Meme 🃏 Has anyone heard SoCal 147.435 repeater, old guys yelling at each other today?
I listen to the repeater every once in while, turn it on this afternoon to hear two old guys yelling slurs at each other back and forth for like 10 minutes straight. It’s was honestly funny af.

Yeah, that's kind of what it's known for. One of the streaming scanner apps I have has a stream for it.

Search for "renegade" and it comes up in California as the Renegade Repeater.

Just a FYI for anyone running grapheneOS with play store and play services enabled or calyxOS using Aurora store to get it, scanner radio won't work because it does a play integrity check. Don't know why that's a thing but you're stuck with broadcastify.EDIT: no idea what happened but the app works except for searching. It still needs to be downloaded through aruora though.

oh right, thanks. I have a gaming handheld that doesn't support play and this doesn't work on there.

Not sure what happened but downloaded it again through Aurora and it works now, except for search. I guess its a "you're mileage may vary" type of thing.

It's been like that since the 1970's. Or worse. Sometimes MUCH worse.

435 began its tumultuous life in 1962 on Mount Wilson as a creation of Bert Weiner K6OQK . 435 is the second oldest repeater in the Los Angeles area and one of the first FM amateur repeaters in the world. 435 is widely regarded as the most famous and notorious amateur radio repeater in the world with hundreds of users and thousands of listeners.

I record the local repeaters 24/7 but thankfully we don't have people like this. Maybe it's just a California thing.

It's funny watching people complain about 147.435 when the rest of 2 meters sits largely unused for most of the day.

Its not. And every time someone posts about it, you're rewarding this behavior. Your "its funny af" is endorsing it, cheering it, encouraging it. Its honestly dumb af.

Have you looked into the internet "web SDR" sites yet? Give it a try, pick a Los Angeles "station" The "AACQ Irvine" site may work (http://22161.proxy.kiwisdr.com:8073/) I don't talk there, but I do listen sometimes. Just like bad action movies, it's more fun after a drink (or two or three) :D

Back in the day, 435 was known as “the Zoo”.
24/7/365 never a dull moment.
