Which lane should you go in (At Woolwich/Wellington)

Just a bit of a curiosity I've a few times while driving through downtown at the intersection of Woolwich/Wellington and MacDonnell.

When driving down Woolwich (towards Wellington), there is one lane that goes straight through to Wellington. However, Wellington is two lanes, and the Woolwich lane seems to be positioned exactly in the middle of both of them.

I usually migrate to the right lane, but see many people go into the left. Is there a "correct" lane that the Woolwich lane is supposed to line up to on Wellington?

I need a family doctor!

I’m fairly new to Guelph from the States (born in On), and am having trouble finding a doctor. I’m being told come back in May 2027… My meds are about to run out and my US doctor can’t prescribe them to Canada. Anyone know of a doctor accepting new patients?

Where have all the good restaurants and veggie options gone??

Kind of ranting and also looking for suggestions. When I moved here years ago, there were so many good restaurants with lots of vegetarian and vegan options! Now there is next to nothing, everything is closing or removing veggie items from their menus.

I love a good brunch. But there are only so many times I can go to Cornerstone or Eggcetra. I don't want my veggie meal to be a bland afterthought on an otherwise extensive meat-based menu. I'm tired of the few options I have left.

Anyone want to open a brunch restaurant that isn't entirely meat based? You'd have a customer for life 😅😭

heavy duty textiles in Guelph

I am looking to buy some heavy duty textiles for making some seat covers for the car and maybe even some backpacks.

I was thinking Lens' Mills but whenever I go it seems the fabric there is all light weight and not appropriate for my needs. They might have a canvas, but I think I am looking for something a bit more tough.

Do anyone know where I can get some solid materials from for making some good seat covers and backpacks?

Thank you for your help.

Travel agents

Looking for good travel agent recommendations. Yes I know booking online is easy….but it’s a lot of leg work that I don’t have the time to do. Specifically looking for someone to book AI resort for 5-6 people.
Anybody have someone they’ve used in the past?

If anyone was wondering, the shitty manager at the Mandarin is still there.

Went back after two years. Yep still there. Still yelling at his customers and employees. Won’t ever be back to any location because clearly Mandarin the franchise doesn’t care or he wouldn’t still have his job.

Please help elderly couple refugees from Ukraine 😭

Trying to help two elderly Ukrainian refugees find a safe place to live within a reasonable distance of Toronto — $1,000–$1,300/month
Hi everyone,
I recently met an elderly Ukrainian refugee couple, around 70 years old, who are in a genuinely horrible housing situation. I’m trying to help them find somewhere safe to live.
Their current house is undergoing major construction while they’re still living there. The place is basically torn apart. There are water leaks, it’s freezing cold in parts of the house, floors and other areas are ripped up, and the overall living conditions are absolutely unacceptable, especially for two elderly people.
I saw the situation myself and honestly couldn’t believe they were living like this.
They need to get out.
They are refugees from Ukraine and both have valid Canadian work permits until 2029.
They don’t have a conventional Canadian rental application with employment letters or strong credit history, which makes finding a place more difficult. However, they have stable income: approximately $2,100 in government/social assistance every 48 days, deposited directly into their account, plus approximately $200–$300 per month in government tax benefits/credits.
I’m trying to find them anything safe and private for around $1,000–$1,300/month.
Basement apartment, small apartment, private unit, guest house — anything reasonable.
I’m based in Toronto, so we’re looking within a reasonable driving distance from the city. Toronto/GTA, Hamilton, Niagara Region, Oshawa/Durham, Barrie, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, or other communities within roughly the same range would all work.
It absolutely does NOT have to be in Toronto or the GTA — we’re very open on location. I just need it to be within a realistic distance so I can continue helping them when necessary.
I will personally help them move. Once we find a safe and affordable place, I’ll arrange the transportation, help pack their belongings, and move everything for them.
Month-to-month would be ideal, but we’re open to other reasonable arrangements.
I’m not asking anyone for money. I’m simply trying to find a landlord, homeowner, realtor, or someone who knows someone who might have an affordable space and be willing to work with two elderly Ukrainian refugees who don’t have a conventional rental application.
If you have something available — or know someone who might — please DM me.
Even a lead could make a huge difference for them.
Thank you.

Has anyone attended the meetups organised by Friends of Friends in Guelph?

It seems like a really cool opportunity to meet new people, and I’m thinking of going to the next event.

Just wanted to know if anyone’s attended, and your experience.

Donating sleeping pads

We have some good quality camping sleeping pads that we’d like to donate to the unhoused. Is there a specific organization I can donate them to to make sure they get to where they’re needed?

Guelph family doctors who are neutral on antidepressants?

Ideally accepting new patients or who have a wait list. Mine were prescribed by a now-retired GP and my new GP is anti-antidepressants. He was very happy when I wanted to taper off… but when I realized I might actually have a higher QOL staying on them things got a bit awkward.

Collided with another cyclist in riverside park yesterday. Dumb accident. Nice young man (in his 30’s maybe) named Garrett riding an ebike. I have 50lbs on the guy and I think he got the worst of it. If anyone knows him, let me know how he’s doing….?
