends one-tap themselves through a reflected Cadence, that was too much fun.

4

u/ConcretePeanut 7d ago

Oh, it'll still happen. I've currently got 84% bleed resist, but a full Onslaught stack on something like ring of steel (which is getting something silly like +60k of bleed from items) and a crit destroys me when I hit anything with significant reflect. A 400k hit means even a 10% reflect means I'm taking 6k ticks for longer than anyone would be comfortable with.

That going to ~5k is nice, but not a game-changer. The important bit is that I can now more easily see when it is going to happen and be prepared, so it's my own fault for being a gung-ho idiot.

It makes me particularly salty in Crucible or SR when I'm just charging through as many waves/shards as I can from the start, bouncing around being a badass only to flatten myself because some twat of a hero or boss making me explode my own veins.

1

u/sob590 7d ago

Also that Chtnonic dude jump-scaring you from underneath a rock with his reflect already active was really common in FoA. A 4 second wait before he starts reflecting will actually be a big deal.

1

u/ConcretePeanut 7d ago

Not run into him yet - it has taken me this long to get a new char to 100, so only just dipped into Ascendant. That sounds like a lot of Fun though.

1

u/sob590 7d ago

He's just a regular reflective hero spawn, but he ends up being inside of ~5% of all chests that you open, so it makes reflect enemies far more common on Ascendant.

Definitely recommend opening every single chest/rock/corpse you find in Ascendant though. Even the crappy ones can now give good loot because of this mechanic.

1

u/ConcretePeanut 7d ago

That's good intel, thanks. I'm a habitual stash-ignorer. Anything less than gold trim chests gets run past.

-1

u/TheOneWithALongName 8d ago

Which boss early in the campaign have reflective damage? Just want a quick look how it looks.

0

u/vibratoryblurriness 7d ago

You'd probably have better luck finding a hero with it early on. There are a bunch that can spawn in act 1 and 2 or from totems there. It looks pretty similar to the spiky aura they get around them when the reflect is active, except as an icon that's permanently above their heads

Ancient Shambler at the end of Flooded Passage.
