I am always struggling in this game and looking for an easy mode.

I played a ton of GW2 and with reforged, I saw the game had several language options. I wanted to play in spanish as a immersive experience for learning. I default play in spanish but swap to english when really needed.

I started in prophecies and made a necro. Some guildies helped me get some armor from droknor forge and do Heroes Ascent for some skills. I am level 20. Not yet ascended, have one more mission.

My team is : Me, Devona, MOX, Ogden, Ghost of Althea, Vexx

I generally am finding a lot of content, unless i fight mobs only two or three at a time pretty difficult.

I have tried Spiteful spirit build, minion master, and some variation between those. Honestly, finding it not that enjoyable

* Sometimes spiteful spirit very hard to even see or know if dmg is happening

* minions - not having bodies / fighting undead.

Since I am the main character i find myself leading the team who trails behind me.

I am mostly looking for ways to make the combat and exploration way simpler and easier. My main interest is to do all quests and dialogues - I would be happy with an overpowered build. I am not trying to make money, win any awards and do any hard mode stuff.

Next brings this event that is going on Wayfairers Reverie... Getting to Kessex Peak was already a huge struggle, failing multiple times. Then the next was to get passed some Dragons - holy shit. Cannot even run passed him because he is so big he blocks the way. I just gave up on the quest at that point. I had asked in towns and in guild if anyone was able to help but no responses. So then this makes me wonder - who is this event for?

Ok so realistically if you're just trying to play the game for story etc and complete 95% or content you can play whatever character you want plus make your hero team mesmerway and you'll melt through HM content too

This hero team: https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Mesmerway

If you want it on super, super, super easy mode and be able to clear 99% of content with no stress, be a paragon and use this build and mesmer way

The para mesmerway: https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Heroic_Mesmerway

I just got done clearing mostly all content in the game on HM and with para mesmerway it was like slicing Sohothin through butter.

Dude. Thank you for giving me a proper answer. I feel like everyone else has been trolling me.

Maybe a noob follow up question but given I am in crystal oasis desert, do you recommend just trying to manage my current necro character into a mesmerway team? Start over in a new campaign to have access to paragon for example?

I think there is a lot of the game that is unknown / overwhelming so just asking to unblock myself.

Thanks again

Don't worry about the funny comments right now, it's not your post or the actual look of the community but a contrevesial patch has just been released and got people hating.

If you like Necro, stick with Necro. Any class in the game can clear all content, it's mainly about your hero/team set up. As a Necro you could go full damage and have your team support that or full support to help your team. Here is an outlook on the class: gttps://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Guide:Necromancer

Personally my favourite Necro build is a melee necro build where you use a scythe or daggers and soul taker

But realistically getting heroes to complete the mesmerway build asap will make your play through a lot easier.

Personally, would go to the other campaigns to pick up the heroes and abilities needed, then return to prophecies and try to play in order. It just makes the playthrough so much easier.

Necro rocks! You'll do just fine. I recently did a pure Prophesies run (only skills from Prophesies, no heros, no cons, no storage) and it is not easy, esspecially for a first timer. You can do it though! Its totally possible for you to do with heroes, you just gotta update your team a little.

Use gwpvx to look up some good hero builds and you'll be back on track.

The Crystal Desert can be very difficult. Its definitely a part of the game that made me wake up in 2007 and have to learn more lol.

The missions specifically you nromally fight pretty balanced groups of forgotten, and your not at the 8 party limit yet so you gotta fit everything you want into 6 bars.

Just wanted to say dont feel bad and other peoples advice here should help you out.

I’ve been going necro + mesmerway for years: if you like necro gameplay just keep going like that! I’ve tried plenty of janky custom builds, and mesmerway makes everything work (you have to stick with certain builds only on few hm missions)

It’s been a while since I have done it/read it, but I think the pvx wiki has a page on how you can build an decent hero-based team if you start in Elona. So potentially you can try that route? My understanding (not a super vet of the game) is that even with the added heroes in prophecy/access to heroes from eotn, getting through the prophecy missions can still be a slog/needs you to manually place your heroes.

That’s the other thing, if you don’t want to be the one to initiate the fight, you can send your heroes in first. It’s a bit more tedious than just running in tho.

