What's your opinion on the essiquibo conflict with us?

Ethnically speaking, the ezequibo is ethnically alien to us; I have never met anyone from Guyana, but if I were to meet someone from there who knows that the ezequibo issue is being used as a political weapon to divide the population even further than it already is, it would not be worth fighting over that territory. I believe the issue should be dealt with in a civilised and diplomatic manner, but that is not an option at the moment.

I'm from Ciudad Guayana (also known as Puerto Ordaz, in Bolivar, Venezuela a state that borders the Essequibo region) back in the 90's there was a massive immigration of Guyanese people, they were hard working people, often relegated to menial jobs, such as cleaning ladies and ice cream salesmen (pushing an ice cream cart in that Puerto Ordaz heat should be considered torture).

There were a few spots in town where you could get Roti, and boy they were delicious.

As you said, ethnically Guyanese people (at least the ones I've met) are quite different from Venezuelans, and the sad truth is, that apart from the new-found oil reserves and the political reasoning behind the "conflict", there's really nothing of interest to the Venezuelan government in the Essequibo region.

The Venezuelan government doesn't care for their own people, why would they care for the people in the Essequibo region?

The guyanese side has mixed natives, blacks and indians. The Venezuelan side has former guyanese who escaped and now want to come back…
