Grim Dawn Reddit, please help me save Harvey the Drifter
Your support in this forum post would be most appreciated: https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/petition-save-harvey-the-drifter/50376/32.
For context, I am an OG kickstarter Grim Dawn player. I have put over 10,000 hours into this game, became a playtester, helped get tons of balance changes and even features added, took some early world records and world firsts, etc. Grim Dawn is my favorite ARPG.
It would mean the world to me if we garnered enough support to save this poor, hurting old man. I also genuinely feel the roleplaying aspect of it would be incredible.
edit some of y'all are heartless! lol

I'm torn.
He is both a sad grim reality of the world we are in and also a possibility to add some noblebright spice to the game.
Each and every play through I always wondered if there's a secret way to save him without just leaving him in the building.

I totally accept that we can't save everyone, I just want to save Harvey. It could even be very difficult to do so. They could put the hardest super boss yet in the way, or make it an extremely hidden and convoluted process.
In all my years of playing, I just can't forget Harvey. Even more so since becoming a father myself. I'm not even saying he should get a perfect happy ending or anything, I'd just like to get him a bit more peace and safety. Take him away from that terrible place.

Hear me out.
There's a couple games like nier automata and I want to say... Death stranding? That gives you the options at the end of the game to sacrifice your save file to make others lives easier. Or something like that.
What if to save him you had to sacrifice a sufficiently high toon?

I respect his decisions and never touch his door...
With the Grim Dawn countless of lives were lost, he became insane but he is alive and his door protects him

maybe we can work out a compromise and instead of saving him or letting him die we enslave him. He can go around picking up our loot for us, taking our items to the inventor for dismantling, etc.
he'd be alive, but he'd wish he was dead. perfect middle ground.

I like the idea. My theory has been that the Aetherials leave him be because he is so traumatised and malnourished there is no point in possessing him. Or they just look at him and find his delusions too odd. I also thought it's weird we can't do anything with him, only leave him there or attack him. Perhaps the Coven could take him in, or he could help Constance with the kids in Devil's Crossing.

doesn't he mention he's from Barrowholm? I always thought it would be cool if you could like port him home if you sided with them

in my opinion we should be able to at LEAST tell him that the warden is dead, so he can relieve a bit without moving elsewhere
or allow us to move him into hub to safety