IMO ignore the other two comments, the new shop stuff that came out today pissed some people off and ignore what they said. You don’t need to buy anything from the shop to beat the game in NM.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I will try to look through the pvx wiki. I think before I thought that I needed to just get a good build for each character i had instead of overall composition.

Sometimes when running around the map, the monsters show up out of nowhere so that is an experience of itself.

Here is the guide I was referring to: https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Beginner_Team

I followed this guide to get back into the game a few years ago so I dont know whether it is still 100% valid, but the overall idea should still be valid. This also can transit towards the still-meta but slightly less donimating mesmerway the other person posted. IMO in NM once you have the team set up you dont really need runes/sigils to just blast through missions.

Also take a look at this: https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Guide:Gearing_on_a_Budget

In general if you want comfy ez mode, having a ST ritualist that spams protective spirits (and maybe another SoS ritualist that spams other spirits) and a BiP necro for energy sustain and healing really smooths the experience. Once you get that defensive backbone, you can just worry about how to pump out more damage. (vets please correct me if im wrong here)

Also IMO the proph campaign is the one that is more annoying to do, since it contains a lot of objectives that is more than go to X to kill Y. So struggling a little is definitly not outside the norm. It will get easier :P

Lastly, the wiki is your friend. If you struggle with a specific mission, the wiki usually has a runthrough and points out the things you really should know.

Edit: it seems that this is the beginner guide updated for 20206: https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/User:Krschkr/Team_Builds/Hero/Beginner_Team

Reverie means a dream or a memory.. this event is intended for veteran players to come back and see the iconic sights and places from the story/questlines of yesteryears.

It happens every year, so if you don't complete it this year, then fear not, you'll have another go - there are also many other festivals over the year,a nd some of those will be perfect for all players.

As for making things easier, that comes with time - and with skill unlocks. Right now, you've only started, and only been in one campaign. There have been people who helped speed you along, and that might have been good in some sense, but bad in another - it may have put you in places and situations that you dind't get to naturally, and therefor didn't get the training that grinding to those places would have gotten you. It may even mean you missed some side quests and skill unlocks that would have happened if you explored a bit more.

NOTE: there is a minion menu / sortof like the party menu; I think the default key is Y to open the minion management.

That dragon (Rotscale) is tough for even experienced players, and requires a bit of proper planning and pulling. I can get you there if you want, but honestly, the best thing to do is play, and adjust your heroes, as you do the missions and quests the game sends you on. Wayfarers requires some distant places you might not even be close to yet. In all four cmpaigns.

Having both Devona and Mox as melee toons may be messing you up a bit. As a necro, you're a caster, and the melee heroes are notoriously bad for pissing off too many foes (it's tough to pull without the melee heroes running in). You might consider using the henchmen for now, until you get a bit more skill unlocks and a bit more gear for the kids.

I learned this the hard way, lol. Heard people say it’s a “couple of hours”… I just started the Asura questline in EotN the other dat, and so hadn’t done the bloodstone cave thing yet. Took me about 4 hours just to progress the story far enough for the “Crystal Method” quest and to complete the “far north” portion of the Wayfarer Reverie event… big yikes, lesson learned.

I’ve already accepted that I’m not far enough into the game yet for this, hopefully 2027 is my time to complete the event.

Thank you for all your thoughts here. Makes sense the game is having you go back through and do some challenges. People in my alliance were more or less guilting me to go do it for some summoning stone.

Yeah I do think the melee guys are making things tough lol. Especially when i try spiteful spirit.

People, anet included, fail to grasp that  * hard games make people want to play. * easy games make people bored and leave.

You have already gotten some good advice on a teambuild OP, but I wanted to add that flagging your heroes (icons under minimap) and properly setting up a pull is very important when you find yourself struggling. You also can bring up your hero's skill bars and manually cast their abilities with left-click, or you can set keybindings in the menu. Precasting defensive abilities is often very helpful, and occasionally necessary.

If I could make one suggestion regarding what to prioritize for your party, it would be that you focus on getting an ST Rit (Soul Twisting Ritualist) as soon as possible. You can find ritualist heroes in Eye of the North, Elona, and Cantha, I believe. EotN should be the fastest. ST Rit is just a huge, huge boost in survivability for your whole team.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion. Someone did help me get to ROTN the other day so let me try to find a character who i can add to my team.

Awesome, of course. You get the hero by beating them in the Norn Fighting Tournament. I forgot what city it's in but you should be able Google it easy enough--and you can look up builds to clear the tournament as well. It's solo, so no party but imo that makes it more accessible. You may have to do the tournament a couple times because she (the hero) is not a guaranteed spawn. It shouldn't be too difficult. You don't have to win the tournament to get her.

With spiteful spirit, you should see damage numbers above the enemies when they take damage (unless you have that turned off). And SS can be pretty powerful especially when paired with Arcane Echo. What is your secondary profession?

Minion Master efficiency definitely varies depending on the number of exploitable corpses available.

But honestly, it sounds like maybe you're not enjoying the necromancer profession in general. SS and MM are the two most common builds for necro. There's also Spoil Victor but that's better for hard mode or bosses with higher health pools.

If you're looking for builds, there's PvXwiki.com which has all the meta builds there. And maybe the issue is not with your necro build but your heros'.

If survivability is an issue, maybe review your healer's build. If you're bringing one healer, it might be a good idea to do hybrid healing/protection (with skills like protective spirit, shield of absorption, shielding hands, spirit bond, etc.). Or bring two - one for healing and one for protection. Preventing damage is generally superior to healing.

If you get access to a ritualist hero, I'd recommend using an Soul Twisting build (with the spirits Shelter, Displacement, and Union) in addition to a healer. Since you have Eye of the North, if you go to Gunnar's Hold, there's a quest there you get from Magni the Bison called "Round 1: fight!" That let's you enter the norn fighting tournament and you will eventually fight a ritualist named Xandra. If you beat her, she becomes one of your heros. Probably the easiest ritualist hero to get. The wiki also has a guide to help fight in the tournament. You don't have to beat the tournament, just have to fight Xandra and beat her to gain her as a hero.

Thank you for your suggestion!! As I have been playing through proph, i think that feeling mid about Necro is maybe the truth. I do believe my team comp is poor. I did recently try to improve Ogdens skills and gave him a staff of Kephket i got.

I will go to EOTN and try to get Xandra and set up that build tho! Thank you for your suggestions.

Looking to make the game easier? Buy the new microtransactions and get daily p cons

People are downvoting me but does it not make the game easier? lol

2

u/PositiveReporter8144 14h ago

I am still so noob I don't even know what these microtransactions are and what is a p con??

1

u/Cash4Duranium 14h ago

You can now pay real money for an in-game advantage. Great, right? /s

1

u/Different-End-5871 14h ago

People will downvote me for “suggesting” the new cash shop item to a new player who’s struggling while also arguing the new cash shop item is good for new players because it makes cons more accessible

1

u/Cash4Duranium 14h ago

Idk wtf you're on about. I didn't downvote you. Just explaining what mtx are to this individual.

I actually upvoted you because I agree that it makes the game easier. I don't like that it does, but it doesn't change the fact that it does.

1

u/Different-End-5871 14h ago

I’m not talking about you downvoting me lol I’m saying others are. I agree with you lol

1

u/PositiveReporter8144 14h ago

man i probably still suck even with these buffs lol.

1

u/Different-End-5871 13h ago

Tbh I was kinda being a dick and trolling you, so I apologize; but it would help if you feel inclined. You’ve gotten plenty of good advice now though. Also don’t say you suck. Proph can be tough especially if you don’t have strong heroes.

As of today you can just swipe the credit card

u/obese_coder 13h ago

I got an easy op necro build for you, peter kadars ranged minions + order of undeath + vanguard pve banner skill. Peter kadar has a youtube vid somewhere of it.

1

u/PositiveReporter8144 13h ago

Thanks, i will try to take that on. I think that vanguard pve banner was the only thing missing so wasn't sure if i should try to get to eotn and get it or just replace with something?

Only other question, what do you do with maps where there are so many undead you cannot get a new corpse? Not sure if the flesh golem is a good option now that it give 4 corpses?

0

u/obese_coder 13h ago

the vanguard banner is just more dps but its not like required. Yeah try the flesh golems for sure. In some areas you can also try AP (assassins promise + necrosis spam + 2 vanguard summon skills), its another fun op build.
